About Diane Fournier
My husband and I met in Alaska 30 years ago. He was a teacher and I owned a holistic health center. We stayed there 18 years until the tropics called (and we were able to retire). Our 1st home was in lower Puna at Kehena Beach. We lived there and had vacation rentals there before moving to Hilo 3 years ago. Phil spends a lot of his time volunteering in politics. I spend mine in the garden and gleaning fruit from our trees and making wine among other things. We both paddle in outrigger canoe clubs and enjoy our 2 big lab pups that are growing quickly.
Diane Fournier purchased this House in 2014
Why Diane Fournier chose Hilo
This property was adjoining our house and was the original homestead for both properties but had since divided off. It only made sense to purchase it when it came up for sale to make it one larger enclosed property again. I could not think of a better location
What makes this House unique
These are 2 duplexes which have the old Hawaiian character of single wall redwood and cedar architecture of the sugar cane days. We could see the potential if doing total high end remodels to all of them. The location doesn't get any better. Walk into town across the river in 5 minutes. Who needs a car ? The acreage boasts a variety of fruit trees which guests can pick from when in season. Agricultural fields are on 2 sides of the property and our home on the other. It is a very quiet and serene location. There is a loop driveway in and out of the property with easy open latch gates that we close late at night and open early in morning mainly to keep the occasional feral pig out. They do enjoy the fruit too. When it rains hard you can also hear the nearby Wailuku River roaring.

Great location and comfy house.
We just spent three nights in this duplex. There are two duplexes (two buildings, each a duplex) and we had the one with the best view of the hillside and a small lanai. The recent remodel was well done. Shower is awesome. Remember there is no dishwasher--which we didn't need but info for you in case you plan on cooking a lot. The washer and dryer are located in the other unit of this duplex which was a bit inconvenient. Wifi reception was good but the TV is satellite and it rained quite a bit on our stay so the TV reception was not so good one morning. Very quiet location except for a couple of frogs at night. Nice place, well appointed, great location--walking distance to old town Hilo. I highly recommend Pineapples for dinner. Only recommendation I would make to the owners is to get some decent pillows. Overall, loved our stay.
Im glad you enjoyed your stay..however Im perplexed about needing decent pillows.. I personally don't use a pillow but I have 10 different pillows available in the unit with different firmnesses..just not quite sure what to think of this. diane
Nice clean and updated.
We liked the unit. Quiet except for log trucks which was probably an anomaly.
Very nice home. Very Clean and neat. Great view of the Mountains. Walking distance to Downtown.
The Perfect Hilo Hideaway
My wife and I stayed at Diane's place for 6 nights in January and completely enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect for us - extremely close to town and all it has to offer but still located in a completely quiet setting - we even had a view of the snow capped Mauna Kea one morning (the mountain is often cloud covered) while eating breakfast outside. We were able to explore the areas around Hilo quite easily - we took day trips to Volcano Park, the Puna area as well as up the coast to Waipio. "Paradise Found" was modern, spotless and had everything we needed - a well appointed kitchen, two comfortable bedrooms each having a small private lanai, plenty of closet space, and a super modern bathroom, We especially like the car port that allowed us to get stuff in and out of the car really quickly and easily after a long day out. Diane was wonderful to communicate with and was a wonderful host during our stay. She even invited us into her home (on the property) to watch the Super Bowl with a group of her friends from Hilo! Being from Philadelphia, as you can imagine, we had a really good time. Go Eagles. In short, Paradise Found was a great find for us and would recommend it highly.
Wonderful Stay with everything you need
This condo is such a wonderful place to stay in Hilo. From here u can get easy to the volcanoes or to the National volcano park. Diane is always helping you if u have any questions or if u need something. This place is quiet and we really enjoyed our staying here. Thanks to Diane and to her husband for making our vacation perfect.
Cozy and Comfortable
Four of us (two couples) shared this lovely 2-bedroom home on the edge of Hilo for 4 nights, and it was exactly what we were hoping for. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well-equipped, and the fancy shower was fantastic! There are several grocery stores and good restaurants nearby, and this place was a great home base for exploring the Hilo area and visiting Volcanoes National Park (45 min drive). Thank you Dianne for sharing your lovely place with us!
Tours to Mauna Kea Observatory and live volcano viewing .
