About this property

Waterfront and Waterviews, Lovely Vacation Cottage in Vesuvius

Tantramar is a 3 bedroom waterfront heritage cottage which has been carefully restored back to the original character with a covered front porch, large deck, French Doors from the front bedroom with views to the water and a queen size bed. The second bedroom has twin beds, the third - the original Laundry Room is very cozy with a queen size bed.

Tantramar is a five minute walk to the Vesuvius Bay Store, ferry, Seaside Restaurant, and public boat dock. Amenities include down quilts/pillows, fully equipped kitchen (no microwave), a double sided wood burning fireplace, a charming bathroom with claw-tub and shower, wireless internet, and a small Bose Bluetooth speaker. There is (still) no TV' and our beds are made up 'European' Style, with clean, crisp duvets. There are top sheets in the closet for those who prefer them.

Families and pets (with vacuum-friendly owners) are welcome at Tantramar although due to an enforced bylaw pets are not allowed on the beach from June 15 through September 15. Careful smoking on the porches only.

Lovely getaway
A beautiful, tranquil property near the shore of Salt Spring Island. The cottage was well-equipped and very charming. We saw eagles, ravens, rabbits, and deer daily.

Magical Tantramar
Like stepping back into a simpler time full of character. I immediately felt right at home. Room for my dog to play on the property and at the beach. If I wanted to sit and watch the sunset we could still play ball because I closed the gate to the beach. Friends visited and we sat in every seating arrangement. There are many! Some worked for 1 friend (bistro table) and some worked for 2 friends - propane fire table and comfie chairs. 4 sunsets were spectacular! Thank you for allowing me to share this experience with my dog.

Wonderful spot!
This home was more lovely then described. Beautiful location, comfortable home that had the best stocked kitchen we have ever had at a VRBO. We ate in all our meals including fresh crab (thy were stocked with crab forks and shell crackers. We sat in front of the fireplace and read, walked the beach with our dog and just plain relaxed. Hope to return soon.

We cannot say enough good things about this place. We have stayed for a couple of weeks each year on Salt Spring Island and this is the ‘winner’. It is beyond charming, very clean with luscious flower displays wherever you look. Being separated from the beach by a beautiful hedge offers full privacy. All meals were eaten on the stunning patio and the evening sunsets over the beach were worth more than words can express. The owner was very professional and very accommodating. We will definitely return as soon as cm we can.

Tantramar- pure bliss
We have been vacationing at Tantramar Cottage for many years. It is simply lovely and has all the touches that make it feel like our second home. The beach is at your doorstep. The covered porch is wonderful for reading on a rainy day. Vesuius is a short drive to Ganges and the Vesuvius /Crofton ferry serves to give quick transport to Vancouver Island. You can enjoy a walk along the beach and up the stairs to the nearby Restaurant with outstanding fish and chips. We love Tantramar and look forward to our blissful stays!

Blissful Beachfront Cottage
Beautiful cottage on the beach with great sunset views. Felt as though we were staying in someone's personal home as it was decorated with wonderful touches that added to the homey, comfortable feel. Comfortable beds and fully stocked kitchen were lovely and welcomed touches!

Loved the location of the cottage. Very charming and views spectacular. Best part of home is the wonderful spacious deck. Awesome sunsets! One thing,, having only 1 bathroom was a negative even with just 4 people staying.

Magical location!
What a gem! The views are absolutely incredible. There is a private entrance to the beach, and tons of comfy seating on the deck to enjoy the views whether you are eating a meal, reading a book, or getting some sun. The master bedroom is wonderful, only downside is the other 2 bedrooms are considerably smaller so you have to flip a coin to see who wins the bedroom contest ;) we had a complimentary bottle of champagne to celebrate our birthdays when we arrived which was a lovely touch! The kitchen is totally stocked with spices, and there is a great BBQ on the deck to cook all of the amazing local seafood and produce. We will be back!
