On those cooler nights, bring along a blanket so you can nestle yourself on the sand or take advantage of the dune top deck which offers built in seating, while you watch the dolphins play in water and listen to the waves roll in. This home is pet friendly, so your fur babies can join you on vacation too!

"Gypsea Rose" is a historical, classic, cottage featuring a hot tub and rec room for your enjoyment, as well as a gas grill and outdoor seating for those nights that you want to stay in! Take an early morning jog or leisurely walk along the paved bike paths to explore the nearby towns such as Duck and Southern Shores. If you are looking for a romantic getaway, or small family vacation, you will not regret staying at "Gypsea Rose" and we are certain this will become your home away from home!

Cute place

I love the unique layout of the house, it fit our needs perfectly. Getting to just walk out the door and the beach is right there was a huge plus. We loved sitting on the porch in the evenings having a drink to the sound of the waves rolling in. We did notice the sliding door handle was broken and we couldn’t find a measuring cup. The dryer also had some kind of residue inside and it did get on a piece of clothing but didn’t ruin anything else thankfully. Overall I would definitely stay again in the future.

We 7( 4 children under 11) have enjoyed staying in Gypsea Rose for the past 4 years- this year for 2 weeks. The kitchen is not for a cook- limited space but doable. The owners have been good about updating some things each year. We love how accessible the beach is.

Management had replaced a worn deck/patio door with a new door that worked very well. Very happy with all aspects of the house and management.

Outside deck area oceanfront was phenomenal...that’s where we spent much of our time. Loved the privacy of the hot tub area but were disappointed by the temperature of the water.... needed to be hotter but seemed like an older tub. The house was comfortable and a very unique setup.... could use a bit of updates in the kitchen and bathrooms. With all that said we enjoyed our week there and would go back!!!

Horrible and moldy. Infested with bugs and ants. You will probably wake up with them crawling on you like we did. Rusty outdated appliances, even something as simple as ping pong paddles weren’t replaced. Broken and old. You can’t set down food or a drink without ants getting in it in a second. It’s literally infested with them. I notified them of the issues 30 minutes after getting there and didn’t hear anything back for 3 or 4 days and that’s only because I kept reaching out. Currently waiting from them to view my report and try to get at least partially reimbursed for this nightmare of a vacation home. Nothing good about it other than the location. DO NOT STAY HERE. We will be posting about our experience on every platform we can until we hear something back. Didn’t even feel like vacation coming home to this dump every day. So sad.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved this oceanfront home. So comfortable and beachy. The sunrises are gorgeous, the beds comfortable. Lots of books and comfy seating. The hot tub is amazing. The location felt central. We did trip a fuse but within a half hour of notifying the rental company, someone was there to fix it. The fuse box is hidden behind the flag hanging in the game room, in case you need to know! We also asked for the hot tub to be cleaned, and again, someone was there within the hour and took care of it.

Comfortable Vacation

The only drawback were the decks as small children and dogs would be able to fit through the railings and areas where there were no barriers offering a escape route. This is the only reason we would not rent this home again.We prefer "flat top" homes as we like the simplicity, but they are becoming more difficult to find.

Wonderful Beach House

It was very clean. The beds were very comfy, as was the furniture. If you like to read, bring reading lights with you. The oceanfront location was fabulous. We enjoyed the deck. One downside: We couldn't use the jetted soaker tub in the upstairs bedroom; there wasn't enough hot water to fill the tub & cover the jets. Therefore the jets couldn't be turned on. Overall the house was wonderful. We'd definitely come back. Pro tip: Order from Southern Shores Pizza.

Deep sand going to ocean was hard to manage for us old folks. We used the public access. No staples in kitchen. Other properties have had spices, salt,pepper. No instructions for use of tv. Fans and ac were hard to figure out. No electricity in the sun room. Alarm went off from uk origin.

Could use a little TLC

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The pictures are a little deceiving. The location was PERFECT, the hot tub was clean & maintained. The house and amenities were comfortable enough, but maybe not worth the price tag. We wouldn't rent this place again. The kitchen needs updating - but the bathrooms .... wow, three of the four bathrooms were so dark and dank - all three are in major need of an overhaul. It was like taking a shower in a coffin.. and if you're a lady, trying to shave lady 's downright dangerous. We collectively decided to share the master bathroom between the 7 of us. Otherwise, this place was pretty unremarkable for the price tag. Nothing awful (except the bathrooms), nothing great (except the location).

Wonderful

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful time in this house. The location is great, close to everything and the oceanfront is OCEANFRONT! The beach is right off the porch and the view from the deck and inside the house is fabulous. And it was great we could bring our dogs with us. House has an interesting layout, is well maintained and we had no complaints. There are plenty of books and games to occupy non-beach time.The only issue we had (which was not really an issue for us) was with the WIFI strength. There is a good signal in the living, family room, deck and kitchen, but there was no signal in the master bedroom and the downstairs bedroom so the televisions in those rooms we unable to stream shows. They need to install a router with better range.Other than that, everything was perfect. Thanks for a great, relaxing vacation.

A very sad and neglected beach house

Reviewer Comments: In answering your questions:"Was the property description accurate regarding the location?" = Yes"Was the property clean and well maintained?" = NO"Did the owner or manager provide good service?" = Manager, yes"Would you recommend this property to a friend or relative?" = NO, ABSOLUTELY NOBeach Realty has been a respectable management company for years and years, but they need to release themselves from the VRBO arrangement they have with "Gypsea Rose". This property is damaging the good reputation of Beach Realty. We have been staying in properties at the Outer Banks for over 30 years, and have never seen a property that was so very neglected, in very poor condition, unsafe and unhealthy. There was mold on walls in general living spaces where past flooding had been, jagged rusted baseboards where children or pets could cut their feet in every bathroom, toilets not flushing properly, showerhead not attached and hanging out of the wall, and a deck and steps to the beach that were unsafe and dangerous. The splintering wood and the nails sticking up all over the deck and steps were far too dangerous, so we used the public beach access so we wouldn't have any accidents. Management DID send a very kind gentleman with a hammer to hammer down some of the nails, but it is really up to the owner to maintain the property. We paid a premium price for a substandard property.

The location is perfect- this is our third weekly rental. Off season, we prefer to open the windows: the dining room windows really need replacing, as they are hard to raise and sometimes lower on their own(!). We called about the microwave malfunctioning but this was not addressed. Unsure if we will rent again, there are houses that appear in better condition for the same$.

This house almost ruined our vacation!

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The lovely pictures posted do not reflect the poor condition of this home. Upon arrival, although the house was clean, we immediately noticed that the house smelled of mold and mildew and is not well maintained. The stove/oven quit working the first day. The gas grill was not an option because although it did light, the burners and deflectors were badly mangled and dirty. After a strong rainstorm, water was dripping from the ceiling in at least 4 of the rooms. The realtor salvaged our vacation by moving us to a different rental on the third day because the condition of this house was so bad.

Location location location! But that's it.

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great location on the beach but that's where the glory ends. The house desperately needs to be updated. It's difficult to discern if it was dirty or just dingy. The view is beautiful from the deck and kitchen table. We arrived to a broken ground floor window which felt super unsafe because there was no deadbolted door between that room and the house. There was also a broken glass candle holder and racial slur etched into the wood of the outdoor shower. The air conditioner shut off a few times. There isn't a recycling bin. The outside is in poor condition with overgrown bushes and trash on the property. I addressed the candle, broken window, and air conditioner with the rental company. The rental company didn't address the concerns except to throw out the candle holder so I didn't bother reporting the rest. Oh and it smells like a damp house.

Great house and location

This house is spacious and the best part is that it is only a few steps from the beach. Enjoyed our stay and would recommend this beach home to anyone coming to the Outer Banks.
