About Jenny Garlini
Once the preferred habitat of Blue Grouse, the 45 acres of Blue Grouse Estate are tucked away on a sunny slope of Vancouver Island’s Cowichan Valley, which is believed to take its name from a First Nation's word meaning "the warm land". A fitting name, as the valley enjoys Canada’s warmest mean temperature. The terroir encompasses wind protection by evergreen trees, an all-Southern exposure, a combination of clay and gravelly soil, and the nurturing of pure air and spring water. Thanks to this exceptional site, the vines require little fertilization and irrigation, just a drop of passion, a splash of dedication and hard work, and a pinch of obsession make the difference!

A lovely property, in a lovely location!
Above and beyond
We rented the Grouse House for a weekend stay while we attended some foraging/cooking classes at Deerholme Farms (which I would highly recommend doing).
The cottage is freestanding and private, and overlooks vineyards with a mountain backdrop. Gorgeous view!!! The house itself is homey and yet contemporary, very well appointed and efficient. A big step above the usual VRBO/HomeAway rental. It is new so that of course is a big plus.
Plenty of room for 3 of us - would be spacious enough for 4 people.
Unseasonal snow fell as we arrived - but that did not create any problems. I know this is asking for a very big plus - but a hot tub would make this place perfect. I will be back!!!
This is the best rental apartment that we have ever stayed in anywhere in the world. Yes, it is total new, so everything is still in great shape. This is not what makes it so special, however. It is a place with real style where someone has put in an effort to make all the details fit. Too bad that we don't live on the island and thus cannot enjoy this place more often!
Grouse House is perfect...
We stayed at Grouse House for the weekend while my father played in a local lawn tennis tournament. Everything about this place is to the highest quality that is almost magical. Jenny, the person who checked us in was fantastic and very attentive. The views are beyond belief and the wine is delicious. A spectacular house all round!!!
Relax and enjoy the surrounding vineyard while absorbing the natural serenity. Visit the Blue Grouse Tasting room for a wine tasting, picnic lunch or to enjoy a glass of wine.
