"It's more difficult to find a really nice place to stay 3 nights in Russian River than I'd have thought, but we hit the jackpot when we found and booked Vista Serena for a recent family mini-reunion. With 3 grown kids/spouses and a 3yr old grand-daughter, our party of 6-1/2 had plenty of space and comfortable convenience to last the weekend, and all would've loved to stay longer! With 3+ bedrooms and 2 full baths, everyone had privacy and comfort to spare. Clare has equipped her home better than expected, thinking of almost everything one would need to cook and stay entertained, and has maintained it all in perfect order. We didn't turn on any of the tv's except for one late-night movie, but definitely enjoyed the lovely spa and thoughtfully shaded deck - and the dog and 3yr old loved the fenced yard! We know the area very well so felt the location would suit our needs perfectly - but if you're new to Russian River, this would be the perfect home base from which to explore Guerneville itself (MUST go to Johnson's Beach), and everything from Forestville to Healdsburg, or Armstrong Woods out to Bodega Bay and Jenner - taking the time to stop at every little winery or perfect beach spot in between! Despite its proximity to town (and the lovely historic PeeWee Golf), it was extremely quiet and peaceful. Clare (who is especially easy and pleasant to communicate with) and Elizabeth, her local caretaker, provided not only great instructions for the house, but lots of tips and recommendations for visitors. We're already beginning to think about a bit longer stay next year!
I should add that Guerneville has become quite the location for great food - highly recommend Boon Eat & Drink on Main, the restaurant at Russian River Vineyards in Forestville (fka Corks), and Nimble & Finn's, the fabulous little ice cream place in the old Guerneville Bank! We found everyone at these spots incredibly pleasant, especially accommodating to small children, and serving exceptionally delicious food! And with one of our favorite wineries, Rochioli, only a short, scenic drive away, we could not have asked for anything more!
*One very minor note about the infrared bbq on the deck….if you’ve never used one before (like us), you may find it a bit of a challenge to get something like a pricey beef tenderloin done the way you want. We persevered and it was fine – just meant dinner was a lot later than planned!"
