  • Unique, amply spaced lakefront family spot!

"This 5 bedroom (plus 2 double futons) house was super fun. Porches toward Bald Mountain Lake on two floors. Fireplaces on each floor. Big kitchen, dining area, living room and lots of light made this a perfect Christmas gathering place for 10 family members. Pool table/room and 2 TVs on lower floor offered variety of activity. Loved the big grassy access to lake; most around Lake Lure do not have this; only hundreds of steps down! So, easy access to dock, paddleboat, canoe: FUN. Creek next to house and larger Buffalo Shoals Creek on the other made it a natural wonder. Buffalo Creek Trail nearby. Views of Young's Mountain/Ken's Rock are nice. We cooked huge Christmas dinners for two families- all worked well here. Some small issues that owner said she'd quickly fix. But mostly a unique (octagonal house), nature surrounded, comfortable joy of a vacation place. We want to come back in Summer!"

  • Had a great time in Lake Lure & Asheville

"First of all, working with VRBO/Emily was super easy--she was very responsive to queries, and her information about arrival was helpful and accurate. For the most part, the cabin was as expected. It looked just like the pictures, and was very clean; however, the deck needs a little attention, and the kitchen cupboards are getting a little shabby. As others mentioned, it was well-stocked, with games, movies, kitchen utensils, towels, bedding; in fact, it was so well-stocked, that there was very little room in the cabinets, drawers or closets for personal items. (For example, out of 5 drawers in the Master BR dresser, 2 had blankets in them, which left 3 for my husband and me to share.) We often moved/consolidated things so that we could have some space for our groceries and personal effects. We were hoping for a cabin with a fire pit, but instead brought a portable one along with a few lawn chairs, which did the trick. We were there 6 days/5 nights--very nice that we didn't have to rent for a whole week--and ended up in Asheville 3 times, which is well-worth the drive. Overall, its quiet setting is great, as well as its location, close to fun activities (boat rentals, beach, zip lining, hiking), a grocery store and Larkins, a great little restaurant on the lake; and it's very comfortable, offering great space for relaxing and unwinding--beds were very comfortable, too! Would definitely recommend, and return."

  • Great spot!

"You get a very home like feel when you stay here. The rooms were all very comfortable, the view at night was full of stars and so peaceful. Great street to take a stroll on. Wayne was so very responsive and helpful. The home was immaculate. Will definitely stay here again. You are close to everything you need. You will enjoy your stay!"

  • Christmas at Lake Lure

"We rented the home to have a Christmas with our grown children who now live in GA and SC. We loved the outdoor fireplace at night and the shuffle board table downstairs created excellent evening fun. The Home is beautiful, the pictures are exactly as you will find the home. The kitchen and living area was great for family meals and we built Gingerbread houses at the large dining room table. We drove into Chimney rock and enjoyed the town as well as the curvy drive into Asheville one day. A very spacious home and great quality. I would give it a "five star" but the week we were there the lake had been lowered 10 ft. for Dam repairs so we (as well as the rest of the lake properties) had virtually no lake access... I was hoping to Kayak and fish. But that was the only drawback and there is no way the owners can control that."
