Windmill Retreat is a fine example of authentic adobe architecture situated on a hill in Marfa's northeast section with lovely views of the Fort Davis mountains and a short walk from Marfa town center.
This charming 100 year old adobe has been recently renovated, integrating modern conveniences while maintaining the integrity of the original architecture, including an old wooden windmill structure on the property. Minimally yet comfortably furnished, the one bedroom, one bath home features a queen-sized bed, a full sleep sofa, and a large gourmet kitchen with new modern appliances and accessories, ideal for cooking and entertaining. Hanging on the walls is contemporary art by established local artists from galleries in Marfa.
The east porch is bathed in beautiful morning light, and features a table that comfortably seats eight. The enclosed west garden affords privacy off the Master bedroom, comfortable Adirondack chairs, and small copper fire pit/grill, as well as indigenous blooming flowers and aromatic plants.
Windmill Retreat offers privacy with mature Pinon trees, and a peaceful surround...perfect for writers, artists, designers and creative people.

Diane, Wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed the place in Marfa. We arrived Friday night at 9, just in time to pick up a pizza, and found the house lights on, everything was immaculate. Really amazing! You even had an the Giant DVD for us to watch! Really amazing, have never had a better vacation accomodation experience. This house compliments Marfa's culture, peace and attitude perfectly - the whole place is one big art installation. I've been to Marfa a dozen times, and now I would not consider returning without staying in your house. Thanks again! -JSSDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We enjoyed an amazing stay at the Windmill Retreat. From the moment we drove onto the gravel driveway and marveled at the concrete work, the galvanized metal gutters, wonderful aluminum table and chairs, things just kept getting better. We loved the enclosed courtyard and saw a number of sphinx moths and a hummingbird enjoying the red honeysuckle. A pair of white wing doves claimed the windmill and kept a watch on us as we enjoyed afternoons on the eastern facing porch. I prepared nearly all our meals in the well planned and supplied kitchen. The weather was cool in the evenings and mornings and pleasant during the day. The quietness and peacefulness in the house gave us time and inspiration for writing and reading. We loved the artwork in the house and attention to detail that made us feel at ease and at home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

We loved staying at the Windmill Retreat in Marfa. The house had absolutely everything we needed and was a great combination of efficient, comfortable and hip! The two patios just off of the kitchen and bedroom provided great extra living space for us. We'll stay again, every time if we can! A nice retreat to experience all the delights Marfa has to offer--wonderful art, food & people. The private garden off master is a great spot for enjoying your morning coffee or tea. Jon and Diane have done an excellent job in creating a comfortable and pleasing clean-lined space. In all, its a perfect place to enjoy the ‘magic of Marfa’! We had a great time!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
