Unique Odor

If you have any sensitivities to strong odors do not rent this unit, especially if you suffer from allergies, asthma or odor induced migraines. This unit has a very strong odor, it smells like a mixture of mold and a stong cleaner. We were unable to stay in this unit, we unfortunately had to vacate the same day we arrived and forfeited our rental fee for the entire week. We contacted the property manager 2 hrs after we arrived to see if he had another unit available, he was absolutely unwilling to work with us. We luckily were able to found a place on Isle of Palms which was lovely. This was a very expensive mistake!
Owner response: The odor the tenant complained about was from "Pinesol cleaner/disinfectant which is used in the bathrooms. We use that product in all of our units and have never had a complaint concerning the smell. This unit has had 40 periods rented this year alone with an estimated 320 guest staying. Because we have never had this complaint, and the fact that we didn’t have another unit available, I asked the tenant to open the windows and doors to air out the unit. Obviously, she didn’t think that was a solution. I was unaware that the tenant chose to vacant the unit however, other than the solution I offered; I don’t feel responsible for the tenant’s unique sensitivity. There is no smell or signs of mold in this unit. I think it would be very difficult to ask each prospective tenant if they have any “unique” sensitivities to cleaning products, soaps, laundry detergents etc.

This is a wonderful condo! The view is amazing and the beach access couldn't be better. All of the furnishings were nice and comfortable and our whole group agreed we could live there year-round. Plenty of parking and literally a hop, skip, and a jump to downtown Folly.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, age 55+.

Our family of 7 just returned from a weeks' stay. It was terrific. The townhouse was clean and attractively decorated. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom worked out wonderfully for the "older" vacationers. The beach view was magnificent and we enjoyed our time spent on Folly Beach. The townhouse is close enough to the restaurants and shops that you could walk and avoid parking. Charleston is a short drive away for a day trip. The covered parking of the townhouse could have easily housed 3 vehicles. Thank you for sharing your ocean gem with us. *We had a problem with the air conditioning one day and the caretaker was there within the hour to address the situation.
