Step back in time and soak up a peaceful, private, quintessential Hawaiian vacation experience.

The Hula Breeze is a legal and licensed B&B located on a secluded road, only a few short blocks from Kailua beach and minutes from Lanikai Beach. Nestled among tropical gardens, we have taken care to create a refuge of comfort that is designed to meet all your needs.

The Pineapple Suite is spacious and clean. It has a kitchenette with a full size refrigerator, sink, microwave, hot-plate dishes and cutlery. We also offer a BBQ.

We provide you with fresh local fruit and coffee for your first morning, but you may want to stock up on fresh produce at the local farmers market (Thursday mornings from 9 am -10 am) just a 5 minute walk from us.

You will be lulled to sleep by the gentle tropical breeze. You will awaken refreshed after sleeping between luxurious sheets of 400 thread count. After savoring a breakfast of local fruit and Kona coffee, enjoy sitting by the sparkling pool on the lanai while listening to exotic bird songs.

Help yourself to a boogie board, beach chair and towel and take a seven minute stroll through a residential neighborhood, protected from traffic and crowds, as you make your way to Kailua Beach.

Rated among one of the best beaches in the US, here you will be welcomed by warm ocean breezes, turquoise blue waters and white sand that is soft and warm. Remember how it felt to be a carefree kid on summer break? Here you can relive those memories.

Go ahead and rent a kayak, surf board, paddle board, bike, kite board or windsurfing gear…all just 10 minutes from your guest suite. The ocean is your playground. Shopping, tennis and golf are also nearby!

Stop off at the famous Kalapawai Market where they can make you a delicious deli sandwich for a picnic lunch or serve up a latte just the way you like it.

Once you return to your home away from home at the Hula Breeze, rinse off in the outdoor shower, hang your wet things out to dry and perhaps take a nice nap before heading out to the charming town of Kailua. You’ll be surprised to find many restaurants to choose from in all price ranges.

You will be eager to return to your spacious suite where you may lounge on your comfy bed and perhaps enjoy some pineapple/coconut ice cream….sure to give you the sweetest of dreams.

If you choose to venture out to explore, Kailua is the perfect get-anywhere location. The island of Oahu is only 40 miles tip-to-tip, so you can explore it all quite easily. Honolulu and Waikiki are just a half-hour away. As your on-site hosts, we will help you discover and enjoy our beautiful island.

Sven and Allison live on site and we are happy to help you with any questions and to provide you with our local knowledge. We have a dog on-site...Ellie. She is a very friendly Bernese Mt. dog who is wondering how she ended up in Hawaii.

We welcome you to come stay at the Hula Breeze and enjoy all the wonderful delights that Hawaii and Kailua have to offer!

Why the Owner Chose Kailua

We have lived in many spectacular places, but Kailua offers us the ideal location to pursue all our passions. One of the most beautiful beaches in the world is just a few blocks away. Hiking, biking, golfing, kayaking, windsurfing, kite-boarding and more are available just a few minutes from our home. We can walk to the quaint town of Kailua or take a 30 minute drive to Honolulu for world class cuisine. The tropical weather allows us to enjoy water sports all year long! Not to mention the warmth and kindness of our Hawaiian neighbors. We have found one of the greatest places on earth!

Owner's Map of Kailua

We love to travel and we love our Hawaiian home. In 1998 we took a year off to visit 17 different countries. Our travel experience gives us first-hand knowledge of what makes a simple room a “second home." Sven speaks fluent German. Allison is a counselor who listens well in any language. Ellie is our friendly Bernese Mt. Dog who wonders how she ended up in Hawaii. We are happy to share our “local” perspective on activities, sites to visit and restaurants.

    • Wonder if you should stay at the Pineapple Suite in Kailua? Here is what to consider (from my point of view after 7 days) Do you want to be in a large, clean studio with kingsize bed, WIFI, kitchen stuff, private bath, TV? Do you want a pool on site? You okay without screaming kids (or the kind that don't scream for that matter) at the pool? Want to use someone's beach suppplies like boogie board, those mat things, snorkle equipment, towels, and cooler rather than pack or rent all that stuff? Want to meet two friendly, informed, practical, helpful hosts? (They won't make your beds, but other than that they are swell!) Would you enjoy a walk to the beach thru a lovely neighborhood? Do you know how to rent a car, read a map and find island attractions without a hotel provided van? You ok with not smoking? If you have answered "No" to these questions, then call the Hilton, otherwise - pick this one! We were happy here. Infact, while I am at it, Mahalo Allison and Sven -

    • We had a wonderful opportunity to stay in the Pineapple Suite for a full week. The location is superb - so quiet at night as part of a cul de sac. Yet convenient....a very short & comfortable walk to a private beach entrance, exquisite sand & sweet blue water plus plenty of activity for people watching. Not looking forward to people, you can have a relaxing time in your suite backyard with pool & private baby joe BBQ. Kailua is also very convenient to any activity you want to take in on the island. We spent a full day at Pearl Harbor, a partial day at both the Dole plantation & the Polynesian Cultural Center (plan a full day for the PCC) and had plenty of photo opportunities up and down the coast. So much more to do! Honolulu is only a quick 30 min drive even during the week on the scenic Pali Hwy.....the first time a commute was actually enjoyable. Allison and her husband are great hosts....there when you have questions but in total respect of their guests privacy. A great value and the basis for a great vacation! Mahalo!

    • Comment Text: We stayed in the Pineapple Suite at Hula Breeze the second week of August, 2009. Hula Breeze is as advertised, tucked away on a quiet side street, minutes away from the beach and a very short car ride to the city center. In short, it's an outstanding location. The suite’s private entrance was much appreciated as was the suite’s size, appointments and cleanliness. Closet and drawer space was more than ample. The bed is very comfortable, making it easy to just lie in bed and listen to the birds deliver their morning songs. Allison is a great host and we hope we get a chance to return sooner than later!

    • I recently stayed in the Pineapple Suite at the Hula Breeze and it was absolutely lovely. The host Allison made me feel so comfortable and didn't hesitate to make recommendations that I truly appreciated! The room is spacious, clean and as the property states...easy breezy. The location is private, yet you have access to everything you need via a pleasant stroll. I hope to return to Kailua soon. Much mahalo.
