Large, rustic, & luxurious are words seldom used together, but that's Spirit Dancer Lodge, a luxurious, energizing, rejuvenating, and ROMANTIC get-away far removed from the stresses of city life. We're on 60 private acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Shenandoah Valley, just minutes from Skyline Drive. We offer 4000 square feet of living space with queen beds in three, spacious bedrooms with a soaking tub and shower in the master bedroom. A large, closed-in loft area has a king bed plus two twins. All rooms have large windows to let the outside in.

The great room has a huge stone fireplace, dining room and kitchen, all open together and has floor to ceiling windows with prowl front and Brazilian cherry hardwood floors. There's carpet in the other rooms. Our hot tub, at the end of our extensive deck, is perfect for star gazing or wildlife watching. Downstairs, you'll find our sauna room (5 person) with queen-size futon, 18 foot stone bar, game room, exercise room and 62 inch dish satellite TV. The sofa here has pull-out queen-size bed. The interior house is specially designed in southwest decor (Home Beautiful).

We're located just off Virginia's Route 231, one of America's ten most outstanding scenic byways (Great for biking!). We back up to Shenandoah National Park & Old Rag Mountain, which offer numerous scenic hiking trials, & we have our own private hiking trail. We have a stocked pond for "catch & release" only, however, there's recreational trout fishing nearby. Visit many, outstanding wineries, cheese factories, historic sites, civil war battlefields, Luray caverns, historic Monticello and the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Enjoy an outside fire in our newly built stone patio with fireplace, Antique shop, bike, hike or just sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery and numerous wildlife.

We also have a smokehouse which is great for all kinds of food. Our dining room table seats 16 comfortably and makes for memorable, candlelight celebrations. Specially designed lighting throughout the house makes it very romantic. A massage therapy center will come to the lodge for your spa massage. We also have a picnic table atop cocktail hill where you can sip your favorite beverage while viewing the breathtaking, panoramic view of the valley below. It's Wonderful!!

The Lodge is ideal for family gatherings, corporate retreats, reunions, birthdays, girls weekends & theme weekends: i.e. cooking, yoga, painting, photography, nature, birding, & much more. Planning coordinator is available upon request.

There are many scheduled events, festivals, and activities throughout the year. There are world class to down-home restaurants within 10-30 miles (Most notable, Inn of Little Washington). So come and relax. You won't want to leave. Memories are made here!

    • If I built my dream house it would look just like the Spirit Dancer Lodge! Our group of friends left the city for a relaxing weekend in this spacious, beautiful, cozy lodge. Spirit Dancer has something for everyone: it's perfect both for outdoorsy-people as well as those who like to be pampered when they're on vacation. We absolutely recommend it! And we're already planning our next trip back.

    • We want to thank you for a wonderful place to call home for our Couple's Weekend. The views are outstanding and the Spirit Dancer Lodge was a perfect place to unwind after hitting some of the Wineries in the area. The only thing we would change is Cocktail Hill. Could you think about re-naming it? The view was just prefect and our friends got engaged our first night at the lodge. John and Kristie will always call Cocktail Hill-- "Proposal Hill". It really got the weekend off to a great start. They wanted their frineds to be there to witness the proposal and we caught the whole thing on video. FYI-- DO NOT GO TO GRIFFIN TAVERN!!! Our group decided to stop there for lunch. We were told (in a very rude way)-- there's no way we can serve you. I know we all used deordorant, so not sure why we were treated like that. It all worked out. Saturday night we did go to Thorton River Grille. Outstanding food and great people. A must stop while in Sperryville. Sunday our kids joined us for a hike along the White Creek Canyon Trail. Great water falls and an easy hike. Highly recommend it. We hope to come back soon.

    • We spent Memorial Weekend at this wonderful house. The house was amazing and I must say that the pictures on the website does not do it justice. Everything in the house was very well kept. We loved the sauna, hot tub and ping pong table. I highly recommend this to anyone who's thinking about it. You won't be disappointed. Thank you so much for letting us rent your house.

What a wonderful vacation house! Went to Whitehall wineries for some wine tasting. On the way home, we drove by a scenic route through Shenandoah Park along Skyline Drive. BBQ dinner on the beautiful grill, hamburger, hotdogs, ribs, sausage, & cucumber salad.

We had a marvelous time at the Lodge. We hate to leave so soon! Enjoyed the hot tub & sauna, took a great hilke on the property, & just generally relaxed. The weather was surprisingly warm & sunny, despite predictions of snow & sleet. We're glad the weather forecasters were wrong! While on a hike on the property, we found the settlement. Dave thinks it might actually be a civil war camp--the rock piles look a lot like battlements & look out points very well hidden from the valley & stream bed below. Thanks for allowing us to experience the peace & luxury at the Lodge. We'd love to return someday.

    • We stayed at Spirit Dancer in February 2004. Our group of women enjoyed the retreat so much, we plan to go back this year. The views, home, hot tub, nearby hiking were all extraordinary. Thank you so much for providing a wonderful home for others to enjoy.

    • Guests at lodge 11/1-11/4/04. I cannot convey how blessed we feel to have experienced such an amazing home and vacation. So many things to do, such little time! The views from Skyline Drive - incredible. The peace and beauty all around Spirit Dancer Lodge - amazing! This home is like staying at a 5-Star resort. Pristinely clean, beautiful native American decor, tons of games, amazing sound system/entertainment center that can be enjoyed from almost every room, amazing outdoor hot tub, sauna room, exercise room, trails and fishing pond and on and on and on! We felt so at home yet pampered beyond belief. There are so many sights to see in the area and especially all the trails in Shenandoah National Park that feature panoramic views and many waterfalls. We even saw a very large bear and her two cubs while driving along Skyline Drive!! We are thankful for the warm hospitality we received and the special memories that were made during our anniversary vacation at Spirit Dancer Lodge - memories that will last a lifetime. We will definitely be back!

    • We stayed in Spirit Dancer Lodge over New Years 2004. We came with our closest friends, and we had a spectacular time. We hiked, and explored the old ruins, and the old dirt road, had picnics on the hill-top (it was very mild weather), and really enjoyed the spectacular lodge. Thank you very much for providing us the opportunity to share your lodge. Sorry it took me so long to post this message. I thought I had done so before, but as I looked this time, I didn't see it.

    • We - our 14-member extended family of four siblings, our families, and our parents - spent an absolutely wonderful week at SDL June 20-26, 2004. The Lodge is most conducive to a wide variety of activities - puzzle working 'til midnight, kids playing hide-and-go-seek, screening epics such as the Lord of the Rings, huge dinners scrumptuously prepared with a plethora of kitchen utensils, gazing up at a zillion stars and satellite spotting, sitting up until 2 a.m. recounting past joys and foibles. Plus, the Lodge itself is a ceaseless wonder - so many treasures and items to examine, all very tastefully displayed. And, of course the area offers a wide variety of activities - hiking, tubing, shopping, dreaming. All in all, it was one of the best weeks our extended family ever had! Thanks, Geri!
