Wonderful Flat for S.F. visit

We just returned from a superb four day visit to San Francisco and a three night stay in the flat on Fillmore. We found the reviews left here on VRBO as very accurate and full of lots of good information. The flat is exactly as described and comes very complete with all your needs for a very comfortable stay. We were met by David and he allowed us to put our luggage away early and we then returned later when he had completed the cleaning. David was very kind and helpful in many ways during our stay. Vallie states in the listing that she helps out in the neighborhood cleaning up and contributing to the upkeep of her area. I saw her walking around twice cleaning up trash. Speaking of the neighborhood, it is excellent. You will find numerous restaurants and shops close by that are some of the best in the city. - Kate's Kitchen - Wonderful lunch and breakfast place just one block away on Haight St.(found in many travel books as one of the best breakfasts in the city) - Squat & Gobble - Excellent breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Order at the counter and sit inside or out. We had draft beers for $2.75. - Safeway - Large supermarket about two blocks away, this can be great for anything you need - Cafe Soleil - Fantastic french cafe right across the street. Went here for pastries and coffee as well as cold beer and sandwiches. Super friendly staff and owner. We spent a lot of time as many others have mentioned sitting in the bay window watching life at the corner of Waller and Fillmore. On our last night in the flat they were filming a pilot for HBO right on the corner. We watched as they prepared and shot a bus scene right in front of our noses. The neighborhood is super safe and very clean. Many professionals, families, and curious characters all live nearby. Another aspect that we really enjoyed was the location. It is super easy to get to on the "Muni" train which also connected to all other municipal transportation: BART, streetcars, buses, and trolley cars. We bought a City Pass that gave us unlimited use of city transit and admission to a bunch of attractions. If you are looking for an experience that allows you to live a bit like a local, this is it. I would highly recommend staying at this great flat rather than a generic downtown hotel.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My family of four stayed one beautiful week here and would love to again. The neighborhood is über pleasant, with a French cafe across the street (Cafe du Soleil, no less!). We found our way around walking and via public transit easily, and the owner and other people in the building were kind and helpful. Everything about the apartment was very clear and easy, too. The flat is bright with artwork and Victorian-style touches and the kitchen etc. was just lovely. This is a very comfortable, happy rental. Totally right for a week on the city.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This flat was amazing...perfect in every way! It was clean, cozy, and incredibly charming. We had such a fabulous time while there for the weekend. Our experience in this flat was something we could not have gotten if we had stayed in a hotel. It allowed us to see the city from a completely different perspective, which was truly awesome. The hosts were very welcoming and attentive to all our needs. They truly helped make this experience one that won't be forgotten. Thank you so much! We will definitely consider staying here again in the future!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Our family of four (parental units and two teenagers) had a wonderful visit to SF staying in this flat for three nights. Vallie (Owner) and David (Manager) couldn't have been more helpful, communicative and accommodating -- David even made sure we scored a parking place upon our arrival! The flat is clean, comfortable and centrally-located -- we walked everywhere. The bakery across the street is highly recommended for both baked goods and coffee. Enjoy your visit!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We had a great experience renting this flat and highly recommend it. The owner did an excellent job answering our pre-rental questions. She was quick to get back to us and went far above the call of duty in meeting us personally for a late check-in and allowing us to ship some Amazon packages here before our arrival. The flat itself is both accurately and fully represented in the photos. It is a quaint SF 1BR Victorian. What you can't see from the photos is that it is actually *warm* inside because there are two good heaters (one in the front, and one in the back of the flat). Although the flat has a charming old-world feel, all of the plumbing fixtures appeared to be new and everything works perfectly. The flat was also sparkling clean when we arrived. Also, it seems like everything has been well thought out. There is a second convertible bed in the living room that rotates out of the way. There is extra bedding. There is extra shampoo and new soap. There is a stack of toilet paper, a fresh roll of paper towels, fast Internet, a wine opener and glasses, plenty of clothes hangers, multiple coffee-making devices. We didn't run into any frustrations in getting our business done. The flat is across the street from Cafe du Soleil, which opens at 7 or 8am and has great coffee, pastries, quiche, and sandwiches. There is a corner store with a good selection of natural and gourmet goodies. You are also walking distance from some great SF restaurants like Nopa and Zuni, as well as more casual places like Club Waziema ;-) From start to finish, it was a great experience staying here. Exactly what we needed. It's hard to imagine you could find anything remotely this good in the price range. We highly recommend.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful stay. The apartment has everything you could want/need during your vacation and it is very clean. The pictures are true to the apt. The location couldn't have been any better. There is a lot to walk to in the neighborhood. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others. David and Vallie were both great to work with. The only small challenge is that these older houses transfer sound easily, but that is true with every SF house.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

Because when we shop vacation rentals we are at the mercy of the owners we give huge "points" for accuracy of description. This Dubose Triangle Flat was just as described and thus "big points" for accuracy. We wanted an apartment that would be clean, quiet, spacious, bright, comfortable, and conveniently located. This unit was all of the above. When we had a quick question about the video system it was answered quickly and accurately. For a real San Francisco neighborhood experience this seems a true "value". There are more "upscale" areas but you will pay dearly for little added value or comfort and probably less convenient access to public transportation, groceries, and parks. (Safeway for groceries, Cafe Soleil for bread, coffee, pastries, etc.) The apartment and location was pre-approved as a safe neighborhood by our son and my brother--both diehard San Franciscans. If you want to combine a reasonably priced down to earth SF living experience with access to the entire city this is pretty hard to beat. One caveat--to get full benefit of this area it helps to like to walk and enjoy public transportation. (We happen to enjoy both.) Suggest you not bring a car and forget about flagging a cab on the street. (Just call, and they will get there.)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

Buena Vista Park View on map
One of the best kept secrets of SF parks. Beautiful views of the Bay, Ocean, Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge and Oakland; all at the top of this park. Also the gutters in this park are from the old tombstones of SF from the Gold Rush days. After the SF 1906 earthquake, SF moved the graves outside SF and used the granite tombstones to line the gutters in this park. If you look closely at the gutters, you'll see engraved letters, "My Beloved"

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: I've lived in many neighborhoods in San Francisco but this is my favorite! It really is in the heart of San Francisco. Because I love this neighborhood, I volunteer for weekly clean and green projects, plan community events and encourage neighborhood engagement. When I decided to renovate one of the flats to a short term rental, I was excited that others besides my friends and family would experience a friendly, cultural SF while visiting famous tourist attractions with the ease of walking or catching a bus one block away. The flat has local artists showing their art work in a home environment; all the art work is for sale. I live in the building and care about the property and comfort of each guest. I also have a wonderful and attentive Manager; by the name of David who lives in the building too. Both he and I look forward to your memorable stay.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Decorated with art from SF/Bay Area artists.
