During my initial search for a condo in this area, my final decision was made by the previous excellent reviews posted on this listing. I was not disappointed. The condo is exactly as shown and described in the listing. The owner, Sonia, is incredibly helpful, gets back to you very quickly and is very honest. The number one selling feature of this condo, in my opinion, is the fantastic large balcony overlooking the ocean. It is very peaceful to sit out there. It is in full sun only very early in the morning so it can be enjoyed with shade in the heat of the day and it was very, very hot the entire time we were there. Everything in the condo worked great including, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, hot water etc. We did not experience any major problems, and if you do the property manager is only a phone call and 5 min drive away. I liked that this condo was within a resort complex, so we had access to 3 swimming pools, tennis courts, beach, restaurant and bar. Even while staying in this private condo you can open an account at the front desk to charge drinks and food to your room from the Monkey Bar or Restaurant. This resort is on a hill so there are lots of stairs, would be difficult for those with mobility issues. My biggest concern prior to my trip was about renting a car or not. I chose not to and this worked out just fine. Yes, it would have been convenient, but it is not at all necessary. The main Flamingo Beach, many restaurants, a small convenience store & tour operators are all within very easy walking distance. The property manager helped arrange a pick up from the airport that included a stop at a large grocery store, worth the extra cost, we really stocked up for the week. We used taxis to explore nearby; Playa Conchal, take a taxi to Brasilito $5 each way & then walk 10 min along the beach to get to Conchal's white sand beach. To Tamarindo was $25 each way. Taxis were always available at the bottom of the hill whenever we needed, or you can go to Eco Trans just down the street & they offer tours & same price as a taxi to Tamarindo. Both Grayline & Interbus pick up right at the hotel for trips to the Arenal Area (& many other places) & prices are very reasonable. So for 2 people I really did not spend any extra over what a car rental would have cost, for more than 2 people a rental would save money. Would not hesitate to stay in this condo again in the future. Thanks Sonia for sharing your slice of paradise!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This condo was the PERFECT place for our Costa Rica vacation. It was clean, spacious, had 6 very comfortable beds, and a view that was just heavenly. Being able to sit on the deck and look out at the beach and the bay was so relaxing and peaceful. The kitchen was well equipped; we made many of our meals there. The Monkey Bar and pool are perfect; we enjoyed happy hour at the Monkey Bar most evenings and swam in the pools each day. The temperature of the pools was perfect, warm but refreshing. The area is just perfect: if you can tear yourself away from the deck and the private beach, you can walk down to Flamingo Beach and swim the day away. The water in the ocean is so warm. I normally never swim with my kids because I get cold so quickly, but here we swam for hours. We would dive down and look on the bottom for shells (you have to work for it but they are there!), ride the waves, then swim some more. We did not do any paid tours/excursions, but really had no trouble keeping busy. One day we drove to Tamarindo (quite the hippy town – I wouldn’t want to stay there but it was definitely a sight to see!), and on another we drove to Playa Negra. That was one of my favorite trips, there was a soccer game going on at the field in town that we stopped and watched, then we went to the beach. The beach was covered with shells (and it was low tide) so we had great fun shelling and found some beautiful ones to take home. Side note: if you put your shells in your carry-on luggage security will see them in the xray machine and confiscate them. ? We found this out the hard way. Fellow travelers told us we need to put them in the checked luggage and split them up in many places. At any rate, the beach there was beautiful! We also enjoyed going to Brasilito, a small town not far from the condo that had a great seafood restaurant plus a fun coffee shop that we had seen online. Sonia and Renee (the property manager) were both so kind and helpful! Sonia answered all of our questions and gave us great advice while we were still planning our trip. Renee was always available for phone calls while we were there and gave us many tips of places to visit. We would definitely come back to this condo if we return to Costa Rica – it was our little slice of heaven.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had to take a minute to write this review.... When we saw the pictures of this condo online, we loved it, but when we arrived, we could not believe how much nicer it was LIVE. We could not get enough of the view we had from our balcony. We spent every minute of the day (when we were in the condo) looking out onto our private beach. Not only was the view amazing, but also the Costa Rican patio furniture was beautiful and SO COMFORTABLE. Nothing like having your morning coffee looking at palm trees and beautiful ocean. We went to Costa Rica with our two kids (ages 17 and 13), and all of us had plenty of personal space within the condo. All the amenities are in great condition and very clean. The location is FABULOUS!! Not only were we on an incredible beach, but we were in walking distance to grocery stores and great restaurants. We were well taken care of by both Renée the property manager and Sonia, the condo owner. Sonia informed us of some of the most interesting excursions we could do during our stay, and even recommended we go with Brian Gonzalez (who sometimes helps Renee out). We took advantage of her suggestions and had Brian organize a few excursions for us. He picked us up at the condo and brought us on an incredible riverboat tour. We saw crocodiles, exotic birds and monkeys really close up, then he brought us to lunch in an authentic Costa Rican home. The food was amazing. My son who eats nothing different had second helpings of EVERYTHING. On another occasion, Brian organized a day of ATV riding and ziplining... What an AWESOME time we all had (Brian's contact info is listed in our comments at the beginning of the book in the condo). We also wanted to mention that there is some incredible fishing at the resort. If you walk along the grass of the resort (by the water) toward the marina, there is a rock point. We saw huge puffer fish, stingrays jumping out of the water and other cool fish. There was lots to do in and around the resort and we never got bored. We would recommend this condo to anyone visiting Costa Rica. Liz & RichardRecommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children.

I highly, HIGHLY recommend this condo!! My fiance and I traveled around Costa Rica for three weeks and spent our last week here. It was fabulous!! I did a ton of research before booking, and can't even express how much this condo exceeded our expectations! The condo is right on the ocean and the views are just incredible. Every morning we sat on our balcony that overlooked what usually was our own private beach. The condo is very clean, modern, elegantly decorated, and has all of the features you should need. The property manager, Rene is just great and even drove us to the grocery store upon our arrival, showed us some of the town and local recommendations (restaurants, coffee shops, activities, etc), and than arranged for a taxi to take us back to the condo. Sonia, the owner, was also just wonderful to work with, She was very prompt with email replies and provided us not only with information about the surrounding areas of Flamingo, but also throughout Costa Rica. Although the beach out front is a bit rocky, we still went swimming every day when the tide was out, as you can see where the rocks are. Otherwise, within minutes you can get to the pristine white and black sand beaches. Sol y Mar was by far our favorite restaurant (we went there twice!). You will never see another view like it! However, if you are looking for a more traditional soda, we also loved El Estero Azul for very reasonable prices and a more authentic Costa Rican experience. As far as activities, the Lazy Lizard catamaran tour was one of our favorite experiences the entire time we were in Costa Rica, and it departs right from the marina in Flamingo. Drinks overflowed, we sailed, we snorkeled with sharks and fish, we had dinner, saw many islands in the Pacific, fished, and sailed back to shore to a spectacular sunset on the Pacific! The resort the condo is in is very nice and safe. We didn't spend a whole lot of time within the resort, as we wanted to explore the towns and swim in the ocean, but we definitely enjoyed a few cocktails at the Monkey Bar. We never felt like we were in a 'resort', we always had tons of privacy and the whole trip was very romantic. We were so pleased with our stay, and were so sad to have to leave. If you are considering Flamingo, don't think twice about booking this condo, you won't regret it!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed here for a week. It was a great location. The pictures on this site do not do it justice. It has a great patio with a wonderful view of the ocean and the area. You can't quite see the sunset from here but you can if you walk up the hill just outside the complex. It is beautiful to sit out there and eat as there is a table and plenty of chairs.. The sun is on the balcony for a brief time in the morning and then it has shade all day. There was a nice breeze every day so we never had to run the air conditioning. The doors to the patio are large and they slide open. The owner was very helpful and her on site manager,Renee, was too. There is plenty of information on places to eat and tours to take. Renee can help with arrangement also. From the condo you can walk to the beach, the marina area and the little downtown area. The beach in front of the condo is small. There is a grocery store there that has about everything you need. A larger one is about 6 miles outside of Flamingo on the way to the airport. We only rented a car for a couple of days which Renee was able to help us arrange. It was dropped off at the condo and picked up there. It is a gated community so we always felt safe. There is a dive shop on site which also rents kayaks and other water equipment. There is also a restaurant and bar on the premises. The complex next door has a lap pool. There are tennis courts too. Several restaurants are in the area but we usually cooked as the kitchen is well equipped. The condo has a nice open air feeling to it. Marie's and Mar y Sol were two we did try. The sunset was spectacular at the bar at Mar y Sol, French flare and the food was great. Marie's is a good place for breakfast but they also serve food all day. Several of the area restaurants will pick you up and that is handy if you don't want to rent a car. There are plenty of tours you can arrange that are not far away. The power went out a few times but it was never off for long. One day the water pump needed to be fixed but we had plenty of warning and made arrangements to be elsewhere while they were working. It was back on when we returned later in the day. The WiFi was reliable and there is a TV but we never turned it on. It was a great place to rent and a good place to relax. We would definitely go back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

I have been back for just over a week now and I'm still having trouble readjusting. I simply did not want to leave and I'm already planning my next trip.> > The condo is very comfortable, well decorated and very clean just as shown in the pictures. The constant sound and smell of the ocean is intoxicating. I started every morning and ended every day on the balcony overlooking the ocean. It's a small piece of heaven. The master suite has a large sliding floor to ceiling wood/glass door that opens onto another private balcony. I went to bed every night with that door wide open. The symphonic sounds of the ocean rocked my soul to sleep every night. The grounds and facilities of the resort were as expected and my daughters enjoyed exploring and playing in the different pools. The Monkey Bar restaurant/bar is an experience in itself(all good). > > The condo is perfectly located. There is a wide range of restaurants within walking distance for all tastes and budgets. I personally loved the blackened chicken (huge portion) at Maries and the make a great Mojito! We explored several beaches, all different, beautiful and enjoyable for different reasons. Playa Dante's black sand beach was certainly a highlight, as was the drive thru the small towns. I recommend stopping and exploring as it is a great way to experience the local culture. There are an endless number of things to experience. We took the Palo Verde river boat tour which is incredible especially with kids. We also went on an adventure tour at Rincon de la Vieja national park which included, horse back riding, tubing down a white water river, lunch, zip lining and ended the day relaxing in hot springs courtesy of the volcano. The country is tourist friendly yet completely unspoiled. It is spectacular. Make sure to leave yourself some time to enjoy the sunsets from a beach and/or at one of the restaurants/bars with tables in the sand…> > I travelled with my daughters aged 7 and 9 and always felt safe. To my delight, the locals always treated them like queens. I also had the good fortune and timing of being in a small rural town located on a dirt road when school let out for the day. I won't give away the details (all good) but it certainly provided me with insight as to why my daughters were treated so well. > > The owner is a delight to deal with and provides you with an information sheet containing several useful tips to help you enjoy your stay. The property manager is equally as helpful.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: Picture taken at Playa Grande (the most incredible sunset location) on my visit in February.
Why the Owner Chose Flamingo Beach:
I visited Costa Rica earlier this winter and fell in love with it, especially the view.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
It is just impossible to feel stressed while you are there. The locals joke that the most stressful part of their day is making sure that they don't miss the sunset. I can't wait to get back myself, but in the meantime I hope you enjoy it!
