This place is rad! We stayed for three nights with two couples and had a great time in this cozy apartment. We loved sitting on the balcony looking out at the ocean, soaking up the sun. It's so close to the Strand so we spent the majority of our time relaxing on the beach and bumming around Hermosa. The beach chairs and cruisers were an added bonus. We were sad to leave but we'll be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We had a fantastic vacation by the beach at this rental! As all of the other reviews have mentioned, the amenities couldn't have been better. The apartment was cozy and comfortable and exactly what we needed while we were in the area. Our 3-year-old loved sleeping in the trundle bed in the second bedroom, and the balcony had a high ledge so we felt safe with him there. Alex did a great job of checking in with us, and like everyone has said, the food basket was a wonderful treat so that we didn't have to go to the store the first night we were there. We would highly recommend this rental!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed for four very lovely nights in this cosy upstairs apartment. Loved having the garage to put the car in, and the general comfort level was excellent, from the quality furnishings in the living room to the best beds we've ever had in a vacation rental. There was even a porta-crib for the toddler. We didn't make use of most of the fun perks provided, as we were there to help out our kids who just had a baby, rather than for a beach vacation — and it's mid-winter and was cold, but being so close to the beach, a short 2 block walk, was just stellar. And, it was quite quiet, away from the action just enough for us. We could see the ocean from the windows, and took long evening walks by the water. This will definitely be our go-to place to stay when we visit the kids again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This rental is an excellent option for anyone looking to stay in Hermosa Beach in the center of all the area has to offer! Like Alex's very helpful YouTube video says, you are a very short walk to the Beach!, Bars!, Restaurants!, The Pier!, and "the strand!" which a massive well paved boardwalk right on the beach going all up and down the beach cites. I strongly recommend using the included bikes to take a relaxing ride down by the ocean! You can lock the bikes up almost anywhere around town (restaurants / pier etc), and explore a town with lots to offer! Sitting on the balcony watching the sunset while the ocean breeze hits your face will make you wonder why you don't live there. However the balcony leads me to my one single CAUTION: If you are traveling with "party people" in their twenties and thirties, you need to for sure do a better job than I did of keeping them quiet late at night. People below and all around the rental were extremely nice to us, but obviously they need to work in the morning and don't want loud people on the balcony waking them up. But that's clearly more of a knock on my group than the house. Realistically at night you should either be 1.) sleeping or 2.) better yet, partying down at any of the great bars down by the Hermosa Pier. Hit up "OceanBar" if you like the dance / club scene, or "Sharkeez" if you want to sit back, have some beers while watching sports and enjoying the free chips and salsa bar. Alex actually clearly explained all this to me ahead of time, and me to them, but my group rarely listens to me. I'd assume this wont be an issue with most renters. The main thing though that differentiates this place from all the others in the area that we contacted, is that the Smith family goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The rental process was a breeze, had great prompt communication, and all the extras like the gift basket waiting for you on the table really make this best overall value in the area. A member of my party actually broke the included "skimboard," and by chance I ran into Alex (manager) and explained the situation, he reassured me that it was no problem, was covered by the insurance, and he even replaced it with a new one the same day without me even asking! If you are looking for a great place, with great location, great value, and many extras that others in the area don't offer, this is the place! 5 stars!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: An excellent review! I am happy to act as concierge during your visit as I know owners and managers at most restaurants and bars in the area. I also provide a collection of coupons in the kitchen on the tack-board. Mom's gift baskets for every traveler has been a hit so far. Being able to use VRBO/Homeaway's property damage protection (PDP) policy has been super useful, allowing us to replace damaged items without hassle. It's much more palatable for travelers to pay $49 ahead of time, instead of forking over several thousand in security deposits and walk on pins and needles during their stay.

My family and I had a very nice stay in this apartment. The location is very close to the beach and the Hermosa Beach pier. The amenities were also nice - there was a large array of food waiting for us when we arrived, and the supply of bikes, beach gear, and the like was very useful. Alex was also very responsive to the few issues we had. All in all a very nice place to stay!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Alex, Thank you so much for a great place to stay in Hermosa Beach. We had a great summer holiday and truly appreciated your help with supplies, directions and advice. We loved being able to walk to the Beach, the Pier and the Market and go for a cruise on the bikes. We also really appreciated the welcome hamper after a long international flight.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

There were only pleasant surprises on our ten day stay in Hermosa. The home was even better stocked than advertised, both inside and out. The beach gear was plentiful and very appreciated. The owner and property manager were very helpful in every way. We really enjoyed spending time on the balcony and utilizing the furnished bikes on The Strand. The weather was perfect and I taught my daughter to body surf. We had a great vacation.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Mom makes it a point of providing a gift basket full of snacks to all our travelers. I always have a tack-board filled with coupons and menus to local restaurants and bars. And I love it when guests take me up on the offer to do personal family portraits at the beach or take home one of my Surreal Sunsets pictures on canvas! Hope you love the print that's on its way to your home, Rob!

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1984
About the owner: My wife and I have lived in the South Bay for 3 generations. We raised two sons in the South Bay of Los Angeles. Our whole family loves the ocean, so we could never live away from the beach. Boating from King Harbor Marina just a couple blocks to the south is one of our passions.
Why the Owner Chose Hermosa Beach:
I bought the property because it is across the street from the home my father and I built ourselves and where I grew up. I love the area.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
It's so easy to walk to the Strand, go for a bikeride, go shopping, dining and enjoy outdoor recreation, all in the same place and without getting in a car!
