In the pedestrian street 'rue du Grand-Veneur' near a rose garden, the area is extremely safe day and night and apartment 59167 is comfortable, quiet and surrounded by nature (very soundless and peaceful when you need some rest). You will feel like in a peaceful village without any noise of cars or people and at the same time you will be located in the heart of old Paris at 200 meters from the famous Place des Vosges. The Rue du Grand-Veneur is now closed by fences at night for more security and privacy.
Measuring 30 square meters, the apartment is located conveniently on the first floor of a quiet building with access code and safe guards.
The interior features parquet floors and elegant track lighting and provides a very comfortable 160x200 bed that folds out and a nice dressing with large mirrors.
In the fully-equipped kitchen with real Italian marble, glass table and double deep metal sinks, you will find everything you may need to cook gourmet French meals : a nice and big oven, a tactile cooking table, toaster, refrigerator and microwave.
Do not bring huge luggages and too many clothes, a washer and dryer is available for you in the apartment.
The living room has a desk with a laptop connected to Internet (WIFI available). Phone calls on wired and mobile phones are offered internationally. You will also enjoy the 37' LCD TV cabled to English and American channels and linked to a DVD player.
This apartment also offers a very romantic bathroom with a bath Jacuzzi without jets but a powerful shower.
Windows open onto a very private central green garden with birds and trees, and without access from outside. Thanks to the large window the apartment is very bright.
The Place des Vosges (Vosges' square) lies in the heart of the fashionable Marais district, where are the famous beautiful paintings museums Carnavalet, Cognay Jay, and Picasso. The Marais also features an homogeneous square design, lovely arcades, and plenty of nice art galleries around peaceful and refreshing gardens.
The apartment is an ideal starting point for a visit to the Marais district or shopping in the rue des Francs-Bourgeois near-by. The nearest metro stations are Chemin Vert on line 8 and Saint-Paul on line 1. Leaving the apartment, you can also reach on foot the Pompidou center (15 minutes), the Bastille opera (five minutes), or the Notre-Dame cathedral (15 minutes), Le Louvre (15 minutes), Opéra (20 minutes), Champs-Elysées (25 minutes), all of them very pleasant walks.
To help you during your stay, more than 15 different guidebooks on Paris are at your disposal in the apartment with France and metro lines maps.
Finally, be sure that I will do everything to help you preparing your vacation or when arrived in Paris (please don't forget to read guest comments).
If this apartment -59167- is not anymore available, please have a look at apartment 274186.This other apartment is also wonderfully located in Marais most famous street and provides the same advantages at this one.

Disappointing Marais Apartment

Having stayed in this unit twice previously and been more than satisfied, we were very disappointed with the deterioration in the provided amenities this January. For instance, the glass table had a large crack on arrival (and broke completely during our stay meaning we had to make do with a small coffee table when eating in), the toilet flushing mechanism consistently malfunctioned and had to be fixed by my husband on several occasions, the toilet roll holder was broken, the cutlery and crockery had many missing pieces (no wine glasses at all) and the range hood failed to work at all (including the light). Perhaps we were just unlucky but.would look elsewhere for an apartment if visiting Paris again, although would most certainly be looking in the Marais. Adore this area!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: I am really sorry for my tenants, they were very unlucky with the table. As soon as they told me the table broke, i said they could use the desk table instead (much better than the coffe table they used). I spent several hours on Internet and went to several department stores and finally found in one day a right size/right shape table that could be delivered within three days. Unfortunately, the delivery was late and the table arrived the day they left. I always try to react very quickly to my tenants problems or requests. Having been here twice before, my tenants knew i am always available for them, eager to help (and that's also why tenants usually come back to my place), so it is a pity they did not call me. It would just have been so easy to bring new wine glasses, to show them (again!) how to switch on the lights and to set properly the flush in the toilet. Well, for whoever in the future stays here, remember i will always be available for you, so please call me (just press "M1" on the apartment's phone) if you have some problems or questions, if you need some help booking a taxi or a table in a restaurant or even advices to go to the Loire valley or D-Day beaches on a day trip. I have a full-time job as software engineer, so my rental activity is just an extra, motivated mostly by the fun of meeting new people, speaking english and helping travellers. So do not hesitate, take advantage of me!

Staying for 4 nights in Didier's apartment, on our first trip to Paris, was an unbelievable experience! Everything that we had read about the apartment's appearance, amenities and location were spot-on! We enjoyed having our breakfast there...with fruit, cheeses, croissants and coffee that we purchased at the near-by G20 market. The metro (Chemin Vert) was an easy jaunt; and the pedestrian access to Didier's apartment was a safe, welcoming return after a long day of touring! We esp. enjoyed our wine and cheese, out in the gardens, before selecting which near-by small cafe we would have dinner! Thank you, Didier, for a wonderful stay and for arranging our taxi service to CDG on 5/17. We hope to return to stay in your apartment. Carolyn and JohnRecommended for: Age 55+.

My husband and I came to Paris for a week and stayed here on a recommendation. We were quite happy with both the location and the apartment. We would be quite happy to repeat the experience. It is walkable to all sights and very relaxing and serene to come home to.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My husband, baby, and dog stayed at the apartment over the US Thanksgiving weekend and love it! It was conveniently located on the bottom floor which helped with our stroller. Once inside, it was quite quiet and cozy with everything we needed to feel at home. Although we did not cook, the kitchen was well equipped with an American sized refrigerator. The location was amazing and what we loved most of all. Supermarkets, bakeries, and a cheese shop were all within ~5 min walking distance. We never used the metro but rather walked everywhere during our stay. Although we walked a LOT, some much was within reasonable walking distance (Notre Dame, Champs Elysees, Louvre, etc). We did walk to the Eiffel Tower, but I recommend good walking shoes for that trip! We currently live in Europe and want to get back to Paris for another long weekend when time permits. We would be very happy staying in this property again.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

My experience in Didier's apartment was nothing less than wonderful. For the past several years, I have been spending a few weeks during the fall in Paris and this stay was one of the best. The accommodations were great. For a single traveler, and even a couple, this is the perfect place. Reasonable rate, spectacular location, and the most hospitable host. The caretaker of the property and the tenants in the building are very friendly. Fantastic local cafes and restaurants, not to mention supermarkets, both large and small. Convenient Metro stops very near the apartment. Highly recommend!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

It is hard to add anything to all of the fantastic reviews already placed for this rental property! From the very beginning, the landlord was extremely responsive, from my initial inquiry, to the barrage of emails I sent asking various questions about a hair dryer, how to make my deposit, changing the dates of the stay. Throughout it all, he replied almost immediately (within 24 hours for sure, more like 12 hours), and was very pleasant and helpful. The property itself was clean, well maintained and very well equipped (kitchen - microwave, refrigerator, stove, oven, washer/dryer; bathroom - with a hair dryer :D, large bath tub; entertainment center with flat panel tv, DVD player, nice speakers; laptop and wireless Internet for use with my iPad; fold out sofabed that was surprisingly (to me) very comfortable (the most comfortable sofabed I have ever slept on, actually was equivalent to a normal bed)). It is a studio, but had plenty of space for my wife and me, and compared to some other accommodations I have stayed at in Europe, this place was very spacious (particularly with the bed folded up). Oh yeah, and there are extra guidebooks and a little reading library there too! With regard to the location, as other reviewers have stated, the apartment door takes you to a courtyard area that is very quiet, and sheltered from major road/traffic noise. The neighborhood feels very safe, and walking distances to most places was quite reasonable. 5 minute walk from the front door to the subway, a reasonable walk to most places to visit in the la Marais area. We actually, walked home from the Louvre.... which was a bit far... but feasible... (probably will just take the metro next time!). Overall, this apartment was a fantastic place to stay, and when we come back to Paris (someday), we will certainly be looking to stay here again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

This apartment is so quiet and away from traffic and noise. You can even have the windows opened and still very quiet, nice surroundings and nice bathroom and bath tube. The area (4 arrondissement/Maris) is just so fantastic and there are so many nice bars, restaurants, market, shops, etc. However, the apartment is not very big when you have made the bed ready for two persons. But for sure we can recommend it and we would like to return to this apartment.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I spent 2 weeks in Paris in February 2010 [I am writing this much later, but I somehow owe it], when I came for a series of performances at the Opera, TCE and Salle Pleyel. I digged out this cosy nice little place and found it as an almost perfect venue for just about everything it has to offer. The location was great, a few minutes of walk to Opera Bastille [and this proved a great asset when I discovered one evening that the performance was starting half an hour earlier than the usual hour]; Opera Garnier and the others easily reached by subway; in fact, just the whole Paris is at your feet and easily reachable. It was not difficult to come from the airport, although it took 2 changes on the way. The host was waiting us and was very nice about everything. The place is just big enough for one guy, a couple or a small family, with a large bed that can accomodate even 3 people, or at least 2 adults and one child. Inside it has just about everything you need: a fully equipped kitchen [with a lot of things that I never used], a large fridge with freezer, a large capacity washer/dryer and a very nice bathroom; for those who like it, ther is a full high quality home-theatre system, with a large LCD [lots of tv-stations], dvd-player and surround-audio; it also provides a good internet connection, which was extremely useful for some things we had to do during the stay. The heating was fine and the position makes it convenient and quiet, far from the street noises. There is also a mini-market close by, where you can buy what you want as food and house-ware. It is clean and easy to keep, so....what more can it be added? If I would want to find something less perfect, it would be the front door, that was not properly insulated [this may have changed in the meanwhile] and a strong flow of cold air was passing underneath it. It also proved little noise protection in case someone made a fuss outside. But........were I to come back if given a chance? Definitely YES!!!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This apartment is much larger than the average studio in Paris and is quite beautiful with an especially handsome bathroom. Out the very large windows is a small but lovely green space with trees, visited by absolutely no one except the large Wood Pigeons and the small Blackbirds--it's a tiny nature reserve. Even better for an older person with poor knees (i.e. me), the apartment is on the ground floor, so there are no steps at all--another Paris rarity. The building itself is sympathetic modern construction semi-connected to a much older building, which I believe is the 17th c. house of the Grand Veneur (hunting master) of the street name. The two buildings sort of surround a large courtyard (large enough for kids to play football despite the signs forbidding that, but no one seems to mind and the kids are very nice about it) and containing at the other end an extensive rose garden--almost as large and varied as the famous one at the Jardin des Plantes--it's an exceptionally nice, quiet place for a glass of wine in the evening (there is no traffic noise at all in this pedestrian area). The neighborhood has all the conveniences you need, including a large supermarket very close by--go out the coutryard's back entrance and it's right down the alley a hundred feet. For the bank and other things, go out the front entrance and there out on the Boulevard is everything you could possibly need. The Place des Vosges, one of Paris's most beautiful squares, is just two blocks away (out the back entrance again) for a nice place to dine or read on a shady bench or sit on the grass in the sun. Both the Place Bastille and Republique are easy walks with again all manner of shops, cafes, restaurants, and even the opera house (not to mention excellent Metro connections). But a lot is in walking distance; the Pompidou is only a few blocks west and the Carnavalet is even closer on very lively Rue des Bourgeois Francs, along with the rest of the trendy Marais. The cute "Village" of St. Paul is a couple of blocks further south (with an excellent English language bookstore if you need one--I did--I wanted to read Flaubert's Sentimental Education and got one there). Even the Seine is an easy walk, and I strolled down there and along the river every evening and most mornings too. So in case you haven't noticed, this is a rave review, and by the way, Didier is the perfect landlord--ready to help if needed, out of the way, when not. Thanks for eveyrthing, Didier!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

About the owner: I am the owner and work as software engineer. I love to travel in remote areas and visited many countries. I realised some documentaries (Afghanistan, Indonesia) that were shown in movie festivals. I am very sensitive to other culture and that's probably why i love to meet my guests and practice my English. It is always nice to meet people coming from all over the world.
Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 4:
Le Marais is one of the most beautiful and charming area of Paris, concentrating most of the oldest buildings in the city. This is also a great shopping area during the day, and nice spot to go out in the evening. Located in a pedestrian alley, the apartment is preserved from noise and cars and at the same time it is in the heart of historical Paris. I could not find a better place than this place!
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Quiet and secured place in a pedestrian alley, the location is really fantastic, and this is only 200 meters close from the famous Place des Vosges and Picasso museum. Also, the apartment is very convenient for everyday life with three small supermarkets nearby and a great open market on Sunday. When not cooking, many restaurants can be found 10 minutes walk away, around Place de la Bastille or Place de la République.
