  • What an Experience!

"Lara (owner) was so very helpful with all our questions and gave us details about what to expect. The 3 of us, including my daughter an eleven year old, had the unique experience of a life time. We decided not to rent a car and it was a good decision for us. We were such a part of wildlife with monkeys howling at 5:30 am, parrots yacking, and a beautiful beach filled with surfers just steps away. Lady, the wonderful caretaker, cooked all of our meals and they were delicious and healthy to boot. People came to our door selling fish, bread, etc and even a massage. We loved the Costa Ricans and the people all around that made our trip so very special. Thanks Lara for all your hard work building this beautiful home but especially getting that pool through the jungle so we could take a dip and cool off at any time!!!"

  • Best Place in Matapalo

"My husband, friends and family have stayed at this property over New Years for the past 5 years. We have spent extensive time in Costa Rica, and the Cabo Matapalo area. This is by far the best property in the area in terms of locations, convenience, finishing, and service. Isaac and Desiree (the on-site property managers) are lovely, and generous. The house is exactly as the photos depict. Pure paradise. Highly recommend staying here."

  • Magical place, magical people

"We loved "Tres Palmas"! The wildlife around the property was as good as it gets. The villa offers every configuration of beds/rooms a large group could ask for. The caretakers not only cooked wonderful meals for our group, but they helped us organize some guided hikes and dinners in the neighborhood. Since we were deep in the middle of nowhere, having this kind of help was very useful. We liked the hike through the rainforest down to the beach everyday, and especially enjoyed "pan dulce" beach for its beauty and great community feel. We are still dreaming about our great adventure to this magical place, and planning to come back."

  • Beautiful spot with wonderful assistance by owners

"We wanted to spend time in CR with our young adult children + their friends. Casa Bambu is a gorgeous location. Lyn advised us on various itinerary choices, and took care of the booking contacts, a service which was in itself worth the price of our lodging. In December, some days were humid, but it was surprisingly tolerable. Casa Linda is beautiful, clean, and well-equipped. Kirk, who happened to be there during our stay, made sure that we got what we needed, from pizza pans to extra clothespins. Macaws regularly snacked in the almond trees. Toucans, togons, hummingbirds, vultures, spider monkeys, squirrel monkeys, capuchins and agoutis made frequent appearances. And those amazing leafcutter ants! Pelicans entertained us at the beach as they dove to fish in synchronized groups of three. The calls of the howler monkeys provided the soundtrack to our stay. William, the caretaker, is a love. He opened coconuts, found us a massage therapist, and he and Kirk even ferried the guys out in a catamaran to meet their deep sea fishing boat. He is also a very knowledgeable nature guide who was patient with us "less-than-in-shape" hikers. We had Leda and Oliva prepare a meal for us. I showed them what we had, and 75 minutes later, they served up a great fish dish with salad and a potato, broccoli and onion medley. Caveat. Others have mentioned that the road from Puerto Jiménez is rough. This is no exaggeration. Anyone arriving from PJ should try to arrive before dark on that first trip. The potholes, rocks, narrow bridges and rivers can be negotiated, but doing it for the first time at night is stressful. Tours? Our outings included a Gulf dolphin tour combined with a visit to Santuario Silvestre. This was a highlight of the trip. We also did the delightful zip-line canopy tour with Eduardo. I would have liked to stop on the way back to visit Finca Kobo, a cocoa plantation on the route, but I also recommend taking Lyn’s advice to not book too many "outings." William can lead you on hikes to waterfalls and birding walks from the property; kayaking and swimming in the gulf is very pleasant. We ate several delicious meals at Martina’s, an easy walk from the house. So much to see and do right in the area, but it's also just a great place to "be.""
