Amazing weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This is the PERFECT getaway for two people who want to be away from the hustle-and-bustle of Tahoe City, but want to be near all the great things on the West Side. You can stroll to Sunnyside, Fire Sign Cafe, and the West Shore Market. The neighborhoods are great to walk the dog through, and meet lots of great Tahoe locals, as well as quick access to beaches (dog friendly and people only). The owners of this property are fantastic people you want to share a bottle of wine with.

The accommodations are classic mountain vibe, with outstanding woodworking craftsmanship throughout. It is very well maintained, and as comfy/cozy as can be. We will absolutely stay here again, and if you stay here, you will not regret it!

Had a great time at Carolyn's cabin. She and her husband were extremely attentive, hospitable and helpful when we arrived to get the heat going. The furnishings inside were nice and cozy, and we really enjoyed our stay. We'll be back!

Great location, cozy getaway but maybe not for small children or light sleepers.

  • 3 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the cabin for four nights with our 1 year old and black lab. Carolyn was a gracious host and gave great recommendations of where to eat and what to do nearby. The location is perfect if you're looking for a short walk to restaurants and the lake. Squaw is a 12 minute drive from door to slopes. Very convenient. Overall, we had a good stay, however there are several things I'd caution parents (or light sleepers) of before booking. The fridge compressor kicks on every half hour or so and when it turns off it makes an incredibly loud bang. It woke us up basically all night every night. Nap time for our daughter was extremely hard with the compressor noise and the skylights. There are no places that get dark enough for a daytime nap. There aren't full walls separating the bedroom/bathroom/living room/kitchen, meaning it is not ideal for putting a kiddo down to sleep and being able to continue on with dinner, tv, games etc. We travel all the time and our daughter is normally a rockstar sleeper, but we were all constantly tired on this trip. It would be an easy fix to replace the fridge. Previous reviewers have said the same thing and we figured the problem had been resolved when we booked. Not the case. We are easy to please people, and typically only give great reviews, but the fridge noise was bad enough that it had to be mentioned to forewarn the next renters, especially those with young children.

Owner's Response: Hello and thank you for your review. I visited with Brian daily and he did not mention this problem once but instead said everything was great. I wish he had, so that we would have had an opportunity to address the refrigerator issue during your stay. I know how difficult sleep deprivation can be.

My husband and I stayed here for our "baby moon". The cabin is beautifully decorated, and very comfy and relaxing. It was exactly what we were looking for. Carolyn was an absolutely wonderful host and provided us with lots of recommendations of places to go and things to see.
