About this property

Sullivan's Island Beach Home

Charming Sullivan's Island home located on a quiet street, directly across from the beach with primary beach path access. The 2nd story of the house, which is the 4 bedroom rental, has a very spacious screened in front porch ideal for quiet reading, or watching the world go by slowly. this is an ideal location for children, with an outdoor shower... perfect for washing off from your beach walk or activities.

Sullivans Island is a very special place. If you have not stayed at 2804 Marshall, please know this has been our family home for 44 years;

It is a quaint place where families can gather and share laughter, while manufacturing "new" memories. It is NOT the Hilton, it is not perfect. It is an older beach house with tremendous character and island presence.

Please know you are not just renting a house.. but a slice our inimitable little island with a salubrious climate. That said, we hope you enjoy your visit to this most historic location and friendly home.

-The house is just a 3 minute walk from the beach to the refrigerator, for a sandwich, cold drink or to the restroom. The house is affectionately referred to as Blaine's house, in loving memory of Blaine and Gerry Miller.

-In the event of a hurricane, during your scheduled stay, we will gladly discuss a refund.

Sullivan's Island Fall Retreat
Love the location of this house. The beach path is in front of the house. It's a quick bike ride to Isle of Palms. The island is great for biking. Charleston is close by and we found pickleball courts in the Old Village of Mt Pleasant.

Close to Beach
We loved this home for our family with two kids, two adults, and two grandparents. There was plenty of room to spread out as needed, but there was also enough space for us to all congregate together. Great proximity to beach access that was not crowded or heavily populated.

This house is the quintessential Sullivan's Island beach house. The location is wonderful. It was the perfect place for us to gather to celebrate my son's college graduation.

A Happy Place on the Best Southeast Beach
This long standing retreat invites relaxation, easy beach access, and time spent on the screened porch watching stars, hearing ocean sounds and catching up. Inside you'll find all that's needed for a great visit. Adults and kids enjoyed the home's layout that allowed for solitary reading, or games with family, while younger ones slept peacefully down the hall away from the action. The hallway with 2 king bedrooms (a real plus for the adults!) had a door allowing the back bedrooms to be closed off for added privacy. Our family members enjoyed the extra privacy this provided, since two families shared the home. Arrival to this home speaks to family fun, easy beach time, and room to spread out. We didn't expect total luxury, we chose a place for relaxed time to reconnect which had provisions for our comfort, and we found it here. The owners have responded to visitor suggestions through the years and have added touches that enhance comfort, security and ease, so that family vacation is top priority.

We has a wonderful stay here. The beach is so convenient, and the house had everything we needed. It comfortably accommodated our group of 8. We loved Sullivan’s island, and couldn’t imagine a better location.

Great stay at the beach
The house is close to the beach, the walkway is just across the street. The house is very well equipped with all cooking needs supplied. The screened-in porch is a delight. The home is older but well maintained and the bathrooms have been remodeled and were great. It is so well stocked for a beach house, all the staples are there, there were bottles of aloe left out, hand soap at every sink, salt and pepper, having the linens supplied saves much packing and there were even a couple of beach chairs left out. Will definitely rent again!

Quaint, Cozy, Convenient, Family Friendly
My family loves 2804 Marshall! It's just what we need for a family friendly, low maintenance vacation to Sullivan's Island. It's perfect for just our family and big enough to bring friends along if we'd like. The beach access is very convenient and you can't beat the relaxation on the porch. The owners/managers are very friendly and easy to work with. This is the sort of place that will continue to draw you back year after year.

Perfect for Families and Friends
The Miller house was absolutely perfect for myself and family to spend a vacation getaway together. We had our wedding ceremony on the beach opposite the house making it the perfect location for my family to stay in. The Millers even had a wonderful gift basket delivered to congratulate us. The beachouse offered more than enough space and amenities for us to cook and socialize. The rooms and house were clean, spacious, and comfortable and provided a cozy atmosphere for us to have a good time and make lasting memories.

Home away from home
My family and I wanted a getaway before the holiday season ended so headed to this great island. Although this home is older there's a feeling of nostalgia, comfort and peace you won't find in many other rentals. It's quaint charm provided easy access to the beach and easy access to the different ammentities on the island. The house was clean with lots of space. The owner Mark Miller was also very accommodating. If looking for a nice place to stay on a great island I highly recommend this home away from home.

Excellent Place to Make Memories
I love this place!!! The home is located on an excellent street, and the beach path is literally feet away from the front yard. Sullivan's Island is hottest spot in the Low Country (in my opinion), and this rental offers my family the only reasonable access to it. The quaint restaurants and the quiet sandy beaches make our vacation a memorable one every year. Today is mine and my wife's anniversary, and the island has really been on my mind today, as it was in that very house that I proposed to my wife! I have never had any issues with any of the homes functionalities. The price is perfect and the location is perfect... What more could you ask for?

Home Away From Home
This is the perfect place for a family vacation! When you walk through the door you immediately feel like you are at home. You have everything you need at the end of your finger tips. Large spacious rooms, awesome front porch, and just a minutes walk down the boardwalk to the beach; which is absolutely beautiful and never overly crowded. Down town Charleston is a fifteen drive. Our kids love the outdoor shower and that the park is only a short bike ride away. We are looking forward to our next trip. We will definitely continue making family memories here for many years to come!

Great location close to beach!
This vintage home well suited our needs. We didn't want a fancy new place but a roomy and comfortable home and this was it. It is very large with new bathrooms, wonderful porch too. Very close to beach which our grandchildren loved. Owner very responsive to any questions and concerns. We would rent here again.

Great rental on Sullivan's Island
This is a perfect vacation rental for families with small children! We just spent a week there with two familes with a total of four small children. The house is clean and has a terrific layout with the bedrooms on one end and the living room, kitchen and porch on the other end. The porch is perfect for enjoying the days and nights! The house is directly across from a beach access and the beach has a huge tidal pool perfect for the kids. The house is definitely old, but really perfect for our group. Would definitely stay again. Only recommendation would be moving the laundry room upstairs and adding heat to the outdoor shower.

We give this house a five star rating.
Lovely beach house within walking distance of beach with boardwalks to the beach. The home had all of the comforts of home. The kitchen was fully equipped for cooking for the family. Front porch was great to visit with friends and family. Love the painting on the porch "whatever happens on the porch stays on the porch." We were able to ride bicycles around the island and onto the beach. House is located within a few miles of Charleston with lots of historical places to visit. We will stay at this location again.

About the host

Hosted by Mark Miller

Host profile image
Our family has owned this house since 1977, the house was built in 1952 and like our neighbors the Rephans on the left, and the Hickmans on our right, has survived even Hurricane Hugo. The other homes are simply new construction in a very special place, where the older island homes still stand.

Our house is a typical pre Hugo house, that exudes more comfort and love rather than big screen tv's or elevators. We have hosted family weddings, birthdays and graduations from this privileged perch..all because Blaine and Gerry Miller were married here in downtown Charleston during WWII and decided after chasing a corporate dream to make 2804 Marshall Blvd home. There are two other homes on the island that are the same style and type as this house. One of which is also down the street on Marshall Blvd beachside.

This is the spot where our kids have searched for sea treasure, made lemonade stands, learned to ride bicycles, count the pelicans named 'George and Myrtle' and greet people from their day at the beach. One thing to know if you are interested in renting our house..it is really the spot on Sullivan’s you are renting, not the brick and mortar. The house that sat across the street from ours hosted the great playwright Arthur Miller, and behind us in the little postage stamp cottage built in 1909..other writers have sought refuge. Sullivan’s is well known as the inspiration for the likes of Edgar Allen Poe, and Pat Conroy.

If you do not know these names then perhaps the Holiday Inn would be better suited for your express vacation...

Why they chose this property

Sullivan's Island is indeed a special place. Almost every step you take while visiting on this quaint little respit has some historical significance..it truly is NOT Myrtle Beach, nor Destin or South Miami Beach or Hilton Head. It is it's own unique piece of history covered with an ambient heir of Tranquility. It is a place where families can manufacture great memories that will test grandfather time..it is safe and serene..

What makes this property unique

Originally, Sullivan's Island was a waypoint for miscreants. It blossomed into a summer beach retreat for Charlestonians..and now is a place where several generations have called home....ours included.

Please be mindful in your visit of the precious Eco system that comprises our small barrier island, and the robust and burgeoning wildlife at waters edge. Sea Oats are scattered along the beach path as a hideaway for small rabbits, and serve as precious building blocks to prevent erosion. Sea turtles are also native and have visited the 28 station beach in front of our house many times over the years.

One morning sitting quietly on the front porch about 1:30 a.m., I saw something I have never seen in the 44 years at our house..I watched with amazement, 2 small deer in the front yard grazing.

We sincerely hope you and your family enjoy this simple retreat as much as we have these four decades....sincerely and without reservation...Mark Miller
