About Shelda

I have been in the vacation rental business for 20 years and LOVE what I do.

Some of the homes in Maggie Valley on VRBO are owned by me and my husband, and I manage others. I am so fortunate to live in these beautiful Smoky Mountains and I enjoy helping vacationers by sharing my knowledge of the area.

Shelda purchased this cabin in 1985

Why Shelda chose Smoky Mountains

My husband and I moved to Maggie Valley 20 years ago. He is a builder so it didn't take long for us to start searching for land to build our family home. We love the changes of the seasons. It is a site to behold.(not to mention the mountain views) I hope you will get a chance to visit here if you haven't already. There's no place like it!

What makes this cabin unique

We have added a playground. It is a huge flat area above the home on an acre of land. We have a swing, picnic table, bonfire area, sand box, and games for the kids. (badminton, and horse shoes)

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful stay at Shelda's and Scott's home in Maggie Valley. We've been coming for years and we always love to stay in their homes. Fox Loop is especially nice.

We love the quietness and the sound of the creek below. Seeing the elk in the yard is a real treat! You don't get that just anywhere in Maggie Valley. Thank you Shelda, for providing us with nice, clean homes each year. We love all the ones we've tried but especially this one.

What a great location and view!

We had a great experience renting Fox Loop. Kitchen was well-stocked. House was clean and prepared upon our arrival. There were plenty of extra sheets, towels, blankets, and pillows. Owner was quick to respond to inquiries. The porch was so relaxing. We saw 6-7 elk around the house at one time. All in all, a great week at a great house.

Fox Loop

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Fox Loop. My family and I rented Fox Loop for a week in May 2017 for our family vacation. My daughter and grandson flew in from Norway and I wanted him to experience our beautiful mountains in North Carolina. Normally when vacationing my husband and I went move around from Hotel to Hotel but having two small children with us, we thought it would be better to rent a cabin. Boy were we right!!!! We loved that Fox Loop was pretty much secluded. There are two other cabins near by, but during our stay they were empty. The deck offers a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains. We also saw Elk on the main access round leading up to the cabin. I get home sick after a few days, but for some reason Fox Loop felt like my home. I would highly recommend staying at Fox Loop and we will be staying there again. And did I mention how wonderful the soap smelled in the bathrooms? The soap in her cabin is from Hazelwood Soap Company in Waynesville. My mother and I visted their store and bought some of their wonderful products. Thank you for sharing your cabin with me and my family. We had a blast and made many new memories.

Amazing View and Super Neat Cabin

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Fox Loop last week and we had a GREAT time! The front deck was incredible and it was SO nice to relax in the hot tub after skiing. The ski area was only about a 15 minute drive away and the cabin wasn't too far from Maggie Valley but still secluded! We thoroughly enjoyed the view on the deck and the wood-burning fireplace! Cute, neat cabin. It was perfect for the two of us (but would sleep 6 more even!). We'll definitely try to come back in summer or fall when the views are even more gorgeous! Thanks Shelda for everything!

Fox trot

  • 3 of 5

No smoke dectectors, no stoppers for both bathtubs so couldn't take baths. Dead bugs and ants all thru out the cabin. Small hot tub, was cramped with five adults. Pressure of the jets sucked. Nice mountain view and saw plenty of elk. One of the bedrooms was small and had no closet. Other than that we had a great family vacation.

Owner's Response: Hi Lessie, I'm sorry you had a bad experience with those few issues. We take pride in our homes and I wish we would have known about this during your stay. I'm wondering why you had five people instead of the two I had listed as coming. I advertise the bedrooms as 2 with queens and one with a king. The bonus room has a queen and it is not a bedroom. I always like to explain the sleeping arrangements when there are that many people. I hope you can come again.

Great house with an AMAZING view!

  • 5 of 5

We were here for Thanksgiving, and this house was just perfect for our family of 3 and 2 grandparents. The house has an AMAZING view, and we loved sitting on the deck in the rocking chairs listening to the stream below. My son loved the hot tub, and being able to swim and look out at the mountains in November. We enjoyed nightly fires in the fireplace and utilized the well stock kitchen. I would highly recommend this home, as I know we will be coming back! In addition, this house is great if you have limited mobility, as it is all on one floor. My son requires the use of a walker/wheelchair, and he was able to easily move around the house and the deck.
