I have been in the vacation rental business for 20 years and LOVE what I do. Some of the homes in Maggie Valley on VRBO are owned by me and my husband, and I manage others. I am so fortunate to live in these beautiful Smoky Mountains and I enjoy helping vacationers by sharing my knowledge of the area.
Why Shelda chose Maggie Valley
My husband and I moved to Maggie Valley 20 years ago. He is a builder so it didn't take long for us to start searching for land to build our family home. We love the changes of the seasons. It is a site to behold.(not to mention the mountain views) I hope you will get a chance to visit here if you haven't already. There's no place like it!
What makes this Cabin unique
We have added a playground. It is a huge flat area above the home on an acre of land. We have a swing, picnic table, bonfire area, sand box, and games for the kids. (badminton, and horse shoes)

Great layout; beautiful granite and stone floors in the bathrooms; spectacular deck and view!
Nice location on the mountain if that's what you're looking for! The cabin was very clean when we arrived. The dining, living room and deck furniture is nice. Plenty of linens and towels which was great. A couple of the queen beds are very firm. The king is softer and more comfy. All the beds have lots of pillows; all bedrooms have carpet; the rest of the house has hardwood floors. There is a working fireplace we enjoyed. It was too chilly for an outdoor fire but there is a nice, flat area designated. The dvd player is not in the living room but built into the tv in the master bedroom; the kids watched one movie one night in there so I slept elsewhere. The kitchen is what I would expect in a cabin--very functional. Good icemaker in the freezer. The dishwasher and washer and dryer are a plus if you have messy kids or are staying for awhile. Water (assuming well water) was wonderful...we drank right from the tap and we can't do that at home. My husband loved the big charcoal grill and says it was the best he ever cooked on. The hot water heater is good for one shower but second showers or running the dishwasher must be spaced out. My daughters and I thought the hut tub was just right, but the hubbins' wanted stronger jets. I loved sitting in the living room chairs and being able to look right out and admire the mountain. Overall, this is a really nice rental up and away from it all, reasonably priced. The playground was very close and a good place for the kids to go and walk the dog. There are some books, puzzles and games but I would recommend bringing your own board games because the ones provided are dated. Wifi worked well enough for research but we couldn't make calls on our mobiles. There is a very old landline phone but no long distance service. We barely used the tv. It felt so peaceful and I didn't want anything to intrude. The only big negative is there is no place to store garbage outside and you have to drive quite a ways to get rid of it or pay extra. Sure there are a few things that could be spruced up (new couch pillows, wallpaper in the hallway) but the owners have provided almost everything (bring your own flashlights or lantern) and the things that count the most are modern enough. Don't forget your own garbage bags and TP.
Overall, the cabin was nice. Pros were easy access, one story (made nice for a family with young children!), decent views, fully stocked kitchen, and has potential to rent the cabins next door. This would be a great cabin for a large family gathering with potential of renting up to 3 cabins at once. Cons were the overall cleanliness. The owner(s) were very nice and easy to talk to about anything relating to the cabin.
Beautiful view 😍
Cabin had beautiful views, there were a few things inside the home that we noticed (cobwebs, stained towels, and a few dirty/dusty walls) but nothing to discourage us from staying again. One thing that needs to be added to the description of the property is the road and parking situation. The road has a very tight switchback/turn that is hard to maneuver in a larger vehicle. Also the cabin has a shared driveway with the cabin next door which made parking and leaving a tricky situation with 2 vehicles. 4 wheel drive is a MUST in winter. Owners were very accomadating and nice and very quick to respond when we had questions or problems.
Thanksgiving at Fox Loop
Great Experience! The cabin had everything we needed and were expecting. Thanks, Katie!
As my husband said, the view makes this rental amazing. Plus the elk that walked by 10 feet from the house. Plus the quiet rooms. The house was well insulated and seemed very quiet. Two things to note: there is a dishwasher, it's hidden behind cupboard doors. And the house is one story. Three bedrooms are decent sized and down the hallway. One is tiny and next to the kitchen.
Quiet and Relaxing
First night we arrived Elk came walking right by the windows! Cabin is very nice. Porch has beautiful views. We couldn't get cell service which wasn't a problem for us since we wanted it to be quiet so we could unwind! There is wifi.
Elk have been seen at this Maggie Valley Vacation home. The herd lives just over the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Availablilty of this Maggie Valley home is not shown here as I have many other properties on VRBO.
