About Shelda

I have been in the vacation rental business for 20 years and LOVE what I do.

Some of the homes in Maggie Valley on VRBO are owned by me and my husband, and I manage others. I am so fortunate to live in these beautiful Smoky Mountains and I enjoy helping vacationers by sharing my knowledge of the area.

Shelda purchased this cabin in 1985

Why Shelda chose Smoky Mountains

My husband and I moved to Maggie Valley 20 years ago. He is a builder so it didn't take long for us to start searching for land to build our family home. We love the changes of the seasons. It is a site to behold.(not to mention the mountain views) I hope you will get a chance to visit here if you haven't already. There's no place like it!

What makes this cabin unique

This year we have added a playground. It is a huge flat area above the home on an acre of land. We have a swing, picnic table, bonfire area, sand box, and games for the kids. (badminton, and horse shoes)

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful stay at Shelda's and Scott's home in Maggie Valley. We've been coming for years and we always love to stay in their homes. Fox Loop is especially nice.

We love the quietness and the sound of the creek below. Seeing the elk in the yard is a real treat! You don't get that just anywhere in Maggie Valley. Thank you Shelda, for providing us with nice, clean homes each year. We love all the ones we've tried but especially this one.

My wife and I enjoyed or visit at Fox loop. Thank you so much for your hospitality. We found the home very comfortable and clean. The view is awesome and the visit each evening by the elk was a real treat.

Fox trot

  • 3 of 5

No smoke dectectors, no stoppers for both bathtubs so couldn't take baths. Dead bugs and ants all thru out the cabin. Small hot tub, was cramped with five adults. Pressure of the jets sucked. Nice mountain view and saw plenty of elk. One of the bedrooms was small and had no closet. Other than that we had a great family vacation.

Owner's Response: Hi Lessie, I'm sorry you had a bad experience with those few issues. We take pride in our homes and I wish we would have known about this during your stay. I'm wondering why you had five people instead of the two I had listed as coming. I advertise the bedrooms as 2 with queens and one with a king. The bonus room has a queen and it is not a bedroom. I always like to explain the sleeping arrangements when there are that many people. I hope you can come again.

Great house with an AMAZING view!

  • 5 of 5

We were here for Thanksgiving, and this house was just perfect for our family of 3 and 2 grandparents. The house has an AMAZING view, and we loved sitting on the deck in the rocking chairs listening to the stream below. My son loved the hot tub, and being able to swim and look out at the mountains in November. We enjoyed nightly fires in the fireplace and utilized the well stock kitchen. I would highly recommend this home, as I know we will be coming back! In addition, this house is great if you have limited mobility, as it is all on one floor. My son requires the use of a walker/wheelchair, and he was able to easily move around the house and the deck.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Amanda, for you kind review. The area where this home is in Maggie Valley is our favorite drive. We love the views too. Did you see the elk? A huge one was in the yard last night! I hope you and your family can come again soon.

Nice Cabin...But not the place for cruisers.

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I had a great time in Maggie Valley, and found the cabin to be very clean, the kitchen well supplied, and the master bed was extremely comfortable. Our only complaint would be the last 1/3 mile or so to the cabin. I spoke to the owner prior to renting to make sure it was motorcycle accessible, and she assured me that it is, and it may well be for a sport bike or small Harley. However, if you are on a large cruiser, this is not the cabin for you. There is a u-turn that is barely wide enough to ride a cruiser around with a very steep grade. The chances of riding through the u-turn are made next to impossible because if you swing wide enough to make the turn, you get into lose rocks. The only safe way to make the turn is to walk the bike through it, which is still tricky because of the steep grade. Also the parking area is a little unlevel, which makes turning around a 1000 lbs. bike a bit of a struggle. If we ever drive a car to Maggie Valley, we would happily stay at this cabin again, but not with a motorcycle.

Owner's Response: This response is late coming but I would like to add that if you are on a motorcycle and are not comfortable with the little bit of gravel, you can always park you trailer or motorcycle in the parking area belonging to the neighbor. Their home is paved all the way and they are rarely there. They have given us permission to park there.

What a great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and our three children loved staying in your home this past month. The kids expecially loved the playground area above the home. The cabin was well appointed and super clean! We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub while taking in the view. All we heard was the sound of the creek below! We will definately come back.

Relaxing and spacious

  • 4 of 5

Cabin was very spacious, didn't think it was going to be; pictures do not do it justice. Grand kids had a ball in master bedroom and hot tub. My children also enjoyed our stay. It was a very nice weekend for us all. Some trees could be trimmed for a better view, but in all, it was very nice. Would stay again, price very reasonable. Drive to get up to cabin was little tricky, but managed with no problems, even saw some Elk! Relaxing and inviting cabin. Playground and horseshoes we did not see. Back yard was grown up, could have been at bottom, but we did not venture that far.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your kind words. Fox Loop is scheduled for tree trimming this Sept. We hope to canopy them in hopes of saving some of the old growth. Hopefully, the view will be better than ever!
