The Space

This 5-star home combines rustic charm and modern luxury. The open-concept living area features vaulted ceilings, a cozy gas fireplace, a Sonos soundbar, a Smart TV, and ultra-fast Wi-Fi. The chef’s kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances, eco-friendly paperstone counters, a deep farmhouse sink, and a stainless steel island for gathering. A Nespresso machine (pods included), French press, and traditional coffee maker are provided for your morning ritual.

After a day on the slopes or trails, unwind in your private steam shower, offering a relaxing, spa-like experience. In summer, the outdoor patio and deck come alive with a BBQ grill, fire pit, and comfortable seating — the perfect setting for breathtaking sunsets over the mountains.

Master Suite (Downstairs) – Queen pillow-top bed with memory gel topper, luxury linens, Afghani dowry chests, and a spa-style ensuite with travertine tiles, antique mirror, and a private steam shower. Sleep soundly with your choice of pillows located in the chest.

Cowboy Bedroom (Upstairs) – Two twin beds, Grandpa’s cedar toy chest, charming western decor, and a sleek slate-tiled bathroom. A selection of children’s books and toys is available for younger guests.

Great little Carriage House, just steps from downtown Crested Butte…..just a block from shops, restaurants, coffee and brewery! Amazing mountain views from the upstairs living area, perfect space for my husband and myself and our 3 year old Labrador. Sitting on the chaise lounge every morning with coffee looking out at the mountains Very clean, bed was very comfortable with nice bedding. We had a wonderful stay overall. The home was clean, well-equipped, and in a great location. Communication was easy, and everything worked as expected.The only downside for us was the bedding. The queen beds were quite soft, and the pillows looked fluffy but compressed almost completely flat once you put your head on them. Unfortunately, we didn’t sleep well during our 4-night stay because of this. We woke up with backaches every morning. I even had to place an extra pillow under my entire back to get a little more support, which helped only slightly.Our friends mentioned that the twin beds were quite firm, but they still preferred them over the very soft queen beds. We think the mattresses and pillows could benefit from an upgrade, as improving the sleeping experience would make an otherwise excellent property even better.Other than the bed and pillow comfort, everything else was excellent, and we really enjoyed our time here.

Mattress comfort is very personal, and what works well for some guests doesn't always suit others. The queen bed is fitted with a premium mattress and a top-quality memory foam gel topper designed to provide pressure relief and contouring support. The vast majority of our guests have found the bed very comfortable. We also provide six additional pillow choices in the master bedroom, in addition to the four pillows on the bed, including three different firmness levels in both down and down-alternative styles. We're sorry that we were unable to provide a pillow and mattress combination that suited your comfort preferences during your stay. Thank you again for staying with us and for your feedback. This place worked out perfectly. A short walk to downtown Crested Butte and even shorter walk to the free shuttle to the mountain. This place has the most well-stocked kitchen of an vacation rental we've stayed at, it was great. And the host was great as well, very responsive and helpful.

TLDR: cramped, overpriced, not "luxury". Why put "luxury" in the title of a property? Luxury is the state of great comfort, elegance, and indulgence, characterized by things that are desirable and costly but not absolutely necessary. This vacation home has some nice attributes, but not much I would consider luxury, other than the price per night. The home is well-built and in a good location. That alone might bring a price premium. Ten or fifteen years ago, this place would be a gem. Today, it is beginning to show its age. The listing could benefit from a floorplan. The biggest thing you need to know is that the house is cramped. Every door opens into a space you need to be in. The front door opens into where you would be in to use the door. Have more than one person in your group? Get ready for single-file, staggered traffic. Want to get into the upstairs shower? Back up into the toilet & watch your head. My wife and aren't large humans and we could navigate these quirks. I'm sure other people would struggle.Want to sit down and have a back to your chair? Your only option is the couch & day bed. The kitchen island is the kitchen table and it has three stools. Sorry fourth person, you are standing.There are many notes taped to doors, drawers, walls, light switches with all the do's and don't. The coffee makers are knock-offs, no creamer provided. There are no tissues to blow your nose. The bed is painfully firm. Plus you pay a 1500 waiver! Luxury? I think not.

The Carriage House is a downtown cottage and is accurately represented in the listing photos and description. Over the years, we have welcomed hundreds of guests, including couples, families, groups of friends, and two couples sharing the home, and have consistently received outstanding 5 star reviews for the property's beautiful design, comfort, high quality amenities, cleanliness, amazing views, and excellent location. The home is equipped with premium furnishings, beds, and appliances. As for coffee, we know how important this is and we supply an authentic Nespresso machine, Williams Sonoma insulated French press, Italian moka, and drip coffee makers — four quality coffee options in total — along with all other high quality kitchen equipment. The premium mattress includes a 3 inch topper, West Elm linens and down duvets, and four pillow choices. Of course, comfort is ultimately a matter of personal preference. For clarification, the $1,500 amount referenced was not a fee charged by the owner. It is an optional damage protection program offered by the VRBO booking platform, and guests may choose alternative coverage options. While we respect that every guest has different preferences, this experience does not reflect the feedback we have consistently received from the hundreds of our guests over the years. We remain committed to providing a beautiful, high quality, well furnished, well equipped, clean, comfortable home with amazing views in the best location in Crested Butte.

Great house, great location!

We stayed there with our two teenage kids during a ski trip and had a blast. The location was perfect and the town bus stop was right there. Loved the cozy house (especially the radiant heated floor and the steam shower in the master was the best after a long day skiing. Would definitely stay here next visit!

Crested Butte Beauty

This property was a true gem. My husband and I and one of our adult daughters spent 5 days here and loved every minute. The house was the perfect size for us and very clean with great kitchen amenities. The location, 3 blocks from town and one block from the bus stop to the mountain, is ideal. There are also plenty of hiking trails just a short walk from the property. We would definitely stay here again!
