Absolutely fantastic house - and the hosts were very responsive and wonderful. I highly recommend a visit here !!! Super clean and comfortable. Great kitchen.
This is a lovely and inviting home in a beautiful neighborhood. Our group of 9 (6 adults and 3 kids, ages 7, 4, and 1) enjoyed cooking together, game nights and pool days. The park across the street was also a bonus. The host was very responsive when questions arose.
This house was perfect for our family while in town for a wedding. Everything was great, we really enjoyed the pool and the home was very comfortable. I wish we could have stayed longer.
This was our second stay at Jane's house (see our review from July 2023) and once again, we had a wonderful time! The house is so spacious and comfortable; perfect for our extended family of grandparents, parents, and 3 young children. It's close to all the San Diego attractions and good shopping, but mostly we loved just relaxing by the lovely pool. Thank you, Jane!
Loved our stay at Jane's place in Del Mar. The house was the perfect size, with bathrooms in each bed room and a great pool (with heating included). It's also in the perfect location - close to the beach but even closer to the new One Paseo mall and a shopping plaza with a market and tons of food options. Jane had super easy check-in/out instructions and great communication. We are already talking about when we can go back!

Hi, Natalie
Thank you for being an awesome group of guests! I look forward to your next visit.

From the first contact with the property manager, throughout our stay, the experience was first class and I would highly recommend this rental. Jane was responsive and helpful and the house expectations relative to the listing. It was large, clean, and fully stocked with everything you would need. The house was also located in a great, walkable neighborhood, close to great restaurants, shopping, the beach, downtown and the airport. It really felt like hime away from home.
This is the second time we stayed here. the reason is pretty obvious when you see the house and the location. There are toys down in the great room and up in the pool room. Outside is the pool and always the grand childrens favorite, the trampoline. Additionally around then corner is a large park. Jane is great to deal with. I highly recommend this for families with young children
The house was exactly as described, and some of the spaces were even larger than they appeared online. The primary bedroom suite was huge, with a soaking tub, shower, den, and sauna on the front porch. The other bedrooms were comfortable, and every bedroom had it's own attached full bath. The kitchen was well stocked. The trellis-covered back porch was very comfortable and a great place to supervise the kids in the wonderful pool and spa. The neighborhood was quiet and convenient to 56 and the 5 in Carmel Valley, located 20 minutes from Legoland, 10 minutes from UTC, and 15 minutes from La Jolla. Check out was a breeze.
We stayed here with our family from out of town, and we all had an amazing time. Nestled within the enchanting locale of Del Mar, our accommodations proved to be nothing short of extraordinary. Its proximity to prominent attractions such as Legoland, Sea World, the Zoo, and the pristine shores of Torrey Pines Beach made this house the perfect location to stay in. For those with EV vehicles, the convenience of a Tesla Supercharger, rarely full, was a huge plus as well. The house was clean and had lots of room for the kids to play around. There were toys already in the house that kept the kids entertained after a long day at the beach/theme park. The kids also had so much fun at the pool and slide in the backyard. They were so sad that we had to leave the house, but we will definitely be back!
Our family (6 adults, 3 kids) loved our stay at Jane's home so much that we have already booked again for next year! It's just perfect for families with children. My small grandchildren loved all the toys, the trampoline, and the pool/spa. I so appreciate that the pool has a safety fence. All was as described and pictured: the beds were comfy, the kitchen well-equipped, the location very convenient (to beaches, shopping, Legoland etc), lots of space for fun and relaxation. The outdoor space was terrific and we spent lots of time in the pool. There initially was a problem with a leaky pipe in the kitchen and as soon as we discovered it we were able to reach Jane right away and she had a plumber out to fix it asap, which was tricky on a holiday weekend! This was a wonderful vacation full of precious family time and memories!

There were spider webs across the entrance and there was a moldy smell before we opened up the house. There is a drop-down from the foyer into the living room that is not well lit nor marked. It has the same tile in both places and creates an obscure view. My wife fell there and suffered injuries to her shoulder, wrist, knee and ankle, THIS NEEDS TO HAVE MARKER TAPE ACROSS THIS BRIDGE FROM THE FOYER TO THE LIVING ROOM

Thank you for staying at our property. We appreciate your feedback and are very sorry you had a less than exceptional experience.
The house was vacant for several weeks prior to your stay with closed windows. The house has good air circulation with the windows open and there is usually a slight ocean breeze in the neighborhood. With a couple of the larger windows open, any stale air should be refreshed in less than 5 minutes. Nonetheless, if there is a vacancy period in the future, we can keep the HVAC fan running periodically to keep the air fresh.
There is a step from the foyer (with Spanish mission style red tiles) into the front/living room (with dark brown hardwood floor). On the pillar at the entryway, there is a sign to alert visitors to ‘watch their step’. Additionally, we have two nightlights in the vicinity of the step to illuminate it when dark. We will investigate additional lighting, caution marking, or other ways to increase the contrast between the top and bottom of the step.
Beautiful home, very lean and spacious, but still quiet overall. The home is very accommodating for the children, school age and toddlers, they enjoyed the pool, billiards, grass area, and mini trampoline. Every room had its own bathroom, that was a nice touch. The kitchen is very spacious with multiple appliances, just had to open all the cabinets to find things. Utilized the grill, but we couldn't find the tongs. Backyard also has a gas firepit feature which we enjoyed in the evening. The pool light at night is a little dim and there is standing warmer that we couldn't get to work. Access to get in and out of the house was very easy. The owner was available via text and responded very quickly. There is a little shopping plaza with grocery stores and restaurants 5-7 minutes away, 15 minutes from the beach. We were blessed with beautiful San Diego weather. Overall we enjoyed staying at Jane's home and wouldn't mind staying here again.

Thank you for the wonderful 5 star review! We are so happy your group had such a wonderful time and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future! Next time, please don't hesitate to reach out if something is off. The patio heater can be tricky to light - usually you need to press the ignitor button 8-10 times before the pilot lights (you can see the pilot light through the metal channels at the bottom of the heater element to ensure it's lit).

We planned family vacation nearly a year before, chose this house because it had a “heated pool and hot tub. When we got there for our eight day vacation on December 27 we found the pool and hot tub were 63 degrees and the heater was not working. We told Jane and she told us to try different things to make it work. She said that her pool guy couldn’t fix it he just cleaned it. Friday the 29th after us trying to get her to do something she said she had called a pool company and they didn’t get back to her. She said she would try again next Tuesday. We were leaving Thursday. The kids were so disappointed to not have a pool the whole time. She said she would give us a partial refund when we checked out. We paid nearly 9000 dollars for 8 days with a heated pool and she offered to refund us 250 dollars. She tried to say that it was fixed on the 2nd but we have messages from her that night telling us to try to get the heater fixed ourselves in the dark. We did get the hot tub fixed so it worked on the 3rd but we left the next day so we had it one day and the pool never heated up. She tried to say she had fixed so we had three days of pool and hot tub. What a lie. Also pictures show fireplaces but we don’t have any details about how they work and no way to use them. Also they state they have TVs with all the apps to watch but they don’t include any, you have to use your own or sign up new ones if you don’t have one already. Rediculus that a home is not included with cable or satell.

Our goal is to ensure each of our guests has an exceptional experience during their time at the property. We strive to achieve this by fulfilling reasonable “pre-arrival” requests and responding quickly to any “during-stay” needs. To that end, we are deeply sorry for this guest’s experience.
We receive a lot of bookings from families traveling with kids. As we are also a family with children, we understand the challenge of traveling with young children and want to help ease that burden whenever possible. At the property, we have a portable baby/toddler chair which can be attached to a dining table chair. Upon request of this guest, we also purchased a brand new standard size baby highchair free of charge.
We maintain a close relationship with our pool maintenance and repair company which allows us to receive priority response should any concern arise during the stay of our guests. This company has always provided excellent service and proved highly reliable. For this booking, we began heating the pool one day early to meet this guest’s arrival request. As the pool is approximately 15,000 gallons, it takes significant energy and sufficient time to bring the water temperature to the set point of 84F. To make this process efficient, we use a pool cover which helps reduce heat loss and evaporation. The cover is attached to a portable, wheeled roller which sits on the pool deck. The cover can be easily rolled up and positioned out of the way. As heating continued, we noticed the water temperature was still far from reaching 84F. Suspecting inadequate flow through the pool filter, we dispatched our pool service technician to perform a filter service at a premium of over $100 compared to their standard fee, given the holiday week. The filter service was completed on December 27. Heating resumed and we contacted this guest to provide an update, explaining it may take more time for the pool temperature to reach the set point.
Subsequently, this guest arrived that evening and asked about the typical time required for the spa to reach the maximum set point of 101F. Although the pool and spa use the same pump/heater system, the spa is separately controlled and heats up much faster than the pool. This guest further noted the spa failed to reach the set point. The heater is under warranty and we contacted the manufacture’s contractor the next morning. Owing to this contractor’s limited holiday availability, we decided to have our own pool technician perform any necessary repairs, along with any additional out-of-pocket expenses. After inspecting the heater on Saturday, a faulty stack flue sensor was identified. Unfortunately, the parts supplier is closed on the weekend and was also closed on Monday Jan 1 for the holiday. As such, the heater was returned to service around 8am on January 2. We have since purchased two additional stack flue sensors to have on-hand as backups.
There was an unfortunate confluence of factors that occurred here including bad luck (mechanical equipment is prone to unpredictable failure) and bad timing (the weeks of Christmas and New Year holidays are likely the most challenging time of the year). We did everything to rectify the matter as soon as possible. That said, we understand this guest’s disappointment and are very grateful they chose to enjoy the spa during their remaining three days at the property (Jan 2-4). A refund of $500 was provided to this guest.
There are three gas fireplaces in the house. Each is controlled with a standard gas fireplace key (looks like a screwdriver with a square hole in the end) which is labeled. These keys are either on the mantle or a nearby shelf to the fireplace. Each fireplace is straightforward to use by opening the flue, turning on the gas, and lighting with a match or lighter. Our guests are welcome to use the fireplaces as they desire and we're happy to assist in any way. Given the large space of the house, we find the central furnace systems (there are separate systems for downstairs and upstairs) do a much better job of heating the living areas.
The home had plenty of room for our family and was probably the cleanest we've ever stayed at, including everything we used in the kitchen, which was fantastic. Lots of little stashes of toys my kids loved to go through which was great for downtime when we were in the home. Thanks!
The property was clean, the kitchen was well-stocked and the house was very kid-friendly. The kids loved the pool, water slide and trampoline while the adults grilled outside. Communication with the property owner was clear and easy. Would definitely stay here again the next time we're in San Diego.
Perfect home for an extended family (or family/friends) getaway. My family stayed here while visiting me for an event. I live in this neighborhood.
This home is spotless, spacious, and has everything we needed. Large well-equipped kitchen. Spacious dining areas. Bedrooms have place to store luggage, comfortable beds, linens and towels. Bathrooms are functional with good water pressure and temperature control. Showers can be used at the same time without impacting the hot water.
Pool/ jacuzzi are perfect for families, enough room to swim, relax, good temperature, fenced. Back yard is relaxing. Small trampoline, grassy area for children to play. Back yard backs on to busy street, but this was not a concern as the yard is well fenced and the road noise is minimal.
Check-in and check-out was seamless. The host communicates well. Garden service and pool service were scheduled to visit once during our stay, but we had the option to cancel.
A few things to be aware of for your planning:
1. One bedroom, downstairs, has noise from air conditioner and is right next to the laundry room. Not a concern, but plan to have a heavy sleeper take that room.
2. wi-fi works, but is quite spotty.
3. If you’re expecting guests, parking on the street is limited.
These did not impact the quality of our stay, but good to know when planning your vacation.
This is such a beautiful property. Large roomy house, terrific yard and great pool and spa! We’ll stocked kitchen accessories and cooking areas. Lots of toys for the kids and even a pool table. Jane was an excellent host with great communication.
Communication with the property owner was always quick and helpful. Vrbo was was easy to use to find the perfect home. The only negative is all the additional charges.
