This jewel of an island is located a quick 20 minute ferry boat ride from Seattle but is a paradise getaway from the bustle of life. The house, comfortable but elegant, has a truly breathtaking panoramic view of the Puget Sound and a private deck where you can sit back and watch the sun rise or set.
A private hot tub is located in a garden with a view of the water. Follow the 50 stairs down to the beach where a gazebo is the perfect place for a picnic, a glass of wine or bird watching. Take the kayak out into the Sound as dusk settles on the water. A two acre garden is filled with trees and plants that thrill the most ardent gardeners.
Identified as one of the top summer vacation spots, Vashon Island has fishing, biking, kayaking, horse back riding and hiking for the athletes and art galleries, book stores, free concerts and a movie house. Hunt for shells on your beach walks or just sit back and enjoy the quiet, the solitude, the view of water and sunsets. This island is a hidden secret that will have you coming back year after year...

My parents loved to garden. We lived in Yakima, Washington but as my Dad neared retirement, he and mom wanted a place where they could garden year round and where plenty of rain made growing easier. They bought 2 and 1/2 acres in 1976, built a lovely small house that looks out over the water and created magnificent gardens. We live in Denver but came to Vashon every summer for family reunions and vacations. I see my parents' love for gardens from every room in the house. My brother said that the new kitchen (2010) brought my parent's gardens indoors.

Why Owner chose Vashon Island
My parents are gone now but they have created a place that is unique in its beauty. We love sharing this magical place with renters who like to watch the sun setting from the deck at night, explore the beach, have morning coffee in the hot tub, roam the gardens and pick vases of roses or curl up in the living room with a fire and a good book on a rainy day. A gourmet kitchen fully stocked with utensils, appliances, spices and everything any cook could need was added in 2010.
What makes this House unique
This is a very private home with a spectacular view of the Puget Sound. A perfect place for rest, retreat and restoration.

Perfect house, perfect views
The house was charming, the location perfect. I am still in envy of the gorgeous kitchen!
Great home! For a larger home, it’s very cozy. Well maintained and stocked with everything we could need. My husband and I were in the master. Very comfy bed. Loved the hot tub on the cold evenings. The house is laid out with spaces to converse or read, and a nearby space to watch TV. You always feel like you’re a part of the group but can also have some separate time. We did a lot of cooking in the well equipped kitchen. It was cold and rainy during our visit so we didn’t get to take advantage of the porches - next time. We loved it and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and rent this home again when we return to Vashon. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful and comfortable home.
Great place to relax with beautiful views.
We enjoyed spending time with our adult kids and their baby. He is a very energetic two and a half year old that wants to be outside and running constantly. The house was spacious enough for us all to have room to relax and do our own things. The view from the balcony is beautiful. Looks just like the photo. Other than wine, food and a nanny there wasn't anything we needed that wasn't supplied at the home. Our grandson did try to climb the railing on the balcony which had screening to keep young ones from trying to climb through the railings. Oh and he did manage to throw everything on the railing off the balcony, no harm no foul. Very quiet and relaxing place to unwind. We loved our time there. Thanks Madie.
Private, quiet, stellar home and views
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The kitchen is huge, every appliance that you could ever need is there. We used both the coffee pot and espresso maker and it even has a coffee grinder! The stove is an awesome 6 burner with great gas controls. The dining room has lots of light and windows on all the walls. The master bedroom on the first floor has a king bed with a great mattress, very, very comfortable. The master has sliders out to the patio with the hot tub. The hot tub has lots of jets, comfortable seating for 2 or more. The master bath has a gorgeous remodel with a great shower with beautiful marble tiles. Our only issue was with the height of the bathroom counter and mirror. We are really tall people. My guess is that the homeowners are slightly vertically challenged as the counter was really low and my husband could only see his torso in the mirror, not his shoulders or head. But we are used to that, with being tall, we don't fit most places. The tea house by the water was a great place to watch the sunset with a glass of wine and a light supper. I was amazingly relaxed and love this place. I am recommending it to all my friends and am looking at the calendar to book it again! Thank you to the hosts!
As Paula guessed, I am vertically challenged so my master bath counters and mirrors fit my short stature. So glad that you enjoyed our home and all it has to offer. We look forward to your return.
Wonderful 3-night stay
the home, the grounds, the beach, the views, the deck, the hot tub, and especially the gorgeous weather that we enjoyed throughout our stay - all made for a wonderful setting for our annual family get-together. Perfect!!! Thank you SO MUCH.
Vashon Island is a secret jewel - a rural island, home to an active artists' community, an outdoor lover's paradise (biking, kayaking, fishing, beach walking, horseback riding, hiking, birding) - close to Seattle and a 2 hour drive to Mt. Rainier (great hiking), Port Townsend (artist haven) or 4 hour drive to the Olympic National Park. You can take a foot ferry into downtown Seattle for a day at Pike Street Market, museums or Seattle's world class library. The beaches tend to be rocky but full of many wonderful surprises and the swimming is for those who are hardy, but the sun on the water is beautiful any time of day and the sunrises and sunsets are pure magic. Other Activities: 2 kayaks at the beach for paddling in the Puget Sound
