Why Floyd Fowler chose Shelby
This is a family home - and feels like it. You'll have all the comfort and relaxation you'll ever need. Easy walk to the beach - all white sand, no rocks. Perfect full view of Lake Michigan from the dining and living rooms, or the front porch swing.
What makes this Cottage unique
We regularly see eagles and blue herons, and there's nothing like the open, undeveloped nature conservancy adjacent to our property on the north. At night you'll see shooting stars.

"The Sandcastle" in Shelby
A beautiful and quiet location. 3 decks on Lake Michigan. Plenty of outdoor room for entertaining. There was plenty of room inside for the 7 people in our party. As a bonus to the beautiful Lake Michigan sunsets, there are nesting bald eagles in the area.
Homey, comfortable, clean, private, right on the water of Lake, MI
Enjoyed on-the-water location in this comfortable and clean family cottage. The open layout worked well for us. Kitchen had everything we needed and appreciated it’s well-organized and labeled supplies. Enjoyed the swing, fire pit, dining on upper and lower decks with anchored umbrellas in perfect spots. Convenient location to Silver Lake, golf courses, Montague, Country Dairy, Hart Brewery, and more. Location easy to get to but still off the beaten path. We six had ample room. We had a beach, albeit small, we believe thanks to huge log embedded in sand... other places not so fortunate due to unusually high water levels. Long walks on the beach were wonderful. Enjoyed the huge telescope at night and gorgeous sunsets. It was the perfect place for us to unplug, reasonable rental, excellent owner communication.
This property is exactly as advertised, and our group of 8 really enjoyed our time. from the two outside dining options to the three deck options for seating by the water, we were very comfortable. We have stayed in Driftwood or Cobmoosa for the past 15 years and this is the first time we had any type of “yard” where we could play games. Fun!
Also, the fact that wood was included, as well as all towels and linens was nice.
A real family feel for this cabin gives you the feeling you are visiting relatives as opposed to a generic rental. Kids (16,14.12.12) loved the dunes to the north and spent every night watching the sunset there before making their way home at twilight.
Relaxing Beach Vacation
This house was perfect for a quiet beach vacation. The several decks overlooking Lake Michigan were great for reading and watching the sunset. Plenty of seating in the living room and the dining room table was just big enough for our 6 adults and 1 infant. Overall the house would be cozy if there were more than 6 adults in my opinion. The owner was very friendly and available to answer any questions we had. Loved that there were kayaks we could use. Can't say enough good things about this property!
Secluded and peaceful
We stayed in June and experienced a wonderful relaxing vacation. We visited with our adult children and parents. Quiet, peaceful, beautiful. The house was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. We used the kayaks and the canoe, we walked the beach, we sat for hours outside on the deck overlooking the water. We saw the eagle every day and when hiking to find the lake behind the house, we found it's nest. The hammock was used daily and our kids hung their Moosejaw hammocks in the trees. They had the wood pile well stocked for nighttime campfires. We highly recommend jeep tour at Silver Lake (we used Parrot's Landing) and Pentwater is a quaint place to shop/eat. We loved the privacy and quietness. The owner was easy to contact and work with.
Great Lakefront Property
We recently stayed at this quaint cottage on beautiful Lake Michigan. We had a wonderful stay and the cottage is exactly as described. The cottage has great sleeping accommodations with a separate room with twin beds for younger children. It is stocked with everything you need for your stay. Gorgeous property with a full view of the lake. There are so many special things about this place- the sunsets, a large firepit, multiple decks, and lots of birdwatching! It is especially nice not to have other occupied cottages on both sides of the property so there is more privacy than many beachfront properties. We look forward to a return stay.
