About this property

Quiet gated community: Lots to see and do.

We fell in love with this mountain cottage the first time we saw it. There is a wrap around porch with rocking chairs, where you can rock and enjoy the wooded view. We would love to share it with you.

It is 10 acre within a quiet, safe, gated community. The Master Bedroom and Full Bath are on the first floor. There are two bedrooms and full bath are upstairs.

All rooms including the front porch have ceiling fans (except baths & kitchen). You may not need to use the ceiling fans as there is always a wonderful breeze blowing across the mountains. The home has central heat and air conditioning.

On the first floor is the Master Bedroom with a New Queen size bed, closet and dresser. The first bedroom upstairs has a King Size bed using a day/trundle bed with a Serta 4-inch memory foam mattress topper and contour pillows for extra comfort. There is also sofa that opens into a twin bed a foam mattress is supplied for it. This bedroom also has dresser and a TV with DVD/VCR player. The other upstairs Bedroom has two double beds and a bunk bed.
There is a new infant pack and play and a twin bed guard for toddlers. All beds have mattress and pillow covers, linens, blankets and quilts. This allows for spacious room, yet numerous sleeping arrangements.

The dining room table seats eight, and opens to seat 14. There are over 16 place settings of dishes and silverware. For children there are plastic dishes and bowls, as well as a highchair and booster seat.

In the living room there is a wood burning fireplace, comfortable furniture, TV, Radio, DVD/VCR & CD players. DVD/VCR library, games, puzzles, books, cards; something for everyone: Cable TV, Amazon Fire TV, and wifi, and land line phone. Verizon Cell can be used inside and outside the cottage.
Both the Dining Room and Living Room have skylights.
3 Large Pillows and matching Fleece 4x6 covers are handy to sit on the floor or wrap up to sit outside.

The kitchen is well equipped with a refrigerator (with ice maker), stove & pans, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven, blender, and bread maker. There is a garbage disposal but no dishwasher. You will find plenty of cooking utensils. Three feet of the kitchen counter has been lowered to accommodate the handicapped. The stove is a flat top, easy to use, with controls on the back, out of the reach of small children.

The laundry area has large washer and dryer. There is an ironing board and iron. The bathroom has plush, Biltmore towels, soap, shampoo, lotion, and hair dryer.

Most all doors on the first floor are wide and have lever handles. The furniture is arranged to accommodate a wheelchair bound person.

The house is 1500 square feet. The wide porch on three sides of the house is roomy and relaxing with plenty of seating. A swing and hammock are on the side porches for your relaxation, including a table with four chairs on the corner of the deck. There is a charcoal grill. Also Horseshoe and 'Throw Golf' games.

Everyone loves to sit around the open fire pit and cook hot dogs and S'mores, or rock on the porch at night and listen to the sounds of nature.

Girls Get away
This property was just what we were looking for. We are seven ladies who attend the same small group within our church and we came here for a retreat. The house has a warm, cozy feeling. The kitchen had all the things we needed to cook our own meals. The porch was our favorite. The beautiful rocking chairs were perfect for some quiet time on the porch.

Quiet Rest
Lovely property. Great host! Super quiet and relaxing! We loved the rockers on the front porch!!! My only complaint is there is not anywhere to take the trash on Sunday. The facility is closed. Lugging trash in a packed vehicle is super inconvenient, especially not being familiar with the area.

Family holiday vacation
We had a wonderful stay! We love the out of the way places for outdoor activities. We went hiking in nearby Pisgah Nat'l Forest as well as around the cabin. We had deer right outside the cabin roaming around. Nearby Brevard is a quaint little town with shopping and dining enjoyed by all. The cabin was just perfect for us. Thanks!

The house is a little difficult to find and driveway can be challenging but the challenge is worth the adventure. My grandchildren, ranging from 4 to 12, wasn't ready to leave. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway, this is the place.

Beautiful home in the middle of the woods.
This home is a perfect getaway if you are looking to stay in a quiet and secluded place. If you are looking for luxury, granite and the town within reach, this place is not for you. It was perfect for us for a relaxing and cozy vacation. The owner made excellent communication with clear directions and warning about the driveway. I would recommend this property for nature enthusiasts!

Lovely home, horrible driveway
The owner sent an email on Thursday, which I received on Friday, with explicit instructions and mentioned that the driveway was large gravel and it was best to not stop while driving in. Due to the incline, large gravel and heavy recent rains, I was not able to drive up to the house (I was using low gear but do not have a 4-wheel drive), had to park at bottom and carry everything up. I tried to reach her by email Saturday evening and Sunday (twice) and tried to call Sunday afternoon but no answer. I did explain everything and gave my number so she could call me - no response to email. I was wary of trying to get back to the house on Sunday evening, especially since it had rained heavily Saturday night and more was predicted, so we packed up and left Sunday morning and went to a motel. It was also putting unneeded strain on my vehicle, a V-6 van, and I did not want to chance a problem with the engine, etc., as a result. If I had more warning of the driveway conditions (and I noticed in the guest book I was not the only person to have issues with the driveway), I would have reserved a different home. We were unable to explore due to the rain but what we did like the property and the house is absolutely lovely. The girls and I were excited about the house and the property and were a bit disappointed with our experience.

Wonderful, relaxing experience and the local waterfalls were beautiful.
We had a great Thanksgiving at the cottage! The kitchen was well equipped to handle this special occasion as well as a large selection of unique serving dishes in the china cabinet. The local waterfalls were awesome, especially the one right down the road in the property owner's back yard. The suspended bridge was a thrill to walk across and the pavilion at the end of the bridge was a great spot to listen to the roar of the waterfalls and rushing creek. We saw a young doe in a pasture on one of the back roads that appeared so tame that we thought it would actually come up to our vehicle. We enjoyed the scenery on the porch and relaxed in front of the fireplace. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and Mary thought of everything needed for guests of all ages.

Why they chose this property

We loved the wrap around porch with rocking chairs across the front. It is quiet, safe and in the center of 10 acres. I love to wrap up in a blanket early in the morning and listen and watch the world come to life.

What makes this property unique

There are 5 State &/or National parks in Transylvania County with over 250 waterfalls. Fishing is just 5 miles from the home. Wonderful Smokey Mountains. 45 miles from Asheville, NC.
