History & Story of “Point of View”
Back in 1980, parents (Charlotte and Al) of one of the owners decided, with 3 of their 6 children out of college, they just might be able to afford a little get-away in the mountains. Charlotte and Al drove from their home in Florida and stayed at a friend’s “Little Red Cabin”. They looked at property and decided Line Runner Ridge was perfect. The next year, they contacted a builder, who drew the plan on a napkin and built the shell of the cabin.
The folks were DIY-ers, and every vacation was spent working on their Mountain House. They finished the inside (upstairs) themselves. They made the doors, curtains, kitchen cabinet, painted. It was a labor of love and a break from the Florida heat.
As it happened, Ruth and Glen bought property on the very top of the ridge the same day Charlotte and Al bought theirs. Both couples built houses in 1981, and so began a beautiful friendship.Whenever the folks came up, Glen would come knocking on the door to get Al. They would start at 7 in the morning and quit about 5 in the evening, working, working, working.
In the early 2000s, current owners (Nancy and Betty) came for a visit. They LOVED the mountain house, the views, the area, everything! They immediately started looking for property. Luckily, they were able to acquire property in the area and built their cabin. Now 3 of Charlotte and Al’s children have property on this ridge… and … 2 of Ruth and Glen’s children have property on this ridge. Second generation special friendships continue today.
As for “Point of View”, Charlotte and Al built the garage in 2011 and finished the basement in 2014. Charlotte stayed in the cabin until she moved to Brevard.
Nancy couldn’t bear for the cabin to be sold, so the decision was made to share “Point of View”. We hope you can feel our love for “Point of View”, and enjoy your time on our Beautiful Ridge.
