Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)
Welcome to our Log Cabin that we completed in 2006 that is set among the Aspens and back off the main gravel road but with county maintained roads for easy access in and out. The total square footage is 1600 with 3 bedrooms, including a Master bedroom w/ King sized log bed and Master bath, second bedroom contains a Queen sized bed and the 3rd bedroom has 2 sets of bunk beds that will sleep 4 with both of these bedrooms sharing the second bath.
If you enjoy ATV'ing or Snow mobiling you can do that right from our drive way as access to Arapahoe National Park is less that 5 minutes away where there are 100's of miles of trails and some groomed in the winter for Snowmobiling. Hiking or wildlife viewing in Rocky Mountain National Park is 20 minutes away in the fall with the Elk bugling is breath taking to witness and the ocassional moose crossing the road in front of you or eating next to the road.
Skiing or snowboarding is only 20 minutes away to the smaller ski area of Ski Granby or 45 minutes away to the ski drop off for Winter Park. The town of Winter Park for shopping or dining is only 35 minutes but for sking please plan on a 45 minute trip.
Fly fishing on Colorado Gold Metal Waters is less the 30 minutes away on the Colorado River along highway 40 between Granby and Kremmling. The fly fishing is also excellent on the Colorado River between Shadow Mountain and Lake Granby or in Rocky Mountain National Park for Brookies and Rainbows with Browns farther down the river.
Boating is only 10 minutes away on Lake Granby for Rainbows or Lake trout with shore fishing pretty good as well. You can rent boats at numerous marinas on Lake Granby or on Grand Lake along with Canoes or Kayaks which is great fun in the summer on Grand Lake.
You can either bring your own groceries or enjoy fine dining in either Grand Lake, Winter Park or Granby, with Devils Thumb Resort having 2 excellent restaurants as well. There is a grocery store located in Granby on your way to the cabin or also in Grand Lake so if you get there and decide you don't want to drive into town to eat you can cook your own plate with all the ammenities available.
If you enjoy cross country sking or snow shoeing you can do that in 5 minutes away at the entrance of Arapahoe National Park, go into Rocky Mountain Nationa Park or drive 20 minutes to Snow Mountain Ranch for groomed trails which is also called YMCA of the Rockies.
Our cabin is located around 5 miles off of Highway 34 leaving Granby heading towards the town of Grand Lake which is 20 minutes away and a beautiful town for shopping and dining. You will need an all wheel drive vehicle in the winter as the road is slightly sloped but drive way is plowed and all the firewood you need already cut and stacked for your use.
The full kitchen has granite tile counter tops with a great room feel as all 3 rooms (Dining, Living and Kitchen) are open and spacious. There is 40' LCD TV and satellite TV in the living room with no premium channels but there is a DVD player and a separate TV in the master bedroom with no cable but a DVD player for watching movies(There are around 40 DVD's). Start a fire in the wood burning stove and relax on our leather furniture which gives you a relaxed feeling making it very warm. There are also chairs on the deck for enjoying the peace and quiet with various wildlife in the area at any time including a local moose that hangs out that we see quite often. There is nothing better than enjoying a cocktail in late afternoon or early evening on the deck with the quiet surroundings of the woods.

About Jim and Lori Leidholm
We finished building our cabin in 2006 with 90% of the work completed by us. It took us 4 years to complete the cabin and we enjoy our cabin year round but rent the cabin out when we are not able to enjoy it ourselves.
Jim and Lori Leidholm purchased this Cabin in 2006
Why Jim and Lori Leidholm chose Granby
The main reason for building on this site is there is access to any thing you want to do with in 30 minutes of our log home. Fly fishing -20 to 30 minutes to the Colorado River, sking - 20 minutes to Ski Granby and 45 minutes to Winter Park, Snowmobiling and ATVing right from our property to Arapahoe National Park for 100's of miles of trails. Dining and shopping - 20 minutes to Grand Lake, 20 minutes to Granby and 35 minutes to Winter Park. Boating, kayaking or canoeing - 10 minutes to Lake Granby and 20 minutes to either Shadow Mountain or Grand Lake.
What makes this Cabin unique
Quite relaxed area set in the Aspens where you can enjoy a nice Margarita on the deck. Start a fire with friends and not have to worry about anything until you leave and hit reality again.

We had a group of 8 people stay here and there was more than enough room for everyone. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook all of our meals for 4 days. We also enjoyed the fire pit outside. Highly recommended!
Beautiful well appointed cabin!
If you are looking to get away from the city this is your cabin. We stayed here before labor day weekend and it was wonderful. Lori and Jim are pleasure to work with. We wanted for nothing and cooked many meals in the spacious kitchen. There is no cell phone coverage as of the time we were there so factor that into your trip. We drove down to the main hwy so we could contact our wedding party. The humming birds will keep you mesmerized over your stay. Thanks Lori and Jim for sharing your home with us!
We arrived Dec 27th and stayed till Dec 31st. This was an awesome cabin! Our teens loved seeing the elk everyday as we drove in and out. Grand Lake was about 25 min away and it was such a cool little town. It was our favorite place.
We cooked in the cabin and we found everything we needed to cook with and it was great having a washer and dryer.
We will definately go back here!!
We visited this cabin in September with another family and had a wonderful time. The cabin was just as pictured and accommodated 4 adults and 5 kids great. We loved how it was tucked away but not to far from the national park. Would highly recommend this place for anyone wanting a great relaxing place to stay and enjoy the beautiful Colorado weather.
We go to Grand Lake 2-3x a year and were looking for seclusion this time around. We found it! The cabin is nestled back in an Aspen grove (forest?) a few miles off the main highway and it took us 2 days to even realize there was another cabin anywhere near us. We agree with previous reviews (e.g., the house is well-appointed and plenty comfortable, communicating with Lori was easy, etc.) so the things I would like to add are: 1) the fire pit was ready to go with actual seating and plenty of firewood. As an added bonus, the hose is long enough to reach the fire pit so no hauling buckets of water from the house!!! 2) the night skies were spectacular!!! No city lights to obstruct the view.. 3) the family room is actually much larger than the picture in the listing would suggest. 4) the propane for the grill was out upon our arrival but there was a second tank right there ready to go (hasn't been the case at other places we have stayed) so that was obviously much appreciated as well.
Overall we had a spectacular time staying at this cabin and would recommend it to anyone looking to "unplug" and get away from it all (keep in mind, there is satellite tv..) I don't know that you will find a better cabin for the money in the Grand Lake area.
Exactly what we were looking for!
We had six of us stay in this cabin during the July 4 holiday week. We had such a fantastic time in the cabin and in the surrounding towns. The cabin is so cozy and beautiful and I was thankful we allowed one day with nothing planned because my husband and I just sat on the front porch for two hours talking and enjoying the excellent temperatures and view. I did fill the hummingbird feeder two of the five days we were here. I could have just sat and watched the dozens of hummingbirds all day long. The only wildlife we saw from the cabin was a couple of foxes, but it was still perfect. My 20 + year old sons and their fiance's and my teenage daughter played many games of cornhole every night while I cooked supper. I have stayed in many cabins but this was the first time I did not have to pack extra utensils and pots and pans before we left. When it says the kitchen is fully equipped, that is exactly what it means. I lacked for nothing while I was cooking and I cooked four course meals each night.(I also now have my eye on a Weber gas grill. Very nice!) Our stay was just exceptional. My husband and I thought the king bed was the most comfortable bed of anywhere we have ever stayed. Don't forget to turn the hot water heater off vacation mode or you will have a cold shower the first night you are there. Don't ask me how I know. :) At first we were surprised there was no AC, but once we opened the windows (LOVE the window blinds. I want some!) and turned on the ceiling fan, we realized it wasn't needed. That is unheard of here in Kansas! We went white water rafting in Frisco (1 1/2 hour drive but well worth it!) on the Blue River with a company called Performance Tours. They were excellent and I highly recommend them, as well. We rented jeeps in Estes Park for a day and actually enjoyed the drive through the Rocky Mountain National Forest more than the jeep trail riding on Storm Mountain. We rented a pontoon boat on Lake Granby from Beacon Landing Marina and they were excellent, also. We all had a fabulous time and we are planning on returning soon and trying out the winter weather in Colorado. I will close with saying Lori was excellent to work with and was very quick to respond to my emails and phone calls. We could not have had a better experience.
Cabin is located approximately 1/2 mile from National Forest with access to National Forest and 20 minutes to the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. The cabin is also 20 minutes from docking your boat on Lake Granby, Shadow Mountain Lake and 20 minutes also to Grand Lake. You can ATV, Snowmobile, MotoCross, Hike or Cross Country Ski from front yard. Fly fishing in the great Colorado River is only 20 minutes away in Rocky Mountain National Park where the river starts, a larger portion of the stream between Shadow Mountain Lake and Lake Granby is 20 minutes or it gets even larger approximately 30 minutes away along Highway 40 towards Kremmling. Not mentioned is numerous streams for fly fishing brook trout but the main fly fishing is Browns and Rainbows in the Colorado River. There is great golf to 3 excellent courses with in 20 minutes also that anybody who golf's would enjoy.
