Overview

About the property

Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

You’ll be staying in South Main River Park, a New Urbanist community being built on the Arkansas River in the town of Buena Vista. If your priorities are 1) convenient access to the area’s many recreational activities, 2) a beautiful location at 3) an affordable price, our condo may be just what you're looking for.

You can launch a kayak, hop on a mountain bike or wear out your hiking shoes by just stepping out the front door. No building is closer to the South Main whitewater launch area, kayak play hole and Whitewater and Arkansas River Trails. These trails are tied to the Barbara Whipple Trail, Midland Bike Trail and Four Mile Travel Management Area. 175,000 acres of wilderness and BLM lands are your backyard. A skateboarding park and several playgrounds are just a few blocks away.

Shopping, restaurants, equipment rentals, theatre, Community Center, museum, town library and other amenities are within easy walking distance. The new Eddyline Brewery and Restaurant is at the other end of our block. After a hard day of recreating you can either sit down for beer and fire baked pizza or you can sit in your own courtyard and watch the sunset over Mt. Princeton and the Continental Divide. At any time you can step over to the park's 'Living Room Without Walls' to watch the kayakers and rafters running the rapids or bikers, hikers and rock climbers ascending 9600 foot Midland Hill on the other side of the river. Play a game of horseshoes, checkers or chess. If you're hungry fire up one of the grills. At night you can even build a camp fire in the fire ring and listen to the river below. Call it “convenient condo camping”.

South Main architectural standards are creating an authentic traditional neighborhood. High quality public space is designed for walking and creating community. You will be living on the first floor of a 3-story classical style stone and stucco building. The condo’s spacious living area and separate bedroom will sleep four easily. An open kitchen and dining area bring the total floor space to about 850 sq.ft. Entry is through a courtyard and large porch on the west side of the building. There is a good view toward 14,000+ foot Mt. Princeton and the Continental Divide, but none toward the River. The courtyard provides a private place for dining and socializing away from Main Street and the public square. The covered porch offers shelter and shade. Priced at less than the best hotel in town, we want to build a loyal core of vacationing guests who share our joy of living here. Our condo is clean, homey and affordable, but not luxury living. It’s where we plan to live when we can’t climb to the third floor anymore.

Buena Vista Condo

The condo was very clean, and had everything we needed for a three-day stay. We enjoyed the big screen TV, location, extra soft sheets, and responsive owners. Would stay there again, if we take another vacay in BV.

Wonderful Condo, Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

The unit we stayed in was clean and spacious and was the perfect size for our group. Plus, the location right off of South Main was perfect for walking downtown, quick access to the beautiful Arkansas River trails, and had great food, coffee and shopping right around the corner. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Great location & very family friendly

We loved every minute of our stay over Thanksgiving weekend. It’s very close to several great parks, restaurants & walking trails. We very much enjoyed the sunrises & sunsets from the front porch .

Wonderful condo!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I truly enjoyed staying here for our 5 year wedding anniversary. To have a warm, cozy, and calm place to stay was exactly what we needed. Stephanie was incredibly accommodating as our trip started off a little rough when we hit a deer about a mile from town. We knew that finding a shop to look at our car on a weekend would be tough and we didn't even really know where to start. Stephanie was so quick to help us out by giving us contact information to people she knew in BV that could possibly help us on a weekend. She was also so patient with us as we weren't sure if we were able to stay the entire weekend. Thankfully, everything ended up working out and we only had body damage so we were able to stay and enjoy our first weekend away together since having our son. Stephanie's generosity and willingness to help us out speaks volumes about the type of person she is and we experienced that with everyone we met in BV. Stephanie's condo was perfect for us. It had everything we needed and was located in a great area. We really enjoyed our time and we will be coming back to stay here in the future. Thank you again for everything, we are truly fortunate that everything worked out and we had the great fortune of renting from Stephanie.

Okay stay

  • 2 of 5

Great location, clean, but very uncomfortable/hard bed, Extremely Noisy neighbors above you (heavy foot/stomping sounds all over & loud washer/dryer that shook the walls!), & very plain decor/no character for a new place in South Main. A few photos/paintings on the walls would go a Long way to make the place feel homey/cozy with some Character just like the South Main area has!

Owner's Response: Janette, thank you for your review. I am very sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay. My phone number is provided in numerous places if there are ever any issues, that way I have the opportunity to fix the problem. The neighbor knows to ask the guest permission to run the washer/dryer upstairs as we are aware of the noise. I will be sure to communicate with the neighbor upstairs when guests are staying in the condo. Regarding the bed, as you know, it is impossible to provide a bed that everyone likes. The majority of my guests have complimented on how comfortable the bed is, and only a few have said they prefer something different - to each their own. I will continue working on updating the decor. Thank you for the suggestions! Best, Stephanie

Why Stephanie Rauch chose Buena Vista

This 1 bedroom, 1 bath first floor condo offers an unparalleled South Main experience. You are in heart of the subdivision within steps to all of Buena Vista's outdoor activities. The master bedroom features a spacious walk-in closet and private access to the full bath. Big screen tv for those evenings after an adventurous day to wind down and prep yourself for the next day's expeditions. With a fully stocked kitchen, you can enjoy prepping your own meals and enjoy a shaded dining experience on the covered porch. Plenty of storage on this covered porch for your kayaks, bikes, rafts or whatever gear you may be bringing. This is the ideal place to stay for the adventurer.

What makes this condo unique

South Main River Park is a New Urbanist development with access to the Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area and Pike-San Isabel National Forest. Our back yard is 175,000 acres of wilderness and BLM recreation area. We can step out our front door for mountain biking, hiking, fishing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, cross county skiing, wilderness camping, snow shoeing, four-wheeling, panning for gold and exploring historic ghost towns. If I have to work, I prefer to do it in the environment of 14,000 foot mountains. There's never a bad day when you're surrounded by the towering peaks of the Sawatch, Sangre de Christo and Mosquito Ranges of the Rocky Mountains. Those same towering mountains on three sides create a protective wall for what the state climatologist calls 'The Banana Belt of the Rocky Mountains'. Winters on the valley floor are relatively warm and mild compared to the mountains around us. We actually enjoy a high desert climate with an average of 10 inches of rainfall.
