Originalmente construido y diseñado para nuestra propia familia, esta casa única y hermosa en la charca de Pierce es verdaderamente un hogar "sueño". Está situado en el borde de uno de los estanques más tranquilos de Downeast Maine. Compartido con somormujos, garzas, águilas calvas y saltar bajo de la boca ancha, Pierce Pond es uno de los pocos cuerpos de agua dulce que no se alinea con los campos y las casas! Y es también cerca de la magnífica costa. En 10 minutos usted puede estar en el centro de Blue Hill o Castine y una milla y media a pie te lleva a la Bahía del Norte en la costa de Penobscot.

Primer nivel:
Al entrar, se le capturar inmediatamente las vistas increíbles. La planta abierta tiene una gran cocina a medida con encimera de baldosas de granito, electrodomésticos de acero inoxidable y barra de desayuno / isla. Una chimenea de piedra adorna la sala de estar y dos deslizadores grandes abrir la sala de estar y comedor a la cubierta porche. A la derecha de la entrada son armarios, una gran sala de barro de azulejos para lavadora y secadora, un baño completo y acceso a un garaje para dos vehículos de gran tamaño. El primer piso tiene calor radiante.
Segundo nivel:
Un elegante estuche de arce de la escalera abierta que conduce al segundo piso donde hay 4 dormitorios y 2 baños completos. El dormitorio principal tiene su propio baño principal con 2 lavabos de pie, techos altos, con pino, armarios enormes y controles deslizantes que se abren a un balcón con una de las mejores vistas de la casa. Más de tres dormitorios, todas con pisos de arce y otro baño completo se disponen para maximizar la vista.
Nivel inferior:
El sótano de salida tiene un acabado de pisos de arce y un hermoso hogar sin labrar con estufa de leña. Se configura como una sala con ventanas preciosas y puertas francesas que conducen a la laguna para nadar, kayak y remo de embarque.

Our third year at this lovely spot. We enjoy the beautiful lake, the local hikes, and the proximity to Acadia. This year we were lucky enough to arrive at blueberry harvest time. The house is spacious and comfortable with adequate seating and spaces for reading, puzzle-making, and relaxing. The lake is stunningly beautiful and serene. Our host was available when needed but not intrusive. Altogether a wonderful vacation.

Beautiful and tranquil location

The house is situated on a spring fed pond that is simply beautiful. We swam, kayaked, paddle boarded, and sat on the dock to enjoy the sunset. Excursions to Blue Hill and grocery stores were easy. We hiked various trails and went to Acadia and Stonington for a boat ride around the granite islands where we saw seals. Great place for adults and kids.

Fabulous stay!!

We so enjoyed our time at this house. There was something for everyone. My kids loved the basement with the piano, TV and foosball table. My parents loved the peaceful porches and balcony off the master bedroom. I loved the waterfront. Next time we’ll rent some kayaks. One of our favorite rentals of all time. Everyone was happy and relaxed.

We had an amazing stay at this relaxing property right on the pond.

The house was set up perfectly for our group of a grandmother, a 7, 14 and 18 year old including us. It is a great location with both being remote and extremely quiet but also close to areas like Blue Hill and about an hour from Bar Harbor and Acadia. The communication with the owner was easy and she responded right away to any questions/needs. She was very accommodating. Would highly recommend this VRBO house.

Home on beautify pristine pond

Joanne’s lovely home on a fresh water pond was perfect for our multigenerational family. Swimming, kayaking, hiking, paddle boarding, and exploring the Penobscot area we’re enjoyed by all. It’s a quiet and beautiful spot which we’ve enjoyed for a sec of summer. Joanne is very helpful and lovely. We’ll be back!

Communing with Nature

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Pierces Pond. The house was perfect and very clean. The beds were comfortable, a very nice kitchen for cooking and plenty of books for reading throughout the house. It had everything we needed. Joanne was very helpful about restaurants and things to do. The house was very secluded on the pond. There were times when it felt we were the only ones on the pond, except for the loons. It was perfect for kayaking, swimming and sunset watching. The whole experience was outstanding.

A Place for Quiet, Contemplation and Seclusion

We've had summer gatherings of three generations of family, mostly in Maine, for 14 years. Dragonfly Cove was one of the best of our week-long excursions. With one exception, we've always stayed at a rental with access to a lake or pond for swimming and kayaking. All enjoyed the water, and we loved the privacy. At the same time we had daily outings in different directions throughout the Blue Hill area and into Acadia, always gratefully returning to the seclusion and warmth of Dragonfly Cove.

Perfect week in wild Maine

Two families of four had a terrific week in Maine. The pond is incredible. Very serene only people on the ponds swimming off the dock and at the raft. 10 out of 10. The only thing is it's quite a hike to all the attractions in downeast, Maine. But if you're willing to be in the car for about an hour each way, this is a perfect place to jump off to explore Maine.

Excellent, peaceful

We had a wonderfully relaxing time, despite the rain. We swam when the weather was warm...clean, quiet pond. Joanne was an incredibly gracious host. A wonderful place to gather with family and nice spots to visit nearby. If you are sensitive to the light in the morning, we recommend a sleep mask for the Master BRm stay as no shades. Beautiful view to wake up to but the sun rises early in the summer, even thought it is west facing. Highly recommend! A special spot.

Another wonderful stay

This is our second year at this camp and we had another great visit. The home is lovely with plenty of comfortable seating and room for our 6-person group around the dining table. Sleeping areas are comfortable and the master bedroom has a very cozy king-size bed and beautiful view of the lake. It even has its own little balcony! The kitchen is well-laid out and accommodates two cooks without any problem. Be aware that it takes about a half hour to get to a supermarket so plan accordingly! This is a no-shoes-in-the-house property so bring your slippers. The lake is beautiful and very quiet, perfect for kayaking/canoeing, swimming, and fishing. It also is very close to some fabulous hikes. We love it here!

Peaceful paradise

The house was exactly what we needed for our family vacation. The property was spacious and had all the amenities we could need. The pond was incredible- so peaceful and relaxing. We rented kayaks from the Activity Shop in town which was perfect. Joanne was a very gracious and attentive host who was always available via text for questions. The only drawback was that the trail to the pond is full of large tree roots and rocks which made it difficult to walk down there especially for some of the older people in our group. The dock was a little unstable as well but not too bad. All in all we loved our stay and would highly recommend it for a family getaway!

Peaceful and Refreshing

The Dragonfly House was a dream come true for our family. We came in and felt right at home and were surrounded by Nature which enveloped us on all sides. The fall colors were starting to come thru and provided the most beautiful glassy reflections on the pond. We were able to fish from the Dock and caught and released Bass and Pike. We saw Flickers, Kingfishers and Geese which strolled thru the yard along with the Deer traveling thru the property. We got Kayaks delivered by Skyline Kayak Rentals and circumnavigated Pierces Pond which was truly an adventure worth experiencing. The house was clean and warm as the temperature began to drop. Above all Joanne was extremely helpful in communicating with us and making us feel at home. Definitely a place to come and relax and see the beauty of Down East Maine

Amazing Home

We had an incredible experience staying at this lovely property! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that a lot of thought and care went into making this a perfect getaway. The home was immaculate and beautifully decorated, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The attention to detail was remarkable. The kitchen was well-stocked with all the essentials and more, which made cooking meals a pleasure, even though we ate out most of the time. The living spaces were comfortable and cozy, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The house was nestled in a quiet area that provided a peaceful retreat. The outdoor space was a highlight, a wonderful dock on a small pond. Communication with the host was smooth and pleasant. They were attentive and provided excellent recommendations for local dining and activities. It was evident that they genuinely cared about ensuring we had a great stay. Overall, this property exceeded our expectations in every way. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable and comfortable vacation. We can’t wait to return! Peaceful Country Home

Our family of 8 enjoyed our stay on Pierce Pond. The pond is so clean and was great for fishing and kayaking. It is truly peaceful at the property…we never even heard any of the neighbors. However, we were delighted to hear the loons in the evening. Joanne is a wonderful host. She helped answer all my questions about grocery shopping and renting kayaks. She even borrowed some fishing poles from the neighbor and delivered them for my husband. She lives at a different property at the pond, but we were not bothered by her at all. The house had plenty of room for our family to spread out. The kitchen was well equipped for all our needs. There were plenty of towels for our large group and blankets for the cool nights. As others have said, take a sleep mask because the sun rises early and there are no curtains or blinds on the windows. Also, if you like a fluffy pillow, take your own as most of the bed pillows are fairly thin and flat. The only real negative I have about our stay was the spider webs. I realize that the house is in a wooded area, so it will naturally have more spiders. However, I was surprised to see so many webs in the corners of the rooms. If you’re heading to the Maine coast and looking for a great place to unwind and relax, I would recommend you consider a stay at the pond.

The Perfect Vacation Spot

My husband, daughter and family, and I had an absolutely fabulous time at Joanne's Penobscot home on Pierce Pond. The house worked perfectly for the four adults and three children. There were books, games, and a ping pong table for all to enjoy. The house had grassy areas for the kids to build a shelter and play games. The lake is absolutely gorgeous. Spring fed, the water is soft so we swam every day, kayaked, and paddle boarded. A small little beach area was perfect for the 2 1/2 year old. Joanne and her husband made a magical trail near the house which enchanted the kids and adults! A platform provided opportunities to make up and perform elaborate plays. The area around the house is beautiful and we took excursions to Blue Hill, Deer Isle, and Castine. The area is rich with hiking, swimming, and browsing spots. Great food is available and farmer's markets. It was a perfect vacation thanks to Joanne. We'll definitely come again!

Perfect tranquility

Dragonfly Cove was everything we needed! We were in town for a wedding week in Castine, and this lovely home on Pierce's Pond was the perfect place to retreat from all the activity. The house is very well appointed with everything you could possibly need for cooking! Joanne gave us great suggestions for Farmers' Markets in Brooksville and Deer Isle. She was very attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. We rented a paddle board & kayak from The Activity Shop and they were delivered right to the house. Pierce's Pond a a good sized and beautiful pond with bald eagles soaring overhead. Perfect temperature for swimming! Would definitely return. Thank you Joanne!

Quiet Stay

We enjoyed our recent stay near Penobscot. The home is located in a quiet area near a beautiful pond on some acreage. Although somewhat remote, we found the house to be a good launch point to explore the Maine coast. We made day trips to Bar Harbor and Camden. Both were a bit of a drive, but doable. The house has numerous sitting areas which allow for congregating or spreading out. Original art hangs throughout the house. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. We had good communication with the owner who lives not far away in case any problems should arise at the house. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax, this is a good choice.

Dragonfly Cove is a wonderful place of tranquility. It's a drive to Arcadia but the peninsula was so peaceful. I kayaked on the pond and absorbed it's beauty. We wished we had had more time just to relax at the house. The house was well appointed and Joanne offered suggestions for exploration. My group of 4 friends enjoyed our stay.

A little off the beaten path, (which we like), arrived later than we had hoped. House was very spacious for 8 people, wish we could’ve stayed longer but our journey had a tight schedule.

SO Peaceful on the lake

My family of 5 really enjoyed our stay here. The lake is absolutely incredible. It is so very peaceful. So, so, so quiet, as there are only 4 houses on Pierces Pond and we only ever saw people at one of them. We spend so much time down on the dock enjoying the beautiful view, swimming, paddle-boarding, canoeing, fishing and just lounging. The house itself was really nicely set up for spending time together as a family with an open kitchen, living and dining room. Our kids enjoyed the ping pong table in the garage as well. We used the grill several times which was nice, but never got around to using the firepit area. We went to Bar Harbor one day to visit Acadia and the town of Bar Harbor and we couldn't get over the crowds. It was about an hour drive from the house and we were thankful to go home to quiet Penobscot. There is not much in the town aside from a General Store, but there are several very charming little towns within 10-20 minutes including Blue Hill, Castine and Surrey. There are some nice little hikes you can do right from the house as well as a hike up Blue Hill Mt which was only about 20 minutes away. Highlights were lobster rolls at Perry's in Surrey, great ice cream at PugNuts, wandering around Nervous Nellies, views in Stonington and Castine, sitting outside at Strong Brewery in Sedgwick (food trucks and live music on Saturdays) Highly recommend using the Activity Shop for boat rentals. We rented a canoe but brought 2 paddle boards of our own that we used every single day. It's the perfect setting for SUPs You'll need to drive a bit to get to restaurants, etc, but the solitude and peacefulness of this home definitely make it worth it.

Our group of 8- 4 couples- had a fantastic time at this peaceful home. Swimming in the pond, making s’mores in the fire pit, and playing provided board games were certainly highlights! Clean home with great gathering space.

My husband and I and our two children moved here in 2003. We are often pinching ourselves when we sit down and gaze over peaceful Pierces Pond. The tranquility here is difficult to describe. We chose this spot so that we could spend our summers swimming in the clean, fresh pond and still be close to the coast. Every summer we love to celebrate the return of the loons. They stay on the pond from early April to mid October. Bon fires and long days of swimming, sailing, kayaking and hiking are our favorite times here.
