Property has been in my family since 1975 and I have intentions of living here permanently again in the future. In the meantime, we love sharing it with people who want to experience the beauty of a pristine coast, unplugged from the noise, technology, and responsibilities of daily life.
Dee purchased this studio in 1975
We love owning and protecting, and keeping in the family, a bit the the rapidly disappearing Maine coast line. It's a refuge, a serene delight, a piece of sanity amidst the fast track. We welcome the opportunity of sharing it with like-minded nature lovers.
Secluded, private with immediate deep water access, views across the bay to Acadia National Park.Perfect for sailing. You can anchor right out front. Ocean kayaks can be rented and dropped off right at your door.

Our stay was perfect, close for touring Acadia, Bar Harbor, Blue Hill and all the nearby towns and amazing art galleries! Some great restaurants to visit … Blaze in Bar Harbor, recommend the Fish Taco’s. Best dinner we had was at the studio, grill worked great ocean in the background, little table for two!
Loved being unplugged, listening to music, and a fire at sunrise on the shore watching the views of Acadia Park evolve with the sound of the loons in the background!
The cottage was well equipped with all needed, clean and cozy. Lovely windows to watch the stars or the sunrise the morning. Perfectly suitable for a couple looking to unwind, read a book or two, enjoy nature at its best.
Touring Acadia was a highlight of our trip. I recommend the Island Explorer bus, free, stops at all the highlights every half hour. Get off take a hike, catch another bus, go have lunch in Southeast Harbor, visit Otter Point hike back to Sand Beach; easy hike! Tour Schoodic Point. So much to see and do, enjoy a lobster on the way! Don’t forget to visit Nervous Nellie’s Art Gallery very different!
Dee and John thank you for sharing your little piece of peace! We loved it!
We so enjoyed our stay at the Oceanfront Studio in Surry. The cottage is quite comfortable and well appointed. Lovely setting down a quiet drive. We didn't spend much time on the beach as we were intent upon exploring the area, but the cottage was a welcome respite from our busy lives.
This cottage was an ideal size for the two of us and our dog. Having a private beach just steps from the house was absolutely the best part. We walked the shoreline during low tide, swam during hide tide, and had fires on the beach at night. Acadia National Park is only a 45 minute drive away and coming back after a long hike or a day in Bar Harbor to this peaceful setting was simply perfect. We grilled on the back deck most nights and the kitchen is stocked with any supplies you would need. Dee was very accommodating to us and prompt in her responses from the day we booked until the day we left!
From making our reservation to departing down the driveway, every aspect of our stay was outstanding. All communication with Dee was very prompt and she was so kind to give us lots local recommendations for dining and activities. The cottage was in pristine condition and had every basic amenity you would need during you stay. It had plenty of room for the two of us, along with our dog. The views of the water and the Acadia mountains were absolutely stunning. Such a quiet and serene surrounding. Whether you're looking for the bustle of nearby Bar Harbor or a peaceful retreat away from a busy life, this is the place for you! Thank you Dee for your incredible hospitality!
my husband and I, along with our little dog, spent two amazing weeks at the studio. Dee and John are the most wonderful of hosts. there is plenty of space in the studio with a large bathroom, a nice sized closet, and a very comfortable bed. on those colder days and nights the heated floors were fabulous to have. a small refrigerator, utensils, dishes, pots & pans, and a myriad of kitchen appliances are provided. there is no television or telephone - so nice to be unplugged. the location of the studio is perfect, not a far drive if you want to explore the surrounding area or go to Acadia. there were a couple of days we stayed at the studio the whole day. having the access to the beach was so nice, especially for building a campfire. It was a quiet and peaceful place. the sound of the tide coming in, the fragrance of forrest and sea mixed together, and the colors of sunrise and sunset will remain with you from your stay at this little gem.
My husband and I visited this lovely cottage on the coast of Maine this summer. It was in a beautiful, remote setting but very close to great resturants and activities. Also close to Acadia. Everything (non electronic) was provided. There was even a great selection of books! If you want to leave the fast paced, electronic, world this is the place. The cottage would be comfortable for two people only. It is small. However, there is a larger, very nice cottage on the property owned by the same people. This cottage would easily accomodate 4.
I highly recomend the property.
Plenty of opportunity for outdoor recreation, sailing, tennis, golf, kayaking, windsurfing, biking and for cultural pursuits such as art, classical music, jazz, theater and dance.
