Good dogs are welcome smoking is not. The nightly rate is $225. Its only minutes away from the National Lake Shore Park- Sleeping Bear Dunes. Traverse City is less than 4 1/5 miles to its popular West side activities. It is a unique two bedroom cottage filled with natural light and wonderful panoramic views of Power Island, Old Mission Peninsula, white caped waves, fishing and vintage sailing schooners sailing by and fantastic unforgettable moon lit waters. There are two bedrooms with one full bath on the second floor and a half bath, on the main level. The stairway leads to a bridge on the second floor that connects the master bedroom to the sky lit bathroom and walk in closet. The laundry is located in the basement. Although a mere five minutes from downtown, the large shaded yard facing the water, offers privacy that seems farther away. The location is literally surrounded by northern attractions; wine tasting is within walking distance as is the bike path that connects Traverse City to Sutton's Bay. There are a number of light houses to visit. Northport lighthouse is 25 miles north on M-22, and Old Mission is located on the end of the same peninsula, visible from the cottage.

The cottage has West Bay access with a small beach and fire pit. Boating from the beach and the use of an existing mooring ball are available. Power Island is a favorite boating destination. There are many nearby parks and beaches as well.

You can cook meals in the fully equipped kitchen or grill out on a large deck overlooking flower beds, a landscaped yard and Traverse Citys West Bay. After dinner, relax, sip wine and watch the moon rise over the beautiful ever changing water. This cottage has been featured in Traverse The Magazine and Northern Express paper as well as other publications. It is close to all that the Grand Traverse area and Leelanau County have to offer. The cottage has central air conditioning. Wireless internet is provided as well as basic television

Even Better Than It Appears To Be

  • 5 of 5

This house was so cool. The pictures don't convey all the surprises this house contains--The decor is personalized, unique. We spent several minutes a day looking around at what is on the walls. The upstairs bedroom has a window that opens out into the living area, but it can be shut if you don't want the sunrise waking you up or if you need privacy. This is the first vacation house I've stayed at that not only had cable but also Roku, which is nice if you insomnia; otherwise, we were out all day exploring Traverse City and Leelaunau Peninsula.

I did not get to meet the owner, but the other half of my party did. He was there to greet them when they arrived, and they said he was nice and told them a little bit about the house.

The front window provides the perfect spot to see the sun- or moonrise. I didn't go in the back at all, but the front yard has lots of plants, a casual and natural feel. The front porch is also nice, but my only nitpick of this place is that I would have liked more comfortable chairs out there, but what is there is also fine.

We stayed until checkout time on the last day because we didn't want to leave the house. I want to stay here again.

Finally, if you're having doubts about whether to go to Traverse City, go. It's a wonderful town and area. And stay at this house.

Close enough to TC, but far enough out of town to get away from the crowds! Excellent bay view!

  • 4 of 5

Older cottage with open concept, pretty outdoor gardens. Small but full kitchen with everything you need (for a party of 4). A little close to the noise of M22, but that's how you get an amazing view of the bay!!!

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

Our stay couldn't have been better. The home was well appointed, comfortable, and was well located. Sleeping Bear Dunes were an easy 30 minute drive to the west and 15 minutes from heart of Traverse City. Plus there were several wineries in the area. Jim met us at the house and gave us a great tour. Plus he had several great ideas on what to do in the area. Finally, we couldn't have asked for a better view of the bay.

We would definitely stay here again

  • 4 of 5

The owner is very kind and was there to greet us when we arrived. He gave us a tour and put together a booklet of information for us to look through. The house is in the perfect location to access wine tasting and downtown. The morning views of the bay were breathtaking.

We had a fantastic time at the place

Jim was great, everything was exactly how Jim said it would be.

Jim made arriving at the property and access very easy.

The beach acros the street was beautiful to have each morning, our pups loved it.

Everywhere we wanted to go was within easy reach.

What a great stay we had, thank you Jim.

Kind regards

James & Veronica.

Beautiful area

  • 4 of 5

This was our first trip to Northern Michigan and we loved it! Jim's eclectic rental is ideally located between Traverse City and dozens of wineries, breweries, cute villages and Sleeping Bear Dunes. Our favorite spots were The Towne Plaza in downtown Traverse City and Tandem Ciders outside Suttons Bay. The property was clean and free of bugs. Morning summer sun pours into the house, which I appreciated but late sleepers may not. Jim was very responsive and flexible, even with our changing flight arrival times.
