Why Lisa Sykes chose Pisgah Forest

We chose to purchase rental property in the Brevard area due to its proximity to the beautiful scenery, wildlife, outdoor activities (i.e., hiking, fly-fishing, rock climbing, and bike riding, etc.) available in the hundreds of acres of state and national forest in the Blue Ridge Mountains. In addition, Brevard is a charming Appalachian town that offers a thriving music and arts community, as well as fantastic shopping and dining.

What makes this cabin unique

While a mere 5 minute drive to wonderful downtown Brevard area, visitors to this cabin will enjoy a private, secluded haven complete with astonishing views, a beautiful setting atop Mine Mountain, and the potential to see a large variety of the wildlife indigenous to this region (including the unusual white squirrels Brevard is known for).

New Years trip

  • 5 of 5

We were two families looking to get away from the holiday rush and ring in the New Year in the mountains. This cabin was perfect! The views from the back porch were beautiful and we loved watching the sunset each day all bundled up. There were seven of us staying together and we had plenty of room. My two teenage daughters especially loved the bunkroom off the kitchen making it their hideaway and they loved the easy access for cookie foraging in the middle of the night. It was one of the coldest New Years Brevard has seen in several years and we were toasty and perfectly content in front of the wonderful fireplace. There was plenty of fire wood and you would have never known how cold it was outside. We had a light snow as well and it made for a perfect New Years! Despite having sleet and snow, the roads the next day were easily drivable despite the temperature never getting out of the teens. We even went on a New Years Day waterfall hike in the Pisgah. The temps never got above freezing but we still had a wonderful time. The cold temperatures just added to the fun and made the cabin even cozier each afternoon when we returned. The cabin is well equipped and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare warm, great meals. We really could not have asked for anything more. Lisa makes it easy to arrive at the cabin and start enjoying immediately. No detail has been overlooked. I would recommend this cabin to friends and will definitely stay here again.

Beautifully decorated, luxurious and cozy!

  • 4 of 5

This cabin was beautiful and very accommodating for our family of five. Very well stocked with everything you need and more! Lots of attention to detail and decor. Loved the wood burning fireplace, stocked with plenty of wood. Master bed is super comfy and bathrooms are very nice! The kitchen was also very nice. Everything was clean and linens fresh. Gorgeous deck and views. I would highly recommend not using gps finding the cabin as it was so wrong. Plus we arrived after dark and in dense fog, further creating difficulty in reading the street signs. The owners have detailed directions and if you follow them and arrive before dark, you’ll find it no problem! We had a great stay and would recommend this cabin to anyone!

A really special property

  • 5 of 5

Stayed two nights for hiking in the area. The house has amazing 180 degree view of mountains from the large deck. Kitchen has everything anyone would need. Extremely clean home, attractively furnished and comfortable bedding. Many extras were a nice surprise: a basket of snacks, tons of local trail maps and guide books and a large supply of firewood (and starter). We enjoyed it thoroughly and will definitely plan more trips to this beautiful home.

Wonderfull Mt. Cabin

  • 5 of 5

The description is spot on, a great mountain cabin retreat, very private location yet close to town. We thoroughly enjoyed lounging on the deck drinking coffee in the mornings and listening to the deafening tree frog chorus at night. Without a doubt, we would love to stay here again!

Beautiful remote setting

  • 4 of 5

If you like quiet then this is for you. The home is very nicely furnished and is located down a winding gravel driveway off of a long blacktop road that curls up the mountain. I grew up on roads like this so I loved it but my wife and her twin sister -- who are Florida flat-lander types -- described the climbs up and down the mountain as being on a roller coaster. My driving style could have contributed to their descriptions. If you want to be in a lovely quiet place with a nice view of the mountains then this is it. I am disappointed that we did not see any deer or much of any other wildlife except squirrels but the setting of the home is beautiful.

Secluded location that was very peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed the house. The kids loved seeing the lightning bugs at dusk. They also enjoyed the curvy road leading to the house. It is a very peaceful setting. The home itself is roomy and lovely.
