Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-5)

Cabin #1, known as “Bear Ridge View”, is located on 64 privately-owned acres atop Mine Mountain, which is approximately five minutes from the entrance to Pisgah Forest. The cabin was recently renovated and contains two bedrooms (1 King & 1 Queen), 2 baths, and a modern kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. It also features generous outside decks with an outdoor eating area, wireless internet, Direct TV, a DVD player and library, a washer and dryer, and a gas grill. Guests can enjoy the solitude of the area while rocking on the newly constructed covered back porch. This porch, which overlooks Pisgah Forest, features ample seating for large groups, as well as a ceiling fan and variable lighting to guarantee year-round comfort. Bear Ridge View, with its knotty-pine paneling and charming décor featuring a mix of unique antiques and newer pieces, is an ideal cabin for couples or small families.

The efficiency cabin, known as the “Moonshine Shack”, is located adjacent to this cabin and features one large main room, including a kitchenette and sleeping area, as well as one bath and a covered porch. This cabin got its name due to the fact that it was the site of a moonshine operation run by the prior owner. The Moonshine Shack can be rented for an additional fee of $45/nt plus a $20 cleaning fee to provide additional sleeping quarters for the occupants of Bear Ridge.

Why Lisa Sykes chose Pisgah Forest

We chose to purchase rental property in the Brevard area due to its proximity to the beautiful scenery, wildlife, outdoor activities (i.e., hiking, fly-fishing, rock climbing, and bike riding, etc.) available in the hundreds of acres of state and national forest in the Blue Ridge Mountains. In addition, Brevard is a charming Appalachian town that offers a thriving music and arts community, as well as fantastic shopping and dining.

What makes this cabin unique

While a mere 5 minute drive to wonderful downtown Brevard area, visitors to this cabin will enjoy a private, secluded haven complete with astonishing views, a beautiful setting atop Mine Mountain, and the potential to see a large variety of the wildlife indigenous to this region (including the unusual white squirrels Brevard is known for).

Darn close to perfection!

  • 4 of 5

I loved this cabin and would stay there again and have already recommended it to friends. I do have a few things that were a little more difficult than what I thought.

1. Turning my SUV around took a little work but I learned how to manage it quite well.

2. The wood for the fireplace was too fresh or something because I had to constantly work with the firewood and fire starters to have a fire for a few nights. I finally gave up and quit so that was my biggest disappointment in the cabin. I also felt like there was a strong fireplace odor in the living area of the cabin from the time I arrived.

3. A few more spiders than I prefer were hanging out in the cabin but I hear that is an issue in NC anyway.

4. I wish I had a better view of the mountains even though I loved all the beautiful trees. It would have been nice to have a far away view.

All these things are really small except for the difficulty with the fireplace. I loved the silence, the privacy and the cabin. It was the perfect size for me and for company when I had some. I am hoping my family and I will be able to return in the summer so the grandkids can discover the fun and beauty in the mountains. The cabin was clean, neat, decorated warmly and I made it "mine" in less than two days. The owners were very responsive to me and I felt like they really cared about my welfare while on vacation.

Peaceful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bear Ridge. The cabin is well appointed, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The peaceful setting and relaxing porch are definite highlights. And the cabin's proximity to downtown Brevard, Pisgah Forest and Dupont make it very convenient to lots of restaurants, shopping and outdoor activities. We will definitely return to Bear Ridge!

Fantastic Property with great amenitie.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed Labor day weekend and really enjoyed the cabin. The cabin has everything needed for a great experience. The location is great, only minutes from the national Forest, sliding rock, hiking and tubing down the Davidson river. The town of Brevard has many wonderful shops and restaurants.

I highly recommend staying here.
