Buckhorn Cove Ocean Front with Private Peninsula

This once-in-a-lifetime retreat offers unsurpassed views of the spectacular Mendocino coastline and iconic Buck Horn Cove. With over three acres, this property features a private peninsula where you can truly experience the power and beauty of the mighty Pacific. The main house includes three bedrooms, two downstairs, and a large primary suite on the second level with a private bath and balcony. There is also a private guest cottage that includes a freestanding gas fireplace and a private bath. The large deck has a sunken hot tub situated in the perfect location to relax and be mesmerized by the everchanging views. Because of the cliff-front location, there is a minimum age of 10 years and over required for any guests. Please note that the staircase at the top of the bluff is restricted, and no access is allowed.

Having arrived in the middle of a storm, we were surprised and happy to find the house had back up power. While some things didn’t function, the majority of the house did. Heat, lights, hot water were not a problem.

Amazing spot!

Visited for my birthday and could not be happier with my visit. Even with the winter weather i was able to enjoy the views from the family room and the peninsula, in fact the weather made it even more dramatic! Cozy, warm, comfortable and still able to enjoy the ocean!

Annual vacation to Mendocino Coast

We have rented a vacation home along the Mendocino Coast for the past 29 years and this house is at the top of the list! The views, layout, cleanliness, attractions were all fantastic! We can't wait to visit this house again!

This was our first stay on the CA coast and Buckhorn Cove did nothing but amaze us! There are no pictures that will do the view justice!!! Don’t second guess booking! Just do it! Mendocino is such a great town and everyone was so kind!!! We will be back!

The views from the house of the cliffs, ocean and sunsets are not to be surpassed. It has the most well equipped kitchen of any rental I have spent time in and its now my go to place for an accommodation in coastal northern California - its just ten minutes to downtown Mendocino and a short drive to Jug Handle and Van Dam state parks. We didn't use the hot tub, but will certainly avail ourselves to it on our next visit.

This property is absolutely incredible and stocked with everything you could want. Very clean home, all the beds were very comfortable (the reviews about them sagging are outdated and inaccurate) and warm, and the worlds best noise maker is outside your patio door! The private bluff is the coolest experience. Absolutely insane to get this all to yourself. We will coming back to enjoy this place again. Also, the property management company is very responsive and helpful. 10/10 on every level.You will not regret staying here, only having to leave at the end of your trip.

And the view is unreal. The only complaint is that there is no box spring or platform on the master bedroom bed so the mattress sinks halfway to the floor when sleeping -making for an incredibly uncomfortable experience. I called and let someone at the office know - but never heard back. All that said- we are already looking to book another stay- hopefully the bed will be repaired by then...

The views from the home and bluffs are such a wonderful showcase of how truly breathtaking nature can be. Every direction looking out from the house or from the bluff areas was truly amazing. The house and cottage are very well designed and very very clean. The kitchen was well appointed and had plenty of dishware and cooking tools. The wifi worked well. The grounds around the house are very well kept. The deck was perfect for dining and sitting to take in the view. The hot tub was very clean and the perfect way to end the day and listen to the sounds of the ocean. Will definitely be coming back to this location to enjoy again some day.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location of this vintage house is stunning, outstanding. The decking so expansive and the view beautiful. You just want to be outside all the time to soak it in. The house was clean, the kitchen is well equipped. We hug out in the TV area and at the dining room table. But there were some problems that need to be addressed for such an expensive rental. If you are sensitive to perfumes, the house had oil "air fresheners" up and downstairs that gave us such headaches upon arrival, so we put them outside and aired the house. They are not needed with the clean ocean air outside. or so we thought. But the kitchen garbage disposal had a vile smell when hot water went down the drain. We discovered some electrical outlets not working. The Master bathroom showerhead makes a painfully loud whistling noise, but we adjusted it to make it less bad. We were surprised to find a big lizard slithering around the dining area but we gently got it outside. We'd read the review of the Master bed being a memory foam and you sank into to it to such a degree it was uncomfortable. So we opted for the downstairs bedrooms. But those mattresses are also memory foam, and they are so saggy we had to sleep sideways across the bed for support. Maybe they work for light weight children, but for adults over 120 pounds, they are uncomfortable if you like support. Also, the bottom sheets of both beds had not been changed. You could see the imprint of two bodies in one bed and the other had hair on it. We bring our own bedding for exactly this reason so we were okay with it, but it was gross, and the housekeeper should be told to do a better job. All that said, it is a beautiful place and we loved being there, but not going to sleep in those beds. Which bathroom to use?: The Master bathroom is modern, but up a steep narrow old staircase, not good if you have mobility issues, and the downstairs bathroom is like for kids, with a tub, and small toilet. But Location! Excellent! A mixed experience.

Only thing is the online info said the house had 3 king beds and 1 queen. There were only 2 kings and the other 2 were queens (almost felt like full beds). The house was clean but on some sheets you can tell an animal was there before by leftover hair. Again the house location and views are spectacular. Thank you! We will be back!
