Peace at Year's End

  • 5 of 5

The essential, glorious thing to know is this: River Run off-season is balm for the soul. The house is spacious, light-filled, warm and cozy ... so much so that once in the door, you never want to leave. The view out toward the river is eternal yet ever-changing. We were mesmerized by the ducks, geese and other birds foraging for winter food. And then there's the sunrise...gorgeous and worth setting your alarm for! I'm sure the house is wonderful in the summer but, honestly, in the winter it's pure perfection. Thank you for letting us stay. We came away rested and at peace. What could be better?

Cape Paradise on Tidal River!

  • 5 of 5

Paradise is found in this beautifully decorated spacious home situated on the Swan River. Early morning on the porch, overlooking the tidal river, with breakfast and a love for nature cannot be beat! Our kayak sat out on the end of the pier waiting to take us up to Swan Pond or down to the ocean. Great fun for everyone in the family. Conservation land across the river is home to deer, geese, egrets, and once we even saw a fox! In the yard come family friendly ducks, rabbits, and so many varieties of birds, even our bird lover friends were amazed.

All this, along with the joys of the cape, especially the Dennis bay beaches with tidal flats that rival all else, and the great seafood, reminds us of childhood pleasures of coming home in evenings for fires in the fire pit, games and reading and the joys of family time. Bring your bikes, too, as rail trails are convenient and safe.

The Burns family truly provide top accommodations - the beds are super comfortable, two bathrooms plus a oversized whirlpool bath and an outdoor shower make for ease in accommodating six people of all ages. Our highest recommendation comes with our hope to return next year for our third stay at this idyllic hidden gem.

Beautiful Property... Fantastic Location!!!

  • 5 of 5

We came to River Run for a long weekend in April and had a great time! The house and property exceeded our expectations in every category - cleanliness, location, amenities, etc.. The views from every room are gorgeous, and the house is in like-new condition thanks to the obvious hard work and thoughtfulness of the owners! Convenient location for all activities (beach, Cape Cod Rail Trail, and kayaking/canoeing to Swan Pond or the Nantucket Sound from your back yard). There are also many great restaurants in very close proximity to the property - Don't skip Bass River Burrito & Fish Co. - THis place is delicious!'

Kelly and Steve were wonderful hosts, we couldn't have asked for a better place to spend our weekend!!! Thank you so much!!! We will DEFINITELY be returning to River Run soon!!!

Doesn't get any better!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were extremely satisfied with this house rental. The location, the view, the decor, and the amenities were all top notch. Usually at the end of a wonderful day at the beach, we're sad to head back to our accommodations. Not so at this house. We didn't feel the need to go out to dinner, so take out was a wonderful option because the river view can't be beat. The cottage accommodates 6 adults very nicely. The furnishings and decor are beautiful. All the necessities for cooking and cleaning are available. The location is so close to rte 28, yet you can't hear the traffic. It's centrally located, so neither the bayside or oceanside beaches are far away. A good market for deli meat, milk, etc is a short walk away, along with a liquor store. We rode our bikes from the cottage to the rail trail and out to chatham. We were sad to say goodbye, but hope to return again. We are reluctant to rate this rental property so highly as we don't want the rental competition :) Thank you to Steve, Kelly and Michael for allowing us to enjoy what surely must be your pride and joy!

Wonderful Home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at River Run June 14-21, 2014. It is a wonderful place to spend your Cape vacation. The location is beautiful, right on the tidal Swan River with gorgeous views. It's fun to watch the "traffic" on the river from the deck. Even though there are houses next door, the trees give the home lots of privacy. With all the birds and animals, you feel like you are living in a nature preserve! We even saw two wild turkeys in the yard one morning. The pictures do not do the home justice. The kitchen has been totally redone with new cabinets, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. It is well-equipped with dishware, cookware, etc. That's important because you will not want to leave and will want to eat-in many nights and sit on the deck and enjoy the view. The home is immaculate and well-cared for. It is very light and airy, with an open floor plan and high ceilings in the living room and kitchen. The location is wonderful, close to beaches, restaurants, ice cream, grocery stores and many of the things you'll want to do on your vacation. We met Kelly briefly as we were leaving and she was very friendly and easy to work with. We hope to return to River Run on our next visit to the Cape. Thank you Kelly for a great vacation!
