Julie we're so glad you enjoyed your stay and got a glimpse of some bears! It looks like you may not have seen the 5G hotspot we provide for our guests on the counter next to the refrigerator. The land line can be a little slow, especially when there are a number of devices logged in at the same time, but with the hotspot you should have had no issues. If you had let us know at any point during your stay, we would have gladly come to the house to see if it was unplugged or for some reason was not powered on. Thank you again for staying with us. We just want to clarify for our future guests that the road to the house is a wide, paved, two-lane road, but the paved driveway is a one lane driveway. Again, thank you for staying with us. Thank you for your five-star review, and we’re so glad you thought everything was wonderful! However, the three things you mentioned are not accurate, and we'd like to set the record straight. We’ve been hosting guests for eight years and none of them have ever described the roads as dangerous. In the 32 years we’ve lived in the community, we have never had an issue with the roads, nor witnessed an accident. The roads leading to the house are all wide, two-lane, paved roads, which are well-maintained by the homeowners association and are constantly used by the ninety or so families who live in the community. If you were referring to the driveway, like any other driveway it is a one-lane paved driveway to the doorstep of the house. Second, as the pictures indicate, there is a master bedroom with its own full bath and living space on the same level as the main parking area. Also, as the pictures indicate, there is an upper driveway which provides direct access to the main floor of the house, where there is another bedroom and only one set of stairs to access the three upstairs bedrooms. Third, if you had let us know you were having problems with the internet, we would have been delighted to come reset it for you, have AT&T send their service tech, or even brought you a hotspot. We do want to say that you were some of the most considerate guests we’ve had and we appreciate you leaving the home in immaculate condition. We would be happy to host you at any time in the future!

We have supplemented the WiFi with additional Verizon networks to give guests faster and more reliable service. Thank you again for all your amazing comments about the house! We’re so delighted that you’ve already made a reservation to stay with us for nine days next August, and we’re very excited to host you again!! Thank you so much for your lovely comments! It seems like you all have a special gift for appreciating the beauty and the small details of the amazing views from the spacious porches. Although, as you mentioned, we usually only see them at a distance, bears are an integral part of life in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. Recently, on CBS news there was a video of a “Law Abiding Bear” looking both ways as it walked across a pedestrian crossing in downtown Asheville! They tend to be more active at certain times of the year, and they’re attracted to the smell of food. That’s why we do remind our guests not to leave food outside or in the car, which can be an invitation to come around, but we’re so glad you got some amazing footage to share with your friends! You all are truly a wonderful family and we’re really looking forward to hosting you again in August!

Zach, we're so glad you enjoyed your stay and you got to see some of the beautiful wildlife on the mountain! Sorry you had issues with the Wifi. If you had notified us during your stay, we would have immediately provided you with another hotspot. The cell signal at the house has never been an issue for most carriers, like Verizon and AT&T. However, it has been an issue for T-mobile customers at times. This month (August 2024), we will have AT&T fiber internet connected, which has finally been made available at the house after many years of waiting. With 1 gigabyte per second, internet should never be a problem again. Regarding the roads, all access to the house is on a paved two-lane road to the driveway, and the driveway is cobblestone paving up to both entrance levels of the house. As far as steepness goes, it may be more a matter of perception from one person to another. The home is in a large mountain community of 140+ property owners, many of whom live and work here and have children attending school daily, as was the case with us for 35 years. We really enjoyed hosting you all! You were amazing guests and we would love to host you again in the future!
