About Yindra Vylet

The magic of CreekHouse brought us to North Carolina. We lived at different parts of the word and spent the past decades in California but after visiting the CreekHouse we decided to leave everything behind and move to Bakersville North Carolina where we first bought another house. Few months later the CreekHouse got on the market, we couldn't resist and decided to buy it for vacation rental. The mountains surrounding Bakersville is the home of many artists, many of them have the similar stories; once they visited the area, decided to move here. We both studied art in Europe but life drifted us to other carriers, but now we have the opportunity to continue our broken path. The beauty of the natural scenery is just indescribable; everyday is a wonder. When we are not at the CreekHouse, we are hiking, creating art, remodeling our other house, visiting galleries, taking pictures of the wonderful wildlife or practicing culinary art. We enjoy making people happy by sharing the CreekHouse with our guests.

Yindra Vylet purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Yindra Vylet chose Bakersville

The moment we saw this property we wanted to call it ours. The serenity of this property just magical. It is a labor of love to maintain the large lush landscaping with private creek bordering the property and a pond but it is worth every effort.

Deer, wild turkeys and many different birds are frequent visitors here, magical to watch them from the large screened porch. Spending time at CreekHouse is a life changing experience as many of our CreekHouse guests called it. We like the fact it is in the center of many activities; ski area, waterfalls, hikes, ziplining, gem mining, horse riding, rafting, Asheville, Johnson City, Burnsville, Spruce Pine. All within 45 minutes of drive which is in Los Angeles traffic term: “very close”.

What makes this cottage unique

Everything about this place is unique, but sitting on the front porch looking straight up at the Roan Mountain while listening to birds chatter ceaselessly against the background sounds of the rushing water makes it a place like no other. As if that were not enough, the spiritual private boulder garden located just to the left of the screened porch is a total unexpected delight. I feel closer to God when I am at the Creekhouse.

Truly a Treasure!

  • 5 of 5

What a treasure we have found! Beginning with the warm and friendly greeting we received, toy blocks and toy trucks set up for my two little ones, coloring Easter Pages, as we were there easter weekend, and a sweet welcome note on the kitchen table with easter bunnies and other sweet treats. We felt so at home! Walking out onto the screened in porch you can hear the water running behind the house. The yard is large and perfect for my 2 outside loving boys to run around. We loved playing in the yard but especially playing in the water. It is shallow enough on the edges that we could sit and watch the children splash in the water, throw rocks play in the mud etc. It was no doubt their favorite spot as they asked to go there as soon as they woke up each morning. Each evening we cooked outside on the grill and ate outside on either the screened in porch or on the table on the outside porch and enjoyed the evenings outside.

The inside of the house is really clean and cozy and very home like, beds are comfortable and the kitchen has everything that you could need. We honestly didn't spend much time inside as the weather was beautiful and the outside of the property is beautiful and so peaceful. It was the perfect weekend getaway spot and we cannot wait to come back again!

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us and for all of the extra touches truly making us feel at home.

Owner's Response: Thank you Katie for your kind words. Making our guests feel at home and happy at the CreekHouse is truly a joy for us. The fact that your boys had so much fun it is the greatest reward for us. We're looking forward to seeing you and your "little ones" soon.

A Peaceful Oasis

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we walked in until the moment we left, everything was perfect. Upon entering Creek House we were greeted by softly playing music and an aura of peace. A personalized greeting and bundt cakes awaited us in the kitchen. It was obvious a lot of care, love and attention to details have been put into this home. We were only there for two nights, and on Saturday we hiked to the top of Roan Mountain. It was glorious. However, you don't need to go anywhere if staying in and relaxing is your goal. The grounds are large and well maintained. There is a beautiful enclosed porch area that overlooks a gazebo which will lead you down to the rushing creek. I could go on and on about how much we enjoyed our time here. Oh, and if you like to cook, the kitchen has all the tools you will need for a gourmet meal, and there is a grill outback for hamburgers, or whatever you want. A wonderful experience at a beautiful location that I highly recommend.

Amazing Creekhouse!!

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a few days away to relax and catch up with some good friends. The house was everything that we were hoping for and was as described on the website. The house was immaculate and very well stocked with linens and everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. The house was beautifully decorated and we felt at home immediately. We enjoyed the screened porch and the screened gazebo for early morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. The guys even caught a few fish! There are many places to go visit nearby, however, it was nice just to hang out and enjoy the sound of the creek! We would definitely recommend this house and we hope to return again next year!!

Lovely property.

  • 5 of 5

We loved this cabin by the creek. The owners obviously put a lot of thought into the property and it shows. We loved (and used) all four fireplaces during our too short stay. The kids were fascinated by the stream and also the chipmunks. We were sincerely impressed by the welcoming touches we received when we arrived at the property. For sure it is a remote location and wifi in the mountains is pretty spotty but who needs it when you can roast marshmallows and make Smores around a bubbling stream-side firepit. Thanks so much Yindra and John (owners) and heads up... the kids have decided that we ARE coming back! Cheers!

Owner's Response: Thank you Mark, we are delighted to hear that you and your kids had a good time at the CreekHouse! Great news! The fiber optic cable finally reached our remote location! We have fast internet now! Also, your enthusiasm for camp fire made us decide to build a very nice stone fire pit by the river. Looking forward to host you again soon!

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We usually go to the Maggie Valley area and wanted to try something new. This house was perfect for the two of us! Easy to get to and not far from things to do. Located on a huge property with a beautiful stream right in the backyard! It rained quite a bit one day and it really made the river go which was cool to see. (If traveling with little ones you would need to keep a close eye on them.) The communication with the owners was AWESOME, they usually got back to us on the app within 10 minutes. No issues at all during our stay, they really went above and beyond to make sure we had a nice time. Thank you!

Excellent and relaxing time. Pictures are exactly as shown. We arrived with a light snow dusting and then it warmed up some. Very comfortable accommodations for two couples. Special and delish homemade sweet treat was waiting for us.
