About the property

2 br. cozy cabin with spectacular screened porch and manicured 3 acr landscaping

The CreekHouse is an easily accessible vacation destination. Once you arrive, you will not want to leave. Located just 3 miles north of the quaint town of Bakersville, you will be greeted by songbirds and sounds of rushing creek water. After spending time at the water, you may want to relax on the large screened porch, walk thru the woods or spend quiet time in prayerful meditation in the boulder garden.

The CreekHouse includes all the creature comforts such as central air, WIFI, TV with DVD player and dish network in the living room, DVD in the master bedroom, fans in each room, fully equipped kitchen complete with stainless steel appliances, master bedroom w/private bath, and fireplace, washer and dryer, ceramic tile floors and all the comforts of home. But being at the CreekHouse is not about being inside, it is about nature and being outside. You will start your day with coffee on the screen porch and you might want to cook breakfast out on the grill that is located on one of the several different level decks. You may then wish to take your breakfast platter to the screened gazebo down by the water to enjoy listening to the sounds of nature while you eat. To travel back and forth between the house and the water you will walk the winding stone path that also branches off to the shade of one of several botanical gardens, or you might want to check out the pond. In the evening, you can watch in delight as the lightening bugs put on a show that will take you back to your childhood memories of capturing them in a bottle. Staying at the CreekHouse is certain to be a vacation you will always remember.

About Yindra Vylet

The magic of CreekHouse brought us to North Carolina. We lived at different parts of the word and spent the past decades in California but after visiting the CreekHouse we decided to leave everything behind and move to Bakersville North Carolina where we bought an other house. Few months later the CreekHouse got on the market, we couldn't resist and decided to buy it for vacation rental. The mountains surrounding Bakersville is the home of many artists, many of them have the similar stories; once they visited the area they decided to move here. We both studied art in Europe but life drifted us to other carriers, but now we have the opportunity to continue our broken path. The beauty of the natural scenery is just indescribable; everyday is a wonder. When we are not at the CreekHouse, we are hiking, creating art, remodeling our other house, visiting galleries, taking pictures of the wonderful wildlife or practicing culinary art. We enjoy making people happy by sharing the CreekHouse with our guests.

Yindra Vylet purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Yindra Vylet chose Blue Ridge Mountains

The moment we saw this property we wanted to call it ours. The serenity of this property just magical. It is a large lush landscaping to maintain with private creek bordering the land and a pond but is worth every effort, it is a labor of love.

Deer, wild turkeys and many different birds are daily visitors here, magical to watch them from the large screened porch. Experiencing this property is a life changing experience as many of CreekHouse guests cal it.

What makes this cottage unique

Everything about this place is unique, but sitting on the front porch looking straight up at the Roan Mountain while listening to birds chatter ceaselessly against the background sounds of the rushing water makes it a place like no other. As if that were not enough, the private boulder garden located just to the left of the screened porch is a total unexpected delight. I feel closest to God when I am at the Creekhouse.

Truly a Treasure!

  • 5 of 5

What a treasure we have found! Beginning with the warm and friendly greeting we received, toy blocks and toy trucks set up for my two little ones, coloring Easter Pages, as we were there easter weekend, and a sweet welcome note on the kitchen table with easter bunnies and other sweet treats. We felt so at home! Walking out onto the screened in porch you can hear the water running behind the house. The yard is large and perfect for my 2 outside loving boys to run around. We loved playing in the yard but especially playing in the water. It is shallow enough on the edges that we could sit and watch the children splash in the water, throw rocks play in the mud etc. It was no doubt their favorite spot as they asked to go there as soon as they woke up each morning. Each evening we cooked outside on the grill and ate outside on either the screened in porch or on the table on the outside porch and enjoyed the evenings outside.

The inside of the house is really clean and cozy and very home like, beds are comfortable and the kitchen has everything that you could need. We honestly didn't spend much time inside as the weather was beautiful and the outside of the property is beautiful and so peaceful. It was the perfect weekend getaway spot and we cannot wait to come back again!

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us and for all of the extra touches truly making us feel at home.

Owner's Response: Thank you Katie for your kind words. Making our guests feel at home and happy at the CreekHouse is truly a joy for us. The fact that your boys had so much fun it is the greatest reward for us. We're looking forward to seeing you and your "little ones" soon.

Another wonderful stay at the Creek House!

  • 5 of 5

This time in February--a time when we haven't visited before. As always, the house was immaculate and well stocked with essentials. In this case, the owners even left some toys and books for our 3-year-old granddaughter! We are already looking forward to our next visit--although maybe in a little warmer weather!

Great visit last time

  • 2 of 5

This VRBO has had a change of ownership since last visited. While I was told the Internet was not working - this didn't bother me at all. However, it also cut out the phone service that was listed as being available in the review listing. I was not told about this. As a non cell phone owner this phone service was VERY important to me. From phone conversation, new owners were aware that I did not have a cell phone. Also the TV in the living area was not working. This also prevented any DVD watching. Hard to have some family viewing time when other TVs are located in the bedrooms.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking your time to write a review. The CreekHouse is an amazing property and our guest’s satisfaction is our number one concern. As the new owners of the property we have been making many improvements. We already added convenient and health conscious appliances to the kitchen, improved selection of kitchen condiments, expanded our CD and DVD library, added books for all ages including many about the area’s landmarks. Also added board games, children toys and art supplies for our guests with family. We were in the process of improving our internet services as well (which includes TV and phone) of which we informed you before the booking and we discounted our price by about 30%. Despite the discount we initialized a request for a temporary internet package as soon as we learned about the booking. We have two working DVD players installed, one is built in the HD TV . We managed to get a WIFI in that short time and the Satellite was suppose to be installed in the morning of your arrival but the appointment was rescheduled for 3 days later and there was nothing we could do about it.. We offered to use our tablet PC in lieu of cable TV and for communication through internet phone applications. While we explained the situation and apologized before your checking in we didn’t realize that the lack of TV would so negatively affect your stay in the mountains. Would we realize that, we would’ve understand and gladly refunded your deposit because our guest’s satisfaction is our first priority. With regards and apology Yindra and John

One of our best vacations ever! So refreshing & life-changing!! We didn’t want to leave!

  • 5 of 5

The Creek House on Pumpkin Patch Road is just spectacular! First off, it’s located in Pumpkin Patch Gap on Pumpkin Patch Road, how could one not love that?! The views here are amazing. The house sits just under the Roan Mountain and not far from Mount Mitchell. There are beautiful mountain views surrounding this tranquil property. Adventure isn’t far away, as a matter of fact, it’s right out the back door, down the hill. The Blue Ribbon Trout Stream outlines the rear property. You can fish and wade in the creek or just sit and listen to the soothing sounds of water rushing by.

Our family found lots of beautiful, unique river rocks and some sort of tree seed or nut, we haven’t figured out which yet. But they’re just a lovely addition to our “nature collection”. And if you’re looking for bird watching, there are plenty of birds, hawks and eagles galore in these hills! We found quite a few feathers to incorporate into our collection too!

Did I mention relaxation was abound here? Well, it is plentiful! The HUGE screen porch with rocking chairs and wicker furniture sets offer a cozy, serene spot to take it all in. From the porch you can see the beautiful rock and statue garden. Depending on your preference, you can mediate or pray, you’ll feel absolutely free and blessed, trust me. There’s also a nice gazebo overlooking the steam, you can’t beat the breathtaking feeling there!

My favorite part of our trip was sitting on the porch and watching my children run and play on the grounds. I think there’s 2 acres here with grass so lush and soft! We built a fire and roasted marshmallows in both fire pits a few times. The kids just loved it! We loved the outside of this property so much we hardly spent any time inside. But when we did, we found wonderful bedding and comfy living room furniture! We had supreme privacy as the bedrooms are at either end of the house, separated by a spacious living room and well stocked kitchen.

The Penland School isn’t far from the house and Linville Caverns is close by as well. We ate twice in four days at the Harvest Market in Bakersville. That’s a great friendly, family owned restaurant!

As I said before this vacation and property were life-changing! I'm being serious - it's life-changing! We will be back, as a matter of fact we’re already planning our next trip! You won’t be disappointed by staying here, in fact, I bet you’ll never want to leave!

Creek House

  • 5 of 5

This was a great rental near wonderful hiking close to Roan Mountain. The house was comfortable and nicely decorated. Great for four people. Fully stocked kitchen; all you needed to buy was food. Comfortable beds with nice linens. But the best feature was the large screened porch with lots of different seating and a wicker dining table. One can enjoy being outside in any kind of weather. We lived on the porch with its view of the mountains and the nice back yard, creek included. It doesn't get any more relaxing than this!
