About the property

Home away from Home on the South Toe River! Everything you need to enjoy the view and relax. Our home is accessible no matter what the weather. County maintained asphalt roads all the way to the driveway. Indoor Jacuzzi in the walk out basement along with a gaming table and bar all done in tasteful log cabin decor. Enjoy a movie on the big screen tv on the comfy sectional couch in the basement or have a game of cards or monopoly on the large game table. Upstairs enjoy the gas fireplace and turn the music up or watch your favorite tv show. Read a book on the upper deck at the table under the umbrella as the birds eat at the feeders down below. Hummingbirds abound in the spring and you can see the trout swimming in the shallow waters in the South Toe River. Enjoy a fire down by the river at the fire pit; gather fallen branches or bring your own wood. In the summer, you can rent inner tubes and drop the kids off upstream for them to get out right at your back yard. Trout fishermen are a common sight as well as other families floating downstream. Sleep at night with your windows open and let the sounds of the river lull you off to sleep! Wake up refreshed with a great cup of tea or coffee at the kitchen table which looks right out at the South Toe River.

Dogs are considered and require a $100 non refundable fee.

No Matter what time of the year it is, the view is astoundingly peaceful!

About Robin Fowler

Live in Atlanta, have 2 adult sons, retired Army with one son commissioning into the Army in December. Love to Travel, looking forward to retirement; not quite there yet.

Robin Fowler purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Robin Fowler chose Burnsville

Mike went to college at Western Carolina University and his parents bought a home in the general area many years ago. We spent many years looking for just the right home and it HAD to be on the river. Mike really enjoys fly fishing and Robin just likes the serenity of being close to the water. Both of us actually grew up in South Florida so having a home in the mountains has always been a dream for us.

What makes this cabin unique

When we get there it isn't unusual for Robin to just settle in, read books and relax. We enjoy going to the square to eat and visit our favorite clothing and gift shops. For lunch, there is the Garden Deli where you can eat inside or out and it's right on the square. In the spring, summer and fall, there is a craft fair featuring all kinds of local ware right on the square. There is a quaint little ONE SCREEN old-time theater that some of our guests have gone to see whatever movie is playing and there is even live theater. Mt Mitchell Golf Course is 10 minutes up the road and Carolina Hemlocks is a state park/camp site where you can rent inner tubes and play in the river. There is also a horse ranch up the road called Clear Creek and if they aren't booked up you might be able to squeeze in a trail ride if that's up your alley. Grandfather Mountain is about 45 minutes away and has great view and places to picnic. Crabtree Falls is a campground that allows you to follow the trail down to view a very cool waterfall, just remember you have to hike back up. You can do a lot or nothing at all and still have a wonderful time.

Always check with the Yancy county Chamber of Commerce to see what's coming up!

Picturesque perfection!

  • 5 of 5

We had the best time on our group birthday trip! Good or bad weather, there was plenty to do! The kids were crazy about the hot tub and with all the space the adults could be crazy with them or enjoy some peace and quiet. Cabin was spotless and super warm and cozy. The snow was fantastic. The roads were easy to access regardless and we had fun inside and out. Definitely can't wait to check it out in the summer too.

Miami FL

  • 5 of 5

My family and I drove from Miami FL, it was my moms birthday and we decided to go to North Carolina, we wanted to stay at a cabin and the Fowler’s cabin was the perfect stay, the cabin looks even better in person, the river at the back yard it’s so nice, my dog had lots of fun running around it and in the back yard, anything you might need for a gate away cabin vacation you are going to find it at the Fowler’s cabin, planning to go back in summer and I’ll be able to get in the river.

Thank you

Sincerely: Janisley Cardenas

Perfect mountain home!

  • 5 of 5

The home was absolutely perfect! It was clean, well equipped, and so cozy! Our kiddos has a blast watching the plethora of DVDs and m some became a whiz at dominoes. The porch was incredibly relaxing and the river was so peaceful. We would recommend this Home to anyone that wanted a beautiful getaway. It was much closer to town than we realized, which made grocery shopping a breeze. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!!

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was very nice and cozy. It was like home away from home except with a few extras (an indoor hot tub, river access, etc...). We really enjoyed the cleanliness of the cabin. The hot tub was very clean and kept up. It was very relaxing...especially when we had the music playing over the speakers that are located all around the house and over the hot tub. I wish we were able to stay longer and to enjoy the cabin more. It's definitely a place we will love to visit again.

Lots of home owned pottery galleries, churches nearby if you care to go on Sunday, day trip to Grandfather Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad for little ones, waterfalls close by to hike to and a horse ranch which sometimes (when not full) will allow you to take trail rides with a guide. I found a link for bike routes, but you would need to bring your own bikes...
