*Welcome to the Antler's Cottage*
**Your ticket to waterfront heaven!**
This is it! Right off of golden pond! This cozy, lodge theme cabin is located in the most desirable development and on one of the finest waterfront properties Lake Cushman has to offer, it is truly in an idyllic setting.
This squeaky clean hide-a-way is dripping with charm and has all the modern amenities but still retains the flavor of that bygone era. The well stocked kitchen has just been upgraded with new appliances and other features. The living room has a double pull out sofa and cozy fireplace for that special evening. There are lake and mountain views from the kitchen, living room and front deck which includes a propane barbecue and table for those savory sunset dinners!
There are three bedrooms. The master has a king size bed; the two smaller bedrooms each have a twin.
It gets better! The water is mere steps away. This is premium, no bank waterfront. Your own PRIVATE beach, dock and firepit on water's edge. This is a gravel, gradual beach for great swimming and wading. The float is great for mooring your watercraft or just sunbathing. Hop in the canoe for a shoreline excursion to the local park or waterfall; you can even launch a small boat from this property. The views from the dock are majestic. Mountains, forests and crystal clear water. In the mountain night sky the moon and stars dance overhead!
The recreation opportunites at your doorstep are amazing. Olympic National Park, Staircase, Mt. Rose and Mt. Ellinor. Hiking, fishing, golfing, boating.
Your host is the author of 'The Early Settlement of Lake Cushman'. The book is there for you to read, along with dozens of rare, circa 1900 framed historic photographs showcasing the grand era of the lake adorning the cabin walls and beckoning you back to a simpler time. Time seems to stand still here, so tranquil and serene. Experience beautiful Lake Cushman, both past and present. Step out of the rat race and step back in time.
-- We cherish our cabin -- You will too!! -- --New for fall 2014 - ductless heat pump and a/c unit installed for your comfort and convenience--
Hand crafted by Carol's father in 1968 we are second generation owners. We love everything about Lake Cushman. Larry is the author of the 'Early Settlement of Lake Cushman' published in 1974 by Mason County Historical Society. We have left a copy of the book for your enjoyment, there are many photographs displayed from the book throughout the cabin. Step back in time to the early history of Lake Cushman while you enjoy your stay.
Larry Overland purchased this cottage in 1968
This cabin has very special meaning to us as this is where we first met and 43 years later we would like to share this little slice of heaven with you.
You are transformed into another world when you visit Lake Cushman. It is a private members only community but you got the invitation! You will find that it is tranquil, peaceful, beautiful and full of actives for every age group no matter what time of year.
My wife and I come to Lake Cushman A LOT! In the winter, it's quiet (which is what we were going for) and in the summer it's recreation paradise. First, the owners (Larry) is super nice and very easy to work with, and is very knowledgeable of the area. Me being a fan of the area and history in general found this great, as Larry has a history book on the Lake/Hoodsport area. If you rent in the winter, you're going to have more time to enjoy the cabin, which is decked-out in historical pics and rustic lodge themed items. We hung out, drank wine, played board games while listening to the radio. We drank Coffee on the dock in the morning; it doesn't get any better for a winter getaway. Hoodsport wine company has some great stuff; check them out as well! For the summer, you're going to swim (the cottage is lakefront) and probably hike (there are several great day hikes; Copper Creek, Mt. Rose trail, staircase loop, Wagonwheel Lake), and Staircase itself is a great portal to the Olympics interior. The division is private, so you won't be dealing with rowdies in the summer. You cannot go wrong with renting the Antlers Cottage! Thank you Larry!
We have stayed at the Antler's Cottage a number of times, and are in the process of booking it for Thanksgiving weekend. Lake Cushman is absolutely beautiful, and so is this cottage. It's comfortable, cozy and clean, and is well stocked with anything you might need while there. It has an amazing view of Lake Cushman, and is located close to numerous hiking opportunities including Staircase (which is one of the more popular hikes in the area).
The owner's of this place are great folks - I've talked with Larry who is super friendly and incredibly helpful. :-)
What else can I say? It's really the perfect place for family fun or a romantic getaway. And the price just simply can't be beat. Thanks Larry for sharing your place with us!
We were back at Antlers Cottage for our second year, and this is also the third property we've rented at Lake Cushman. It's also the nicest! Right on the lake! Yes, we love Lake Cushman.
We were lucky to have five days of beautiful, sunny weather and enjoyed everything the cottage has to offer.Swimming, boating, and relaxation. Very nicely maintained, with everything you might need for a memorable getaway lake experience. We'll be back!
We stayed 4 nights in the middle of July just expecting beautiful weather. Well that didn't happen for us. It just happened to be a very cloudy and a bit rain with only one day getting into the 70's. It didn't matter because this place is such a fun place to stay right on the water and the views are what we all long for. This cabin is very well maintained and it is an extra bonus that they allow you to use their canoe. We were in heaven canoeing, paddle boarding and boating away. We really appreciated that the owners checked in to make sure everything was good, they are the nicest people to work with. Can't wait to go back!!!
We were expecting a more "funky" lake cabin experience but were pleasantly surprised with how well decorated and tidy this place was. The two single bedrooms are like cozy little boat cabins, and the main b-room has a king bed. Lots of cabin "kitsch" throughout, but surprisingly well done and really fits the atmosphere.
Here's some observations for prospective renters:
No TV, barely any radio reception, no phone reception (you can wander around and maybe get 3G), no Wi-Fi. There is 4G reception down by the dam.
The kitchen is nicely outfitted with pots and pans and all the implements you might need. The silverware supply was a little thin. Crappy knives (like all vacation rentals). Oven/stovetop is retro circa 1968, but all works. The fridge froze our veggies, so watch out for this. The BBQ is good.
The outdoor furniture is tired. There are no chaise-lounge type lawn chairs, so you might want to bring your own.
Boating: We secured our boat (21') to the end of the floating dock, which worked pretty well. Warning - between weekend recreational boaters and occasional squalls your boat will rock and roll at times, so you should bring adequate fenders. We had 4 and no problems. It is possible a storm will create 2 ft waves which could damage your boat regardless. We had the good fortune (?) of being away from the dock when a bad one hit and found refuge across the bay behind the log boom and dock at the park. There are other better coves to hide in and it looks like most wind attacks don't last more than a couple hours. Apparently there IS a gas dock on the lake, although we never saw it. The launch ramp closest to the cabin is gravel but perfectly usable. Our boat + trailer is 4500 lb and we had no problems. At the cabin, there is a parallel driveway off the road where you can park your trailer, and a wide paved side road 1/2 block away for easy turning around.
"Most" of the underwater hazards are marked with buoys, but at the upper lake watch out for stumps and shallow areas.
This is pretty much a classic lake cabin experience in a much-loved place. Great for couples or families. In our opinion Lake Cushman is one of the best swimming lakes around - momentarily bracing, but clear and refreshing. Enjoy!
My family and I had a wonderful vacation. The cabin was so cozy and offered all amenities needed for a comfortable 6 day stay. The cabin has a lot of interesting historical information in it about Lake Cushman which was a rare treat. The lake access was awesome! Provided great swimming for the kids (and adults :~D). Near by hikes, waterfalls and HUGE rock cliff jump was great! I highly recommend you stay in this cabin but book quickly cause the time goes fast!
