About The Nguyen Family

We are a family of four. This spot is one of our favorite vacation places because when we are here, we are united and nothing interferes with that good old-fashioned family togetherness.

The Nguyen Family purchased this cabin in 2002

Why The Nguyen Family chose Blue Ridge Mountains

When we first saw this cabin and its surroundings we were stunned by the beauty and magnificence there. It looked like something you would only see in a painting. It is truly a hidden paradise that we have found.

What makes this cabin unique

The energetic river is very soothing to gaze at and to listen to. The motion of the river seems to relax the mind, body, and soul. Truly a unique part of staying at our cabin.

We had a most fabulous week! the kids enjoyed throwing rocks into the creek - we even caught a few fish using the hook and corn. It was so wonderful being able to walk down and see the waterfalls any time of day. So beautiful and peaceful - very relaxing.

We experienced so much wildlife: Butterflies, a huge caterpiller, bats, black snake, fish, crawfish, salamanders, frogs, deer, etc . . . picking blueberries down the road was a real highlight and eating the blueberry cobbler was even better! It was a wonderful vacation. Your cabin was just exactly what we wanted. Thank You!

Great cabin

  • 4 of 5

I wanted to say the cabin was great. beautiful setting on the creek with the waterfall. It had everything we needed. The beds were not very comfortable but we read that in the reviews earlier and a bug bomb to kill all the spiders would have made for a better stay. We started naming all the spiders in the cabin by their location (John in the bathroom). I understand we were in the mountains but we have spider bits all over our bodies and it caused us to end our stay a day early, no one wanted to stay the whole week. Directv was out and we were told it was getting fixed the following Week. everything else was just as we pictured it would be. Better beds and fewer spiders and I would stay there again. The property manager was very nice, we needed a couple things (Propane) and he was right there to help.

Great getaway

  • 5 of 5

Great mountain getaway off the beaten path. Definitely recommend for anyone looking to disconnect for a few days and get in touch with nature. Blue Ridge Parkway was close and a beautiful drive. Boone close and wonderful town.

Worse than presented in pics and dirty

  • 2 of 5

We rent cabins all the time for vacation and this is the first one we will not be returning too. The setting is nice with the river and small falls right outside the cabin. A little brush clearance along the property would have made it more accessible and easier to enjoy. The cabin was ok when we checked in. However we noticed there was sawdust near and on the dining room table. It looked like termite sawdust. We cleaned it off prior to eating dinner, and when I went to put.plates down there was more sawdust there, about an hour later. I went to call Brent the caretaker, however the house phones didn't work, and there was no reception. We pulled the table out from the wall and away from from the sawdust and bug drop zone and ate. After dinner we sat down and noticed mouse droppings in the corners behind the couches. Yes I know it's the mountains. Just not well cleaned. We turned on the ceiling fans. And dust started flying everywhere. The ceiling g fans were dirty as we're the beams they were mounted over.

Making the beds the pillows downstairs were stained very yellow. I hope it was from a water leak in the closet. By now I was feeling like we were staying a run down motel that had seen better days. The next day I reached Brent while we were out and had reception and he said he would put out some more most bait and maybe there were borer beetles. That was that. Oh yeah there were mouse droppings around the bed in the Master downstairs. Anyway when we got back and we're ready to cook dinner I went to get a baking sheet out and the pan drawer below the oven was full of mouse droppings as we're the pans and the utility drawer including on top of some of the knives we had used washed and.put away the night before so there was an active mouse issue. We decided to drive and spend the money to go out and eat which was an extra 45 minutes of driving and extra cost for dinner. We made bagels for breakfast the next morning and ended up going out to eat for dinner again as none of us wanted to eat there. The whole thing could have been cleaner and we would have been fine. We did pay for the cleaning so I hope the next guests have a better experience. I did have pictures but there is no way to post them. The owners communicated very well and quickly we're great with that.

We've rented this property for a little Easter weekend getaway. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin had everything you'd need and if it doesn't Brent, the property manager, will do his best to arrange it! Very nice guy to deal with and answers calls right away. The waterfall, was out favorite part, beautiful! Will come back again.

Beautiful cabin, great quite, private location.

  • 5 of 5

Road is a little tricky but we did it in car without difficulty. Absolutely relaxing time. Recommend it to anyone wanting to get away from it all. Cabin is amazing. Recommend take your own towels, pillows and sheets, will make checking out easier- won't have to do laundry before you leave.

We plan to go back again. Owners were wonderful about us forgetting what day we were checking out, we stayed extra night without realizing it. Sorry again. We don't have cell service there and didn't get calls.

Fantastic location!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our visit to the cabin. The kids and dogs were in river all day long. Water shoes are a must. The cabin had everything we needed. We shopped at Food Lion on the first day, and never left again. We stayed 4 nights. The 2 bedrooms upstairs are lofts without a fourth wall. It worked fine with us, but not very private. We will be back to stay. Perfect place to enjoy the outdoors with family!
