About Steven Kuehl
Being an avid fisherman all my life, it was my dream to live in rual Montana. I appreciate the fresh air and the peace that living in a remote location brings.
Steven Kuehl purchased this House in 1986
Why Steven Kuehl chose Columbia Falls
I chose this house to raise my two children. It was one of the first in the area with running water and indoor plumbing. I wanted them to grow up using their imagination. They would climb trees and dance in the rain as children.
What makes this House unique
The view from the porch was the most striking feature. It was a beautiful place to come home to and relax by the fire after a work day. The level of creativity that comes from nature is breath taking.

A nice stay
A very comfortable and clean house. Kitchen is well stocked . Loved the beautiful secluded forest setting .Our family enjoyed the 2 living room areas ( one upstairs and one downstairs). Plenty of room for our party of 6 . Got there after dark so we had a little trouble locating the house with the phone GPS but no problem the next day . Owners had several signs along the path once you go LEFT at Talon Trail. The flower pots by the sign and front entrance are a nice touch. Will the caretaker replaced the Router before we came so Internet connection was not a problem. TV reception was poor . We enjoyed short hikes, river rafting, renting Mopeds for the kids, visiting Polebridge, Hungry Horse Dam , etc .....Uptown Hearth a nice breakfast place in Columbia Falls. We plan to return another time to visit Glacier Park since only part of the Road to the Sun was open this time due to fire . Would stay here again.
The views and the location were awesome. However there is basically no internet or tv to speak of.
My apologies for the lack of TV and internet during your stay. The modem needs to be reset occasionally, and the TV antenna requires adjustment as well. I would have gladly fixed the problem to the best of my abilities, had you let me know. I hope you enjoyed your stay otherwise, and had a safe trip home.
Awesome place, awesome owner
When we arrived Steve greeted us and sat down to chat with us. He explained the layout and was there if we needed anything. The cabin location is a off of a dirt road but it's a short drive. The property was secluded which was what we were looking for and has a great view of glacier. Make sure you stop by Glacier distillery. We had a great time at the cabin and at glacier park. Had good times chatting with Steve too. Great place to stay, highly recommend it.
Fantastic Cabin and Host
Everything from the initial communication to the stay at the cabin was perfect. Steve was an amazing host and made sure we were happy and well taken care of during our stay at his cabin. It has everything you could need, a great porch and view for relaxing, and easy access to West Glacier. I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone who is thinking about staying near West Glacier and is looking for an easy, spacious, and comfortable cabin to stay in. Thanks again, Steve. We hope to see you again soon.
Great location near West Glacier Park entrance
We truly enjoyed our stay in Steve's home. He was very kind and helpful. My husband and I were staying with our 2 college age kids. There were 4 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths. There was a laundry room in the down stairs bathroom that was very handy. After hiking 12 miles in glacier, 2 days in a row, we really needed to wash our filthy clothes. The house was clean and comfortable, and had good wifi and netflix which made the kids happy. I enjoyed watching the sunrise from the side deck. The area is nice and quiet, so you can sleep with the windows open if the weather permits. I would recommend and would stay here again if we are ever in the area.
Quiet retreat for groups of all ages, pet friendly (with owner OK), close to park, amenities
Two levels worked out great for having some group separation while evening fire and large yard were fantastic for "together" time. Owner and family always available for questions, info on area and to help with any needs. Porch overlooking park/mountains was a great place to gather to grill, watch for wildlife and check out the stars. Quiet and relaxing after a day of hiking in the park. Would definitely go back !!!! Thanks Steve and family for helping to provide a vacation base that everyone will remember for years to come :-)
