Overview

About the property

3 bedroom Riverfront Cottage on Russian River - Close to Everything!

Relax among the redwoods in your riverfront cottage with brick paver patio, large deck with hot tub and outdoor shower, and dock with three kayaks. You are surrounded with lots of mature landscaping, flowers, majestic redwoods & fruit trees striking the perfect balance of sun and shade.

In the winter months, curl up with a good book near the fire in the wood stove while you wait for the rain to pass. On a sunny day, go for a bike ride across the foot bridge to Guerneville for an ice cream cone. In the afternoon, plan a visit to some local wineries using the many books and maps available. On another day, go for a hike in the redwoods at Armstrong Park or marvel at the waves at the Pacific coastline at Goat Rock or Shell Beach. At the end of the day, breathe deeply and relax in the hot tub under the moon and the stars. Then roast some marshmallows while sitting by the outdoor fire pit.

The first thing you'll notice when you enter the house are the beautiful wide-plank wood floors and the view from the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the river and trees creating a peaceful zen-like atmosphere.

The upstairs has two spacious bedrooms with Queen beds and new fluffy comforters. Both bedrooms have lots of windows and one has a deck overlooking the river--perfect for your morning coffee. There is a small bedroom downstairs with Twin bunk beds.

The main living areas are downstairs with an open floor plan. The living room has floor-to-ceiling windows on one end and a wood-burning stove on the other end. There is an adjoining dining room with space for eight people. The dining room opens out onto the brick paver patio with lovely views of the river.

The kitchen is well-stocked with all the essentials and more (cookware, coffee, tea, spices, olive oil, etc.), stainless steel refrigerator, smooth-top electric range, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker & grinder, blender and toaster oven. There is an adjoining breakfast nook with pub table seating for four.

The bathroom is located downstairs and has a large vanity area and shower. It is well stocked with plenty of bath and beach towels plus a hair dryer. We have recently added a private outdoor shower on the side deck near the hot tub. All the bedrooms have full length mirrors and outlets to make it easier for everyone to get ready at the same time.

The patio is equipped with a propane BBQ grill, table and seating for eight, and porch swing for two. The adjoining deck has additional seating, hot tub for up to 5 people, and an outdoor shower. There are stairs off the deck down to the dock where the kayaks (two single and one double) are tied up in the summer. The kayaks can be launched from our property or transported to other access points along the river when our dock is not available.

Located in the heart of the Sonoma wine country, on the Russian River, this home is the perfect location to visit the many local wineries, go for a swim, kayak, explore the coast, hike in the redwoods, bike or just relax and do nothing but enjoy the river and watch the local wildlife.

Modern comforts include High Speed Wi-Fi and HD Flat Screen TV with full cable, DVD player, plus ipod/iphone ready stereo. There are also lots of books and games available.

Nearby areas of interest include the world renowned Russian River and Dry Creek Wine regions (20 min), Armstrong State Park for hiking in the redwoods (10 min), Sonoma coastal ocean beaches and hiking (25 min), and restaurants, shopping, antiques, fishing, hiking, biking, tennis, golf (Northwoods 10 minutes away) and miniature golf (5 minutes).

About Suzi Krebs and David Crum

We are originally from the midwest (Suzi from Michigan and David from Pennsylvania) and now live in the San Francisco bay area. We wanted to find a place to unwind from the hectic city life but not be too far away. We feel blessed to have found the perfect place to relax only one and a half hours away from San Francisco.

Suzi Krebs and David Crum purchased this house in 2012

Why Suzi Krebs and David Crum chose Russian River

We have always enjoyed the wine country and chose this house because of its charm and location right on the river. We like to take the kayaks out and watch the local wildlife up close and personal. We also like to hike at the ocean and wanted to be near enough to get there easily and return quickly to the warm sunshine of Guerneville if the coast was foggy.

What makes this house unique

The views, the redwoods and being right on the river sold us. We like the quiet neighborhood and its proximity to lots of wineries, great hiking & biking! We enjoy the quaint little town of Guerneville with its many restaurants, 5 & 10 store, flea market, and ice cream shops.

Perfect getaway for adventurists, anniversaries, romance, wine touring, relaxation, and foodies.

Our stay at Zin and Zen was incredible! The pictures for this property do not do it justice! The view from the hot tub is tucked next to a redwood while looking out over the Russian River with a backdrop of evergreens that reach up to the sky. The deck is spacious supplied with a grill and dining table located under a shaded arbor. The kayaks are great for using on the river as well. David and Suzi thought of everything in the kitchen, and they even have spices, oils, coffee, and additional condiments, so don't shop until you take stock of the kitchen supplies. After full days of wine touring, ocean exploring, hiking in the woods, air ballooning (Healdsburg is the way to go), Zin and Zen is a perfect place to return to unwind. We used the hot tub every day as well as the awesome outdoor shower. To give readers an idea, my wife and I (from Michigan), were considering places to renew our vows. Our children (21, 22, 24), and we decided the dock preferable over Armstrong Woods, the Ocean, and even an outdoor chapel in Sea Ranch. The views are stunning from the dock! David and Suzi are extremely easy and friendly to work with, always willing to answer any questions, fix any problems, and give helpful suggestions when asked.

Peaceful, clean and cozy getaway house on the river

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay! Everything was available as advertised! House was clean and well-stocked. We loved access to the river, kayaks and the fire pit. Jacuzzi spa with massage settings was an awesome addition to our restful vacation experience. The entire stay was very peaceful. We were originally concerned with a potential heat wave, however just like the owner explained, it was breezy and nice even on warm days as the house is right on the river with lots of trees and there are many fans throughout the house. Thank you, Suzi and David for giving us this wonderful experience.

Cozy, comfortable and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed every minute of our family vacation. It was a very relaxing home and it had everything we needed and then some. We loved the location too. We went out to the ocean every day. We would love to come back in the summer sometime to use the kayaks and play in the river.

Beautiful spot

  • 5 of 5

House was beautiful with lovely view! Hot tub was perfect after a long day of wine tasting. Location was more remote than I was expecting so just keep in mind when planning out transportation, meals etc.
