Family-Friendly Ranch With Four Historic Structures

Bedrooms 4
Space 1,200 sq. ft.
Property type farmhouse
Minimum Stay 1 - 2 nights

About the property

3 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Bunkhouse with Mountain Views

Your mountain home is one of the oldest properties in the area, with unique historic structures. A large barn, a large antique machine shop, two furnished antique cabins, a windmill and some old hidden homesteads in the nearby forest make this property a delight. The house where you'll stay was built in the 1950s and has cozy, modern amenities. The bunkhouse is great for children and useful as another large bedroom.

About Lydia Reynolds

Hi! I'm David Reynolds. I grew up and still live in Canon City, where I have a commercial construction business that my father begun in 1962 and my son is now taking over. We've always been mountain men, hunters, ATV and motorcycle riders, as well as mountain and rock climbers. We are excited to provide the Colorado mountain experience you seek.

Lydia Reynolds purchased this farmhouse in 2000

Why Lydia Reynolds chose South Central

We traded property with the BLM for this historic ranch to protect and preserve this important piece of history. The land still turns up old pottery, arrowheads, and other artifacts which we display in the buildings as well as in the main house where you'll be sleeping.

What makes this farmhouse unique

You can enter and explore most of the old historic buildings. Climbing up Mt Baldy, Hammond Peak or Black Mountain on an ATV, a horse or on your own two feet is a worthwhile adventure. Snowshoeing, cross country skiing or hiking any of the trails off the property is also rewarding. Hunters enjoy all the open BLM land and the ample wildlife.

Great getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We rent cabins in CO twice a year & are so glad we stayed at 31 Mile Ranch. This cabin was a more rustic experience for me but it turned out great. There is wifi at the cabin & it appears they have Dish for tv but we never turned it on. I feel that if you need to watch tv at this ranch it's because there is a rain/snowstorm. There are too many things to explore & places to hike. Make sure to check out the stars - I think it was my first time to see the Milky Way in person.

Our cell phones worked (Verizon). The fridge appears to be brand new & the extra dining table was removed. It did remind me of visiting Grandpa's cabin but that made it so special!

I'm grateful the owners have allowed us to visit their property. Make sure to read the green folder that has the history of the cabin. We spent so much time wandering the historic buildings & thinking about their history.

Mountain Escape

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was great. Everyone in our group visiting from Denver really enjoyed it. You have a mountain right out the front door to hike. Looking forward to making this an annual trip. Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing mountain stay.

Super unique property surrounded by beauty

  • 5 of 5

After a small hiccup with the check in, which Lydia was helpful in getting resolved, we spent four beautiful nights at this property. We were a large group of friends and made use of all the beds. It was cold in the bunker but Lydia gave us a heads up that it could be and we brought plenty of warm clothes and bedding to work with. It it on a huge piece of land and you get so much peace and quiet. And you can feel the history of the land - including in the older, original buildings which are on the property. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and we cooked some lovely meals and spent quality time around the fire. Thank you Lydia! We'll be back!

Vacation Perfection...Again

  • 5 of 5

We have decided that this will be an annual trip...this home away from home. We stayed here this time last year and once again, it was perfect. The colors were spectacular, the weather was lovely (even the rain storms that came through each afternoon). There are SO many places to explore, both on the property and surrounding areas. The only thing that would make this place even better??? Having a horse to ride! I wish I had one!

Thank you, Lydia, again for this oasis. We are considering coming back for Thanksgiving but if that doesn't work out, count on us for September of 2017!
