About james white

I grew up on the Monterey Peninsula and always wanted to share my amazing childhood memories with my family. Now as an adult, visiting has become so much more. This beach house is our escape from the city and connection to nature.

james white purchased this bungalow in 2002

Why james white chose Central Coast

We love the untouched, historical nature of Pacific Grove. But truly the seaside location was key for us... We explore the tide pools looking for interesting creatures, jog along the shoreline trail and, well, everyone from this area has a least one family member who plays golf! Shopping for antiques and eating somewhere interesting are also factored into the day.

What makes this bungalow unique

There is always something to do on the Peninsula

We had a wonderful 4 days in this wonderful property. Nothing was forgotten in providing for the comfort and convenience of the visitors and the view is a lovely bonus. Walking distance to Monterrey and Asilomar Beach and close to the center of town.

Perfect spot for a family!

  • 5 of 5

This was the second time we stayed in this house. The location couldn't be much better. We were close enough to the ocean that I could hit it with a rock and hear the waves breaking at night. If you surf, which I do, there is a great wave right in front of the house (Lover's Point) that's a left hand point. It breaks on a bigger swell. Easy paddle out with seals and otters all around you. When the swell dropped, we went to Asilomar Beach (beautiful white sands and really clear water) and surfed there. My 7 and 9 year old got in with me at both breaks.

The house came stocked with a 6 pack of Sierra Nevada and coffee! The size of the house was perfect for a family. My kids had their own room as did my wife and I. We walked to the beach, rode bikes to the aquarium and butterfly sanctuary, and barely drove the car at all. The fireplace wasn't working so I called the owner and it was a simple fix (swap batteries in the remote) that was handled over the phone. The house was clean and tidy when we got there. We searched and searched for a wine opener, but couldn't find one. We ended up getting one from across the street and left it there. I think that was the only thing missing from the fully stocked kitchen! We love this location and will be back for sure!

Fantastic house!

  • 5 of 5

We were in town for the Big Sur half marathon and chose to rent a house versus stay in a hotel near the race. The house was immaculate and quite comfortable. Nice quiet neighborhood. We could also walk to several great restaurants and coffee places just blocks away. Definitely would return for a future visit!

Great location and charming bungalow! You can easily walk to the aquarium, cannery row, shops and eateries. There was only one day we weren't able to park right in front of the house, but there is a driveway for smaller cars. The ocean view from the front room is amazing and we were very comfortable in the house. The tub/shower would be problematic for someone who couldn't step up or out easily. The bed was comfy and kitchen was well equipped. Definitely a wonderful place to stay!

Wonderful stay. Adorable home elegantly furnished.

Great house--very clean and we were provided with everything we needed in the way of towels, toiletries and kitchen items. All the kitchen equipment was top of the line. The house is quite cozy--nice ambience with instant fireplace and fabulous view. It was also quite soundproof. It''s perfect for a couple or small family. Otherwise it's a little difficult as you have to walk through the master bedroom to get to the bathroom and the tv is in the guest bedroom, not the living room. Perfect location--walk right into PG and can also hop onto the Monterey walking trail along the water. The host was available by phone and text and everything was easy to figure out and we didn't have to do any cleanup and deposit was promptly refunded. We had a great time. Thanks.

Charming house, exceptional location.

  • 5 of 5

Very charming house on quiet street with ocean view from dining table. House is larger inside than it appears from the outside. Cozy gas heat with floor vents throughout the house warmed things up quickly on cool nights. Large master bedroom, comfortable bed, dresser with empty drawers, and empty walk-in closet. Totally private enclosed rear garden and deck with flowers and hummingbirds. Exceptional location, close to everything. Situated only 50 yards from the flat, paved recreational trail for cycling and walking along the ocean. We used the trail every day, walked to the Monterey Bay Aquarium in 15 minutes. Cycled to Cypress Point on beautiful 17 Mile Drive along the ocean, saw dozens of yelping sea lions and hundreds of cormorants at Bird Rock. House is just 100 yards from sheltered sandy beach and bicycle rental at Adventures by the Sea. 150 yards to Beach House Restaurant at Lover's Point. Walked past the point another 150 yards and saw 17 seals basking on rocks near the shore. Five minute uphill walk from house to very pretty downtown Pacific Grove (locals say "PG"): groceries at Grove Market, pharmacy, library, cinema, restaurants, bookstore. Unlike Monterey, this is *not* a tired, tacky or touristy town at all. You'll be interacting with happy, friendly PG locals. Just an easy 15-minute drive to Carmel by the Sea and its spectacular mile-long sandy beach. Owner James was quick and responsive answering a couple of questions by text message. We left the house after ten days wishing we could live there.
