We are native to the Pacific Northwest and mountains to us have snow on them all year round! However, we were relocated to Georgia about eight years ago and fell in love with the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains for different reasons than why we love those rugged peaks back home. We began going to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and NW Georgia every year in the fall as a tradition with our kids. There is nothing like how the air smells or how the sky and mountains look on a sunny, crisp fall day! If you don't know, you soon will why they are called the 'Smoky' and 'Blue' Ridge Mountains.
We wanted a cabin that we could get away to with our family as much as possible - that took us away from it all; schedules, the 'norm'... and got us out enjoying the blessings of life and one another. Blue Ridge is a beautiful place for our family to do that and to dip our feet from time to time in the Waters of Serenity.
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay in Blue Ridge. The weather was rainy and cold, but inside the cabin was warm and cozy. We had everything we needed to cook our own meals. All of the bedrooms were furnished with extras that made the cabin feel like home. The master suite is gorgeous. The location was convenient to downtown Blue Ridge, Mercier's, and trail heads. We would definitely recommend to friends and family. Maybe we will be able to visit again.
We had a wonderful time in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and it was all because of our accommodations. Our cabin met our expectations, and then some. When we arrived, we had some small issues that were quickly resolved by the property owner and property manager. We spent five days in Blue Ridge, and most of the time was spent in the cabin. It was cozy and comfortable and roomy enough for two families and two separate grandmothers! We were not falling all over each other, and we had plenty of space to be by ourselves if we wanted time alone. We cooked full meals in the kitchen, which had everything we needed - we even cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner and it was a great success! We were not able to use the outdoor fire pit because of a burn ban, but we more than made up for it with a fire in the fireplace every day. The view of the lake from the cabin is gorgeous, and it is extremely peaceful - no street noise, not a sound. Don't forget to look up in the sky at night - there are a million stars! The road up to the cabin is steep and winding and one lane at points, so make sure you have a car that can handle it. There are hiking trails nearby, and town is not far away if you need to stock up. Downtown Blue Ridge is close by, and they have lots of fun shops to explore. The cabin's furnishings are very nice, and the bedding is warm and plentiful. The downstairs rooms are a bit chilly, and it would be nice to have a few space heaters down there to take away the chill. And the clothes dryer had a hard time drying our clothes (could be the altitude, could just be the dryer vent needed cleaning). My sister stayed at a cabin just a few doors down a couple of years ago, and she said our cabin was much nicer. Overall, we had a wonderful time at Waters of Serenity and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a mountain getaway.
The house was very welcoming and had everything we needed for it to feel like home for the weekend.
We had a wonderful time in Blue Ridge and really enjoyed the cabin. Waters of Serenity was well-maintained, clean and surrounded by beautiful views. Everyone in our group was very pleased with this rental, we can't wait to go back!
My husband and I reserved the cabin for just the two of us. While it was far more space than we needed for two, this place offered just the right comfort and charm to not lose the essence of being at a cabin in the mountains. The pictures of the interior and exterior truly serve justice to how nice the cabin is appointed and the incredible views. The Christmas decor was just right; not overdone and accented the beauty of the cabin and even some lights outside too. It is clear the housekeeper takes considerable pride in providing a high level of service as well. I have stayed many places and this place seems lovingly cared for by the housekeeper and owner in the level details I experienced. The owner was great to work with - very helpful and kind with answering my many questions and very responsive in getting back to me.
While the house can accommodate large groups it was very easy to be comfortable and for the two of us to feel at home on just the cabins main floor. Would definitely come again and plan a family get-together for that trip!
The cabin is beautiful! Perfect location. Very spacious and perfect size. The best past has to be the Master suite. Defiantly would love to visit again during the summer and would also recommend this property to anyone thinking of a great mountain getaway!!
Blue Ridge and the Aska Adventure area have so many amazing attractions. A small to larger scale adventure - you decide. There really is something for everyone!
The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway is a fantastic choice for families. You are able to take in the beauty of the Mountains without the confines of the car! During different seasons the train operates theme schedules; such as Santa on board at Christmas. The area hiking trails out Aska Road are another amazing way to take in the nature that surrounds Blue Ridge as well - again long or short, difficult or moderate trails. You decide what you may want. One of our favorites is the Suspension Bridge Trail. Of course we love the lake as well. Maybe rent a kayak or boat and adventure out on to the water. You won't regret it! No matter what you may decide, you can return for a nice soak in the hot tub and relax away the day in the luxury of 'Waters of Serenity' cabin and all it has to offer!
Here is a brief list of some other favorite area activities and eateries:
Tubing on Toccoa River
Hiking (any of the trails off Aska Road)
Swan Drive-in Theatre (teenagers really love it)
Shops of Blue Ridge
Toccoa River Restaurant (highly recommend)
Mercier Orchards - store and restaurant
