About Owner

We are native to the Pacific Northwest and mountains to us have snow on them all year round! However, we were relocated to Georgia about eight years ago and fell in love with the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains for different reasons than why we love those rugged peaks back home. We began going to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and NW Georgia every year in the fall as a tradition with our kids. There is nothing like how the air smells or how the sky and mountains look on a sunny, crisp fall day! If you don't know, you soon will why they are called the 'Smoky' and 'Blue' Ridge Mountains.

Why Owner chose Blue Ridge

We wanted a cabin that we could get away to with our family as much as possible - that took us away from it all; schedules, the 'norm'... and got us out enjoying the blessings of life and one another. Blue Ridge is a beautiful place for our family to do that and to dip our feet from time to time in the Waters of Serenity.

Beautiful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family (4 of us) recently spent an extended weekend here to unplug and enjoy some down time. The cabin is absolutely gorgeous and well accommodated, and offers incredible views! It was way more space than we needed, but we enjoyed the extra room to spread out and the basement is a great place for teenagers to hang out and have some personal space. We enjoyed the hot tub and pool table, and as others have mentioned the cabin isn't completely secluded as it's in a neighborhood but at no time during our stay did we feel less than secluded. This actually works out to your benefit as well, as the grocery store is a short trip away as are a couple of trail heads to go hiking. It's also a fairly short drive (<15 min) to downtown for restaurants and shopping.

Robyn was very responsive during the stay for the couple of questions we had (minor things), and I've already provided 2 references for this place in the last week for friends/family. The next time we stay in Blue Ridge we will absolutely be back!

First time doing anything like this...all my sisters and their families, 10 of us! Many different needs, needed the 5 bedrooms, having 2 on the man floor helped with special needs for 2 sisters! Kitchen was big enough to do some great cooking. Wrap around decks was perfect for additional space and the beautiful view. The house felt like a home for us. Thank you!

Good stay in the mountains

  • 3 of 5

There are no half stars but this is a 3.5 star review!

My friends from college and I chose to stay at Necowa Cove for your 9th annual cabin/mountain getaway. We ALWAYS have a great time in mixed company and this year was no different.

This cabin wasn't our first choice but we waited a bit longer than normal to secure something so it's what we came up within our usual price range. Speaking of price, we're used to getting a bit more cabin for the price range. Not only more size but more updated as well. The master bedroom is gorgeous and appears to be the only thing updated about this cabin.

Living Room/TV's:

The living room is a nice size and shares a space with the dining table, which is perfectly fine. Plenty of seating for a large group. You can read in other reviews that the TV in this room is small because the family who owns the cabin likes to spend quiet family time communing with each other in this room. That's fine and well and have the right to do whatever they'd like with their vacation home. However, patrons paying money to stay here seem to prefer watching tv while they vacation. Even if not much, they'd like to be able to see the tv they are watching. A HUGE part of the activities for the weekend we stayed here was watching NFC and AFC championship football games sooo.... yeah. There is a larger tv downstairs in the basement, but there's only a daybed for seating AND that tv isn't even hooked to cable/satellite, just a dvd player. Thus leaving the only decent sized tv with cable/satellite in the master bedroom.

All the bedrooms outside of the beautiful master were fine. My wife and I stayed in the basement room (happened to not be a cold weekend and we didnt see any scorpions). It was fine. The bathroom down here however, has a low, tile ceiling and while showering... the steam and heat allows you to smell the tile and it's a bit unsettling. Just really damp, moist, not quite moldy but not quite pleasant smelling.

The pool table is in a concrete room in the basement, all by itself. Nothing else in that room except a fridge. If you're looking for a basement that has some room to stretch out and serve as a second living room downstairs for a different environment, this one isn't it. Just the pool table room, daybed with cable-less tv room, bedroom and damp bathroom.

I'm calling it a 3.5 star review because the hostess was very pleasant and responsive wit communications leading up to and during the weekend.

Owner's Response: We have hosted hundreds of nights of guest stays. Of all the comments we've received in 4 years, this is the first for the critiques made here. I am sorry to hear the difficulties had watching the game on the TV downstairs - it does get Dish reception and there is seating in the lounge room besides the seating that converts to the twin beds. The guest spoke to me at length about the TVs prior to their game weekend stay and were aware of our setup. As far as pricing on our cabin it is in line with properties of this size, age, amenities, view and location. In addition, future guests can rest assured that our terrace level is 3/4 finished; the pool table room is the only one that has a partial finish. And the bathroom on this level is a bit dark because there is no window, but it is not damp. The pictures are a true representation of the cabin and it's amenities.

Wonderful Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay in Blue Ridge. The weather was rainy and cold, but inside the cabin was warm and cozy. We had everything we needed to cook our own meals. All of the bedrooms were furnished with extras that made the cabin feel like home. The master suite is gorgeous. The location was convenient to downtown Blue Ridge, Mercier's, and trail heads. We would definitely recommend to friends and family. Maybe we will be able to visit again.

Wonderful Thanksgiving Week in the Mountains

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and it was all because of our accommodations. Our cabin met our expectations, and then some. When we arrived, we had some small issues that were quickly resolved by the property owner and property manager. We spent five days in Blue Ridge, and most of the time was spent in the cabin. It was cozy and comfortable and roomy enough for two families and two separate grandmothers! We were not falling all over each other, and we had plenty of space to be by ourselves if we wanted time alone. We cooked full meals in the kitchen, which had everything we needed - we even cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner and it was a great success! We were not able to use the outdoor fire pit because of a burn ban, but we more than made up for it with a fire in the fireplace every day. The view of the lake from the cabin is gorgeous, and it is extremely peaceful - no street noise, not a sound. Don't forget to look up in the sky at night - there are a million stars! The road up to the cabin is steep and winding and one lane at points, so make sure you have a car that can handle it. There are hiking trails nearby, and town is not far away if you need to stock up. Downtown Blue Ridge is close by, and they have lots of fun shops to explore. The cabin's furnishings are very nice, and the bedding is warm and plentiful. The downstairs rooms are a bit chilly, and it would be nice to have a few space heaters down there to take away the chill. And the clothes dryer had a hard time drying our clothes (could be the altitude, could just be the dryer vent needed cleaning). My sister stayed at a cabin just a few doors down a couple of years ago, and she said our cabin was much nicer. Overall, we had a wonderful time at Waters of Serenity and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a mountain getaway.

Owner's Response: Our Thanksgiving and Christmas guests are in "The Cove" at its a result the well gets worked hard. We have a filtration system on the cabin that helps during heavy times like this and we needed to run the backwash for the guest when they arrived. One of our favorite things about our cabin is filling it with family...each room with it's own deck door allows for the private escape for a walk or just to sit in the quiet in a rocker and take in the view. And yes, the STARS are not to be missed! if you look long enough and deep enough you truly know Heaven. Im so glad you enjoyed some of the many things that we love as well!

Car: recommended

Blue Ridge and the Aska Adventure area have so many amazing attractions. A small to larger scale adventure - you decide. There really is something for everyone!

The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway is a fantastic choice for families. You are able to take in the beauty of the Mountains without the confines of the car! During different seasons the train operates theme schedules; such as Santa on board at Christmas. The area hiking trails out Aska Road are another amazing way to take in the nature that surrounds Blue Ridge as well - again long or short, difficult or moderate trails. You decide what you may want. One of our favorites is the Suspension Bridge Trail. Of course we love the lake as well. Maybe rent a kayak or boat and adventure out on to the water. You won't regret it! No matter what you may decide, you can return for a nice soak in the hot tub and relax away the day in the luxury of 'Waters of Serenity' cabin and all it has to offer!

Here is a brief list of some other favorite area activities and eateries:

Tubing on Toccoa River

Hiking (any of the trails off Aska Road)

Swan Drive-in Theatre (teenagers really love it)

Shops of Blue Ridge

Toccoa River Restaurant (highly recommend)

Mercier Orchards - store and restaurant
