A garden level bedroom was added with French doors opening onto the patio. The house is called "a story-and-a-half", which means, stairs going up and stairs going down. Two bedrooms have a short flight of stairs going up from the main level and two bedrooms have a short flight of stairs going down from the main level. It is four bedrooms, and sleeps eight. Listen to the quarter-hour chimes from Will Rogers "Shrine of the Sun" standing just above the zoo. Minutes away, is the famous five-star Broadmoor Hotel. Stop in and have lunch at the Golden Bee. You will definitely enjoy the beautiful homes and stunning landscapes on the way to the hotel. And of course, you will see deer and other wildlife quietly wondering about.

Easy access to I-25 and Hwy 24. Go west on Hwy 24 to the outstanding Garden of the Gods Park and Visitors Center, with stunning views and incredible hiking trails. Visit the Cave of the Wind and Manitou Springs. Continue west on Hwy 24 and visit the historic gold mining & gaming town of Cripple Creek, Colorado.

About John

Although ownership of a vacation rental home is new to me, I do have over 30 years of property management and grounds maintenance experience and I oversee and manage second and third homes for many of my customers. The last five years I was the destination contact, and specifically managed many aspects of several vacation rental properties in the area.

I am a fifth-generation Colorado native and have lived here in Colorado Springs over 50 years. A majority of my family live in Colorado and a good portion still live in Colorado Springs. I own a grounds maintenance, management and landscape business which is celebrating our 30th year. We care for over 90 of the largest homes in the Broadmoor and surrounding area.

Why John chose Broadmoor

"The Woodburn Bungalows" (The front house and cottage in back) were built in 1924 and the architecture of these turn-of-the century homes had an eye-catching charm and interesting appeal. The property sat in a neglected state for many years. I believe most people who purchase investment property would have leveled the houses, only to build a modern looking site which would have lost the historic feel of the area. For so many years I had been drawn to this property and I thought about purchasing it. Finally, knowing the houses would be challenging, inside and outside, I purchased them in 2014. After 24 months of hands-on restoration, remodeling, purchasing new everything and installing the new landscaping, I listed them for sale. After just a couple of months, I took them off the market and decided to turn them into vacation rentals. The truth be told; I believe I became attached! When you pull in, immediately you are transported back to a different time and the property gives off such a positive, cheerful feeling. When it is quiet at night you can hear Cheyenne Creek and watch the deer and other wildlife wondering about. The house and the cottage each have a quirky charm all of their own.

Very Quaint and Enjoyable Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

I loved the house, and it is located conveniently near the Garden of the Gods and Old Colorado City.

There are two bungalows on the property. If you want a bit more seclusion, I recommend the bungalow in the rear of the property.

The bungalow was built in the 1920s, and it was very interesting to see how the house was built so long ago... a definite plus.

My wife and I have back issues, so the only downside was that we need a bit softer mattress; the four mattresses in the bungalow are very firm.

Amazing home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

My brothers and sister stayed here for a week and loved it. House was wonderfully restored. The owner was great to deal with and very responsive. Easy access to the highway to Manitou Springs, Old Colorado City, Garden of the Gods, and Pikes Peak. Thank you John for helping to make our stay a great experience!

Cozy and Charming

  • 4 of 5

This is quite the charming bungalow. Every square inch is just full of character. Tons of rooms and beds for everyone, great kitchen and precious front porch! Only 5 minutes to quail lake and 2 miles to a great playground. Only draw backs- on busy street and only 1 bathroom. We enjoyed our stay and plan to return!

Great location in Colorado Springs!

  • 5 of 5

The property is just as described. Very Clean with everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. There are closets in the bedrooms, but no dressers. The owner was very responsive to our questions while we were there. Close to the hwy so we could get out and enjoy the Colorado Springs area. Our family of four enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property.

Charming, well kept property

  • 5 of 5

We greatly enjoyed our stay at this property. Despite being on a somewhat busy road, the house is set back from the street and the landscaping makes it feel very private. The house was well stocked with the necessities and any needed shopping is very close. Great location. with easy access to I-25.

Park City

This was a wonderful house for our family gathering!

  • 5 of 5

My sisters and I grew up in Colorado Springs and we now live all over the country, so we all met here and my mom flew in to celebrate her early 80th birthday. The house is so well-done, beautiful furnishings, quiet neighborhood, and the beds were all so comfortable and the sheets and towels were amazing quality (and smelled SO good)!

The house is very clean and we really enjoyed our stay. We definitely hope to come back! Thank you!
