Vacation in Paradise

  • 4 of 5

Bali Hale is by far the most unique property we have ever rented. The home consists of 3 separate pods connected by a covered breezeway. The largest pod is the living space and the other 2 pods are the bedrooms. The master bathroom has an outdoor shower in addition to the traditional tub/shower combo. There is a ton of covered outdoor living space viewing the lush yard.

We were soothed to sleep each night by the trade winds and rustling palm trees and awakened each morning by a chorus of birds just before dawn. We loved staying in this exotic island "hut" in an upscale residential neighborhood.

The beach was a short walk away and the town of Kailua was just a short drive for groceries, Target, restaurants, Starbucks, etc. There are plenty of other tourist activites on Oahu if you care to venture out.

Our family of 4 adults spent the Christmas holidays in this house and all agreed that this was the best Christmas ever.!!!

Lovely home - very nice neighborhood!

This home is nice for a small family with older children. The amenities are better than most and the house is close to beaches and hiking.

Bali Hale is a home that perfectly fits into Paradise.

  • 5 of 5

Bali Hale not only met our expectations it exceeded them from every aspect. It was impeccably clean and well maintained. The photos really do not do justice to that pure charm of the home. It is truly one of a kind.

The house contained everything that one could ask for in a rental home and the location is wonderful. You are far enough away from Waikiki Beach to avoid the crowds but it is only about a 25 minute drive to get there to enjoy the amenities offered downtown.

Gerri, the care taker, was wonderful. Our flight landed at 4:25 PM and when we called her she said take your time getting to the house we will wait for you which took pressure off of as we had not been to that part of the Island on previous trips. Once we arrived at the house she spent a great deal of time making sure that we were familiar with the house as well as sharing some of her favorite things to do in the area including where to eat and buy groceries. Thanks Gerri and Bill you got us of to a great start!

You cannot help but relax a while at Bali Hale. The setting is peaceful and the back yard is large and private. One of the great features of the house is the outdoor shower. Everything that you will need for your vacation is within a short driving distance, Gerri will give you the low down.

We thoroughly enjoyed morning coffee and evening cocktails on the porch. We also highly recommend the Lanikai General Store for lunch, breakfast and some of your supplies. The food is outstanding and the people that work there are very pleasant. It is about a 10 minute drive and it is 2 minutes from one of the nicest beaches on Oahu.

Needless to say we will be back in the not too distant future!

Beautiful home ...

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful Lanikai home ~ or should I stay STUNNING home. The home was spotless and grounds impeccable. Kitchen well appointed etc.

However if you are used to air conditioning, this is NOT the home for you. We'd read several reviews and spoke to the owners about the A/C. The reviews never mentioned being uncomfortable and the owners told us that the Balinese home was made for air flow so A/C wasn't necessary. *** they also told us that if we were looking for a home with a/c this wasn't it.

We should have listened but we based our decision to move forward with the booking based on past reviews which mentioned nothing of being uncomfortable in the months we were planning to travel, we were also told that each room had fans so we figured it would help with the air flow ... nope :( no luck.

The house stayed a steady 80ish at night (we weren't there much in the day) ~ being from the south and used to a/c it was just too hot. We ended up buying a fan for the master bedroom and taking cold showers to try to stay semi cool . Our kids who slept in the guest room, ended up in the living room because there is zero air flow in the guest bedroom. The family used the outside shower because it was much cooler than the inside bathrooms with no ventilation/air flow.

All that being said, I am originally from Hawaii and have stayed in Lanikai multiple times in homes without a/c in the winter. Never had an issue with being hot so I would imagine that this home would be the same way and I'd rent it again if we were staying in the winter.

Again, the home is spectacular so don't let the a/c issue sway you if you don't mind being warm or are coming in any other time than the summer. You won't be disappointed in the location and beauty of this Hawaiian home.

Owner's Response: FYI There is air conditioning in the home and fans. Perhaps you rented it before it was installed as the home was new.

I Heart Lanikai

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home! Accurate photos but MORE impressive in person. I lived in Lanikai for 10 years and this was a return visit after a 13 year absence. The home exceeded my expectations and Willow was so kind and helpful. When I lived in Lanikai I did not have air conditioning, as many homes don't, but I lived up higher on a hill with perhaps more wind. The only short coming was we were a sticky and hot at times. The home is equipped with fans as well as the trade winds but many homes are now adding some type of ac and that's the only thing I would change. I would stay again even if ac wasn't added but buy extra fans as I did. Both the owner and property manager were fabulous. Our stay was amazing! Every home needs an outdoor shower like the one at Bali Hale!!!
