A cozy 1 bedroom getaway in a unique corner of the World

  • 5 of 5

We spent nearly 2 weeks at this property recently and since I was recovering from a 5 day hospital stay we couldn't avail ourselves of many of the opportunities to explore the area and take in the beauty of it.

The unit is very well furnished and very clean with a comfortable king bed and all the kitchen utensils that you will need. The lofted ceilings and the lanai complete with a hammock were some of my favorite features.

The owners who live very near couldn't have been more responsive to any problem or request we had. Also, their concern for our health issues were evident, even including offering to drive us to local businesses!

Quiet but you can hear rooster crowing every morning. You have to love gecko to stay at the cottag.

  • 4 of 5

Even though it is not close by the market or restaurants. You can reach easily most of the favourite spots like volcano park, Waiipo, Akaka falls and so on. Especially the trail to Shipman beach

starts only few blocks away from the cottage. It is small but very nice beach where You will meet turtles and geese. There is no restrooms though.

can meet turtles and geese there.

Beautiful, private, perfect!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for our 4 year anniversary trip. This was our first time to the island, and we wanted to be somewhere more secluded and away from tourists. This place was VERY clean, open, and tucked away. It was exactly what we were looking for. There was a lot of rain during our stay, but we expected that. If you love rain like we do, then this was a special treat! We awoke to the sound of local roosters, and drifted off to the beautiful singing of the coqui frogs. There are geckos that live in the home and eat the bugs, so if you don’t like nature this isn’t the place for you. We will definitely be back and would love to stay here again!!!!!!!!! Mahalo for the easy instructions, perfect accommodations, and everything in between!! -Autumn & Jesseca

Very nice and private!

  • 4 of 5

Positives: Wooded and private; clean and roomy; comfortable bed; well stocked kitchen; nice lanai; beach chairs and equipment provided; drinking water provided.

Negatives: No a/c... home got very warm during day. Fortunately, we were out during the days and it got cool at night. Open windows and fans provided comfortable evenings. Had to keep inside lights mostly off, as bugs were able to get in. Wash machine was dirty, so we elected not to use it. There is no dishwasher. TV channels are limited, however, we brought a laptop and hdmi cable to connect to tv and watched netflix. Sofa not very comfortable.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would come back again. There were numerous very colorful small lizards around. They are harmless and nice to look at. A couple were in the house but they are very afraid of people and run away quickly. They also eat bugs!

Quiet, Out of the way, Just what we needed.

  • 5 of 5

This house is a little out of the way but nice and quiet for a restful time. If you want a quiet relaxing time, this is the place. It's within driving distance to everything on the east side of the island. If you're looking for night life or resort living, then stay on the Kona side. But if you want to see God's beautiful creation and do what you want, when you want, then this is the place to be. All the comforts of home and the owner is very willing to answer any questions or offer suggestions. Find your way to the cliffs, they're beautiful. Thanks Loleina and Uilani for all your help and for a wonderful time. Maholo

About Loleina

I am originally from Iowa and Leland is a Native of Hawaii, Army-Retired. We fell in love with the life style and beauty of the Big Island. Our wonderful Ohana, Ui'lani and Stan will enjoy assisting you. We hope that you will enjoy our Aloha and our home,

Mahalo, Elizabeth and Leland

Loleina purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Loleina chose Keaau

We chose beautiful Kaloli Point area because it's rural, safe, and friendly. Towns are easily accessible, but still has that small 'coastal community feel'.

What makes this cottage unique

It's always lush and green here! We are right in the middle of the best part of the the Windward side of the Island. Beautiful Hilo to the North and tropical Kalapana to the South. There is so much history here in the 'Aina (land).
