About Ed Miller

Becca and I were able to take our two boys, Russell(12yrs) and Joseph(10yrs) and move back 'home' to Boone in 2010. We wanted our boys to grow up in a rural area where they could grow and explore.

Ed Miller purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Ed Miller chose Blue Ridge Mountains

This property was sold in 1957 by Ed's Grandfather to a school teacher in Florida for a price 'no one would take'. 53 yrs later Ed and Becca were able to buy the property back and turn in to weekend/short term rentals. The property is nestled in 200 acres of family farmland. With a creek, waterfalls, and plenty area to just roam, it is a great place to just get away. The original Cabin was made from the same logs that came from the cabin Ed's dad was born in in 1924. It is a cozy place where you can just relax. Just 12 minutes from Boone, you are also close to the many activities the high county has to offer.

What makes this cabin unique

The trails will lead you into the woods where you find a creek that will sooth you body and mind. The creek offers many opportunities for both young and old. With a waterfall, places for children to explore, and space for adults to reflect and relax. From the front porch you can look over the valley of Howard's creek while watching the sun rise.

Amazing getaway!

  • 5 of 5

I brought my wife up for the weekend because she loves homes with character and being around nature. This cottage exceeded our expectations! Soo much space to relax and unwind and it's close to the town if you need to get anything or go out for the night. Oreo the host led us to our cabin when we arrived the first night and stayed with us which was nice. We'll definitely come back.

The cabin and its surroundings were a nice and necessary escape. Oreo was great company, Ed was kind in manner and information, and we especially enjoyed the birdsong, porch swing, and fireplace!

Cozy, quaint, with trails to explore right out back!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time at this cabin. It was a prescious gem that I just stumbled across on home away. If the walls could talk, I'd love to sit by the fire and hear all the stories this cabin would tell.

Oreo, the owners dog, and Oscar the neighbors dog are two best friends. They greet you the moment you arrive and are more than happy to join you when you walk the trails to the water falls (right in the back yard). They are the friendliest dogs I have ever met.

During our 2-day visit we took a trip to Grandfather is a must do for anyone visiting. We had a great time.

Ed and Becca - thank you so much for sharing your cabin with us and for the s'more makings!

Charming, comfy but rustic

  • 5 of 5

I gave my teenagers a choice of rustic cabin or hotel. The cabin is unique and set up for simple living, with no wifi or satellite TV. This provides a great opportunity for family time. Wake up to the cows in the field and walk around to discover lots of antiques on the property. We collected wood and had evening campfires, roasting dinner and making s'mores for desert. We stopped in at the local store, Goober Peas, and found locally made jams and relish. Only 5-10 minutes to town for any supplies and many excursions within an hour drive. Owners are close by to help with anything you need. We cannot wait to come and visit again.
