About Ed Miller

Becca and I were able to take our two boys, Russell(12yrs) and Joseph(10yrs) and move back 'home' to Boone in 2010. We wanted our boys to grow up in a rural area where they could grow and explore.

Ed Miller purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Ed Miller chose Boone

This property was sold in 1957 by Ed's Grandfather to a school teacher in Florida for a price 'no one would take'. 53 yrs later Ed and Becca were able to buy the property back and turn in to weekend/short term rentals. The property is nestled in 200 acres of family farmland. With a creek, waterfalls, and plenty area to just roam, it is a great place to just get away. The original Cabin was made from the same logs that came from the cabin Ed's dad was born in in 1924. It is a cozy place where you can just relax. Just 12 minutes from Boone, you are also close to the many activities the high county has to offer.

What makes this cabin unique

The trails will lead you into the woods where you find a creek that will sooth you body and mind. The creek offers many opportunities for both young and old. With a waterfall, places for children to explore, and space for adults to reflect and relax. From the front porch you can look over the valley of Howard's creek while watching the sun rise.

Little cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

If you would like to live back in those good old days this cabin will be perfect for you, cozy warm, welcoming cows around you, and you cant for get the woodlands. Walking on the grounds you will find a creek running along the property, it will lead you to a beautiful waterfall as well, just watch you steps down to see it... The dogs are friendly they love to hang around to get petted. Fishing creeks are just up the road from you as well to catch some trout while you are there. We enjoyed staying in this lovely cabin will plan to visit again soon.

Cozy and Comfy

  • 5 of 5

Close to Boone to do the things we wanted to do, but out of town so we felt like we were by ourselves to. Just what we were looking for. Visits from the Puppies were the icing on the cake.

Looking forward to our next visit to the cabin and Boone.

Cozy cabin getaway

  • 4 of 5

We just stayed here for a brief girls' getaway weekend and loved the scenic property and charm of the cabin. Despite some very chilly temperatures we stayed warm with a little rearranging of the provided electric heaters and plenty of blankets/linens on-hand. We enjoyed our cow neighbors and the very friendly dogs as well. We had one small snafu with the DVD player (would not load any movies) but it definitely did not put a damper on our weekend! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a rustic, secluded getaway. The family room with pullout sofas provides plenty of sleeping space for kids or groups like ours who are looking for a fun reunion spot. Thanks for a great stay.

Great Memories!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our time at the cabin! Took us back in time. It was very comfortable and clean they even had fixings for smores, which we had two times. Yummy!! We loved the dogs that hung out with us. Grandkids were sad to say goodbye to them. Watched the cows in the pasture and seen a deer run across the property. I would definitely recommend staying here. It was an experience that we will not forget.
