About Tom Coleman
I am a retired licensed general contractor. My wife is also retired. We are both originally from Chicago, and moved out to Northern California back in the 70s. I enjoy baking bread in our pizza oven, hiking, pouring wine at a local winery, traveling and cooking. My wife is an artist who dabbles in oil painting, mosaics and ceramics. We both enjoy cooking, traveling and visiting the fantastic local Sonoma wineries and many excellent restaurants. I work at a local winery in Sonoma County and can offer suggestions and recommendations for local attractions.
Tom Coleman purchased this Cottage in 2007
Why Tom Coleman chose Petaluma
The first time I saw this property, I fell in love with the views of the Sonoma hills. It reminded me of traveling and hiking through Ireland and England.
What makes this Cottage unique
Seeing lots of stars at night. Watching the sun and the full moon come up from the cottage deck. Harvesting fresh vegetables and fruit from our gardens. Sitting quietly in our peaceful rock garden or swinging in the hammock. Staring out at the views of the Sonoma mountains. Reading on the covered back deck. Making homemade pizzas in our wood fired pizza oven. Smelling the lavender in the summer and jasmine in the spring.

A fun, relaxing home in the Petaluma countryside, so close too many other areas.
Owners, Carol and Tom, could not have been more warm or welcoming to us. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you could want, with lots of special touches. It is located in an area that has easy access to so many wineries, the Northern California coast, and even down into San Francisco. Also the town of Petaluma is filled with lots of fun shops and delicious restaurants. It is a welcoming place to return to after a day of sightseeing or wine tasting . The owners make it so comfortable to be there, that you could easily relax and not travel anywhere. Lots of information on various sites to see is provided in the house. My husband and I spent eight day there, and we both agree that it really made our vacation extra special.
Thank you MaryLou and Bill. It was truly a pleasure meeting you, talking to you, and serving wine to you at Cline Winery! You make opening our cottage to VRBO visitors such a wonderful experience.

Lovely, warm, charming, excellent!
The cottage, built with love, exudes warmth and loveliness. I booked a few nights for a quiet getaway, and I couldn't have been happier. Tom and Carol were delightful hosts, and the fresh scone dough (beautifully packaged and ready to be popped into the oven,) was a wonderful touch.
The cottage really is fabulous with ample space, high ceiling, gas fireplace, private garden, every amenity, and and a wonderful balcony overlooking a large lawn and garden. Thank you for a beautiful stay!
Thank you Carol! So glad you enjoyed your stay. Hope to see you again soon.

Home Away From Home
This is such a lovely cottage within the Petaluma hills. Everything I needed was there for my stay. I was traveling throughout California to visit family, and this little cottage was so restful. My hosts were so nice, and even provided a special treat of homemade scones for me to bake in the morning. This was a relaxing part of my journey.
So glad you enjoyed your stay Lavonne, and glad you enjoyed the scones! Hope to see you again, down the road...

Great place to stay!!
Comfortable and clean space with lots of special touches and a wonderful host. Loved sitting on the porch with coffee and watching a flock of wild turkeys visit! A nice country feel but only minutes to the charming town of Petaluma.
Perfect for a solo or couple. Its a separate studio cottage next to the main house. I stayed there for 5 days while doing a fencing workshop in santa rosa. Clean, quiet, and cozy which was exactly what I was looking for. Had pretty much anything I could need. The owners were great, and had the place well stocked.
Thanks so much for your kind and thoughtful review Alex. We appreciate it. We are happy that you were able to unwind and relax after several days of fencing. We hope that you will consider visiting us again to enjoy all that Sonoma County has to offer. Thanks again.
We are located near numerous wineries and also several breweries including Lagunitas, Hen House and 101 North Brewing. If you enjoy walking, Shollenberger Park offers a flat 2 mile walk or stroll with many birds and views to enjoy. Helen Putnam Park offers hills for those who are seeking a more challenging hike. Also, Armstrong woods is a lovely place for hiking.
