Hibiscus House: Best Views On The Beach! Stunning Sun Deck! Concierge Service!

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,300 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 5 - 7 nights

About the property

Little Gasparilla Beachfront Gem; Sleeps 6

Leave your car and your cares at the marina because Little Gasparilla is accessible only by water taxi! That means our beaches are uncrowded and tourists and traffic are just a mainland memory. If you are looking for a quiet tropical island to relax and unplug, Little Gasparilla is your dream vacation spot. Our "nightlife" consists of giant sea turtles laying their eggs -- our only bar is the sand bar where you can find sand dollars and shells!

Hibiscus House is a sparkling clean cottage in one of the most superb locations in Florida. It features fresh, beachy decor, dramatic Gulf views, bright, sunshine-filled rooms, a nearly deserted beach and it includes everything to make your beach vacation memorable.... satellite TV, wi-fi access, use of a dock slip, beach chairs, comfortable beds, a relaxing hammock plus one of the best equipped kitchens on the beach. While the island is relatively remote, access is easy via regular water taxi service and the beach is pristine and uncrowded. The home offers snorkeling gear, boogie boards, a beach umbrella, beach towels, toys and games. The master bedroom features a king size bed, the second bedroom offers a queen size bed and there is a sleeping loft with two twins and a double bed. There is also a downstairs outdoor shower and a spacious screened porch overlooking the Gulf. NOTE: We also offer concierge service to meet you at the dock and help transport your luggage and groceries to the house!

Unlike other homes set back on the island, Hibiscus House is situated right on the beach, for the best views and no long walks to the beach across hot sand. No partial 'peek-a-boo' view from this can eat dinner overlooking the Gulf and the sound of the waves lulls you to sleep at night.

Little Gasparilla Island is very pet friendly and your canine companion is welcome as long as we are notified in advance. There is a $100 pet fee per pet. Our minimum rental period is normally one week; sorry, but we do not rent for weekends. Information on boat rentals and water taxi service is provided with your rental package.

Little Gasparilla Island is a nearly-deserted tropical island with no bridge, no roads and no commercial establishments. If peace and privacy are the hallmarks of a special beach vacation, you have found the right spot! Warm, shallow waters and balmy tropical breezes caress the island....sand pathways meander up and down the island for exploring by golf cart. (Golf cart rentals are available on the island.) You park your car at the mainland marina and take a delightful 15-minute water taxi ride right to our dock. It is best to do all your grocery shopping prior to catching the water taxi....then you don't have to leave the island at all! You can even bring your pets on the water taxi with you! While on the island, in addition to swimming you can snorkel, fish from the dock or the beach, bird watch, explore, collect shells, or simply read a good book in the hammock.

You must notify us if you wish to bring or rent a boat. New regulations enacted by the state of Florida limit boats to 24 ft. at our dock.

• You cannot drive your car to the island and the only access is via water taxi; there is no vehicle ferry.

• You must park your car at the marina at the mainland but it will be perfectly safe there; parking is $6 a day.

• The water taxi is $10 per person each way and he will drop you right at our dock

• All homes come with a grill. Hibiscus House has a charcoal grill; please bring charcoal and lighter fluid with you.

• All homes come with beach chairs and an umbrella.

• You must bring all groceries to the island with you.

• There are no stores of any kind on the island, not even a convenience store.

• There is no need to bring drinking water; the water from the tap is safe and drinkable.

• There are first responders on the island and we have 911 service in case of an emergency.

• Golf carts are not necessary; the island is only 100-200 yards wide in most places and our concierge will meet you upon arrival to bring you to the house. But they are fun to go exploring.

• You can fish off the dock or the beach but non-Florida residents will need to purchase a fishing license.

• The beach is dog-friendly but dogs must be under your control, non-aggressive and most homes charge a pet fee.

• This house has wi-fi but this is NOT the internet you are used to on the mainland. There is a Verizon jetpack with a pay-as-you go data plan. You may purchase as much data as you need but it IS expensive (just like on a cruise.) There is no unlimited data and wi-fi is NOT for entertainment. No Netflix, no skyping, no streaming music, no downloading videos, etc. Many people find the mobile hotspots on their smartphones are better alternatives.

About Little Gasparilla Vacation Rentals

We have lived on the island for 30 years and we started renting our own home many years ago when we traveled. Then our neighbors asked us to handle rentals for them also -- and now we offer vacation rentals in a variety of price ranges and locations on the island...from dramatic beachfront homes to cozy interior homes with lots of privacy. Our homes are painstakingly cared for...we want you to feel like you are vacationing in a friend's home rather than a sterile "rental unit". So relax, kick off your flip flops, dig your toes in the sand and enjoy the island lifestyle!

Why Little Gasparilla Vacation Rentals chose Florida South West

Hibiscus House has a fabulous upstairs sundeck that has lots of privacy and some of the best views on the island. It not only has a screened porch but an open-air porch for outdoor sunning. Inside, the home is beautifully appointed and has one of the most well-equipped kitchens you will find in a rental home. Guests love how comfortable it is, how well-stocked the home is, and its proximity to the beach.

Perfect family escape

  • 5 of 5

We had the best family vacation ever at Hibiscus House! It seemed like it would be tough to fly in with kids, Uber to Placida, grab groceries at the Publix and get on a water taxi to get to the island, but it really wasn't. We had planned to arrive in the afternoon, but our flight was delayed. We arrived at Eldrid's Marina as the sun was setting, but we were able to get in touch with Pirate's Water Taxi and Brett, the LGI concierge. Everyone waiting for us, and it worked out great. Our water taxi guys were friendly and helpful, and Brett is great and will help you load and unload everything into his golf cart and then into your rental house. When we arrived at Hibiscus House, the owners had turned on the lights and the AC for us and had lovely jazz music waiting to set the scene. Because we arrived at night, we were not able to get all of our provisions upon arrival, but that wasn't a bad thing. We had fun grabbing the water taxi to go back to the mainland and load up again. Hibiscus House is beautiful, comfortable (the master bed, couch and kitchen chairs were all really comfortable) and very, very clean. They have a ton of staples, so don't overpack. The pantry was stocked with cooking oils, vinegars, lots of spices, some canned goods, pasta, rice and beans. It was like staying with friends. They have every imaginable pot, pan, storage container and cooking utensil you could possibly need. They also have lots of beach towels, bath towels, beach toys, beach chairs and even left over sunscreen and aloe vera (just in case you get a little too much sun). The loft had lots of kid toys and books--our 11 and 4 year olds were thrilled. During our stay we had a mix of absolutely clear skies and beautiful weather, combined with some seriously stormy weather. It was all beautiful. After the storm, we went down to the beach to find amazing shells. During the sunny weather, we all played in the calm gulf waters. There are no crowds on the beach--it was unreal and serene. Everyone we met on the island was welcoming and kind. We especially loved our visits with the owners' dog, Iris, who came to say hi, and Samantha, the island Newf. I can't say enough about the island and Hibiscus House. We can't wait to go back! Here's what you should bring--bug spray, sunscreen, t-shirts, shorts, a swim suit, a sweatshirt and a good book. Also, if you need to have some availability to work remotely, bring a hot spot. We did, and it worked great.

Go and unwind :)

PERFECT Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have been privileged to travel around the world and this was the most relaxing vacation we have ever had! Laurie was fabulous to work with and Hibiscus House was everything we could have wanted! Our favorite feature: the sliders that open the entire house to the beach . . . sitting at the dining room table each morning was like eating directly on the sand . . . because there was absolutely nothing obstructing our view. We ate dinner every night (after cooking in the well-equipped kitchen) on the screened porch with a perfect view of the spectacular sunset . . . but none of the hassles of bugs. Again, perfection! LGI is quiet and tranquil with great shelling and swimming. The house was comfortable and inviting . . . we are already planning our return trip!

Little Gasparilla Island is a paradise in itself. The hourse was great, you find everything you need to feel comfortable. Beautiful sunsets, getting out with the kayaks allows you to be with many dolphins for hours. Perfect place to relax and just simply enjoy life.

Relaxing, Relaxing, Relaxing.......

  • 4 of 5

Fabulous view, love the decks, plenty of room for everyone!

Suggestions for owner: one more was everyone's favorite spot!!!!! Frying pans could use a refresher, vacuum cleaner had an odor to it. Honestly these were small things. We loved the house, it's comfortable and very well appointed. We will be back!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for making us aware of these issues....we personally inspected every single pot and pan in the cupboard, scrubbed them all inside and out with Brillo pads -- and there were a couple non-stick pans with scratches that DID need to be tossed! Also, we just purchased some scent tablets for the vacuum cleaner which should help with the odor. We are glad that you enjoyed the house and the island and we hope you return again!

Family vacation

  • 5 of 5

What a great and memorable vacation we had. It can get costly if you don't plan your grocerie list right and don't bring your own boat but even still... WELL WORTH IT. What a beautiful place it is especially if you enjoy fishing, watching sunsets, and feeling one with nature.

The perfect beach vacation! I was slightly concerned about the cleanliness of a house that allowed dogs but was very pleased. There is no smell in the house and it is clean. Laurie was very quick in answering all my questions. We were there in time to take advantage of the experimental garbage service which made me happy because we already had enough to carry without worrying about lugging garbage to the water taxi! The house is well designed and built. I would like to go back next year. My only recommendation is that the local restaurants and grocery stores start a delivery service for those evenings when you just don't want to cook!
