Lovely apartment just 5 mn drive, 25 mn walk to downtown! Stylish, clean hideout
Adorable space opening from a small second floor deck to a living room full of windows, hardwood floors, original tile bathroom floor and ceramic tub, little hall to sweet, eat-in breakfast nook leading to a bedroom with 2 closets, and a comfy captain's bed with large drawers for clothes. Entrance to the apartment is behind the house, up a flight of external stairs (steep, so this is not a good fit for people who have a hard time with stairs) to a deck overlooking yard with shared fire pit, flower and vegetable gardens. Close by are UNCA wooded trails leading to Botanical gardens. Apartment is about a mile from the outskirts of downtown, and convenient to everything including shops, breweries, ice cream, galleries, boutiques, restaurants, museums, grocery stores, natural foods stores, etc. Short walk from the apartment is a wonderful bakery/market/restaurant where you can get sumptuous food, coffee, and all kinds of culinary treats. Off street parking for one car, (the driveway to the parking lot can be a bit tricky; you may need to back out when leaving, or feel free to park on the street in front of the house. Usually there are plenty of spaces there as well.) Washer/Dryer in unfinished basement with separate entrance shared with guests in second apartment. Apartment is fully furnished with tasteful furnishing and art, kitchenette. Comfy fold-out queen sized sofa bed in living room with linens, down mattress topper, and bedding in closet and chest for extra guests. Bedroom has a comfy, queen-sized captain's bed, lamps, lots of pillows, 2 closets. We offer TV or cable in this apartment on a large flat screen TV in living room with hundreds of channels. Feel free to (responsibly) enjoy the fire pit in the back yard, grill. Neat, typical Asheville neighborhood with some historic houses, some new constructions, modern, some families, some students and professionals. Very safe; we have never had any crime here to our knowledge. If you bring a pet, please make sure that your pet is completely flea-free and let us know in advance so that we may assess whether they are a good fit. There is a $45 pet fee. We will only consider extraordinarily well behaved pets. If you have a pet, please put the provided sofa cover over the sofa to protect it from dirty paws and teething jaws. Walls are thick plaster, so not a whole lot of sound carries, yet you may hear some sounds of others and footsteps, or smell cooking, etc. from our side of the house. Just below the apartment is another guest room, so we ask that you please take off shoes when convenient. We live close by in the historic district Monford, and are available if any issues arise. Also we have wonderful resident managers in the main part of the house who can help you if needed. There are 2 gas heaters, and in the warmer months, we have A/C window units. Please feel free to harvest some fresh herbs from our back yard herb garden, or vegies from our garden boxes. We welcome constructive feedback so that we can make any improvements that will make our guests' stay any more enjoyable. We very much prefer this feedback directly, so that we can better understand and remedy any issue that may come up, without unnecessarily alienating others. We try to be fully transparent about the apartment so that you can best make your booking decisions, well-informed.

About April Levin
We moved to Asheville about 11 years ago from San Francisco. Matt owns an advertising agency downtown and is their creative director. He is also a fine artist and graphic designer. I am a writer and musician. Our two boys play soccer and love to go camping. We love Asheville and enjoy sharing it with visitors. Let us know if you would like restaurant or activity tips!

Why April Levin chose Five Points
We love historic homes and this one has a lot of charm and is quite close to downtown Asheville in a neat neighborhood.
What makes this Apartment unique
Some of the fun things about this house is that there are some original details like the original ceramic tub, hardwood floors, and bathroom tiles, as well as interesting windows, built-in ironing boards and crown molding. The property is walking distance to downtown and UNCA, yet some find it too far to walk. Since it is an old house, please note that it is a bit quirky, and rustic, but very clean.

Close to downtown, dogs were allowed which was really nice. Had everything we needed!
The little apartment was very welcoming with fresh flowers, coffee, tea and creamers on hand.
Loved the location, close to restaurants and nice grocery stores and good shopping. Also, convenient to downtown and other attractions.
I loved having a kitchen although there was no toaster and a few other basics missing. There was no working television and the DVD player did not work. Normally not important to me, however, I was there during very cold weather and chose to stay inside more than I normally would have.
The parking was a little confusing, the spaces could be marked to make all tenants aware to leave room for the others.
Those things mentioned, I felt it was a pleasant rental with nice decor and a good value.
We have just added cable TV, and a large flat screen TV! Includes over 300 channels including HBO and Cinemax. Also, we've expanded the parking lot so parking and turning around will be easier. Sorry this wan't in place during your stay but it will be next time. Also, there is a large toaster oven in the pantry closet. Not sure what the other things you were referring to; kitchen has lots of dishes, pots and pans, coffee maker, microwave, salt, pepper, etc. Please let me know if there is something specific that you wanted in the kitchen so that I can be sure to put it in. Thanks for staying with us, and hope to see you again, next time with the things you mentioned resolved.
Close to downtownown, neat and comfortable.
So close to downtown! Neat and comfortable.
Great location but property was not as nice as advertised
We love the location of the vrbo but when we arrived late in the eveni g the house was cold and there was very little toilet paper. Turning on the gas heater proved problematic so we went without heat in the kitchen. There was an electric heater in the bedroom which worked well.
The kitchen is not stocked well. There were no dish towels, paper towels, and the knobs on the cabinets were loose.
Also getting into and out of the driveway is tricky. You will need to be able to back out of a short but narrow driveway.
We ended up having to,buy toilet paper.
We would t stay here again.
I’m glad you enjoyed the location and want to comment on your specifics so that future guests will have more accurate information. We do provide paper towels, toilet paper, and dish towels; I wish that she had let me know if there was an issue with this if she couldn’t find them or needed more. I delivered more toilet paper to her when she asked. There is also extra in the basement where the washer dryer is located for which I provide a key. The gas heater in the kitchen works well and there are directions about lighting it right beside it, but for people who don’t wish to use a gas heater there are electric heaters in the closets. There is also an easy gas heater in the living room. Since my diabetic son was ill that day, perhaps my cleaning person did not leave the heater on, which I generally do on cold days, but given the flexible check in time I allow my guests, it’s hard to have the apartment at the perfect temp at all times for every preference. It does get nice and toasty if that’s what you want. The driveway can be tricky for some if you are not used to turning around in a small lot or backing down a short driveway. I think I make this all fairly clear in the description, so please read the description before booking. Also, I was not aware that some knobs were loose so I appreciate knowing this. I would much rather have guests let me know these things in person so I can fix them as I invite in my note on the door, instead of giving me a review like this that is bound to give people the wrong impression of the apartment. Thankfully, all of my other reviews reflect a spectacular experience.
Great Location and Property
April is an excellent host. We were greeted with a welcoming card with all the information we needed and her number in case we needed anything else. The apartment was great for my husband and me who came up to Asheville for the weekend for a concert. We were able to walk back from the US Cellular Center and avoid waiting for a cab/uber. Great location and really is close to everything you need to do downtown. Also, it was a quick drive over to Biltmore House and many breweries as well. So it is accommodating to any needs you may have. Can't say enough about this place. Be sure to take heed of the large vehicle disclosure as you will need to plan to park on the street (which wouldn't be a big deal as it is not a far walk at all). WiFi worked great. We didn't cook but looked like you would be able to if you wanted. The stairs are steep so if you have any trouble with that I would maybe look at a different place. Wonderful experience!
Exactly as described
April thank you so much for sharing your place with us. We had a fabulous time in Asheville and your place was just beautiful. You made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed our little hike to and from downtown. The property was quaint, quiet and relaxing. Wish we would have had more time to enjoy it. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
