Overview

About the property

1 Bdrm, 1 Bath Lovely Apartment Just A 5 Minute Drive, 20 mn Walk to Downtown!

Adorable space opening from a small second floor deck to a living room full of windows, hardwood floors, original tile bathroom floor and ceramic tub, little hall to sweet, eat-in breakfast nook leading to a lavender bedroom with 2 closets, and a comfy captain's bed. Entrance to the apartment is behind the house, up a flight of external stairs (steep, so this is not a good fit for people who have a hard time with stairs but they ARE up-to-code) to a deck overlooking yard with shared fire pit, flower and vegetable gardens, and a bunny hutch with 2 cute Holland lops (in warm weather). This is a wonderful apartment for many, but please read carefully, and if you are looking for a hotel-style place, this is not for you. Close by are UNCA wooded trails leading to Botanical gardens. Apartment is less than a mile from downtown, and convenient to everything including shops, restaurants, museums, grocery stores, natural foods stores, etc. Short walk from the apartment is a wonderful bakery/market/restaurant where you can get sumptuous food, coffee, and all kinds of culinary treats. Off street parking for one car, (the driveway to the carport is a bit tricky; you need to back out when leaving, or feel free to park on the street in front of the house. Usually there are plenty of spaces there as well.) Washer/Dryer in unfinished basement with separate entrance. Apartment is fully furnished with tasteful furnishing and art, kitchenette. Comfy fold-out queen sized sofa bed in living room with linens, down mattress topper, and bedding in closet and chest for extra guests. Bedroom has a comfy, queen-sized captain's bed with large drawers for clothes. Please note, we do not offer TV or cable in this apartment, but have a small DVD player with a few movies; there's a Redbox down the street at the CVS if you want to choose other movies. Also, we are happy to share our Netflix password with you during your stay if you bring a laptop, iPad, or other device. Feel free to (responsibly) enjoy the fire pit in the back yard, grill, and hammock. Neat, typical Asheville neighborhood with some historic houses, some new constructions, modern, some families, some students and professionals. Very safe; we have never had any crime here to our knowledge. If you bring a pet, please make sure that your pet is completely flea-free and let us know in advance so that we may assess whether they are a good fit. There is a $45 pet fee. We will only consider extraordinarily well behaved pets. If you have a pet, please put the provided sofa cover over the sofa to protect it from dirty paws and teething jaws. Walls are thick plaster, so not a whole lot of sound carries, yet you may hear some sounds of others and footsteps, or smell cooking, etc. from our side of the house. Just below the apartment is another guest room, so we ask that you please take off shoes when convenient. We have 2 young boys, 2 rabbits, a cat, and a pug. We love kids and babies, but the apartment is not baby-proofed. There are 2 gas heaters, and in the warmer months, we have A/C window units. Please feel free to harvest some fresh herbs from our back yard herb garden, or vegies from our garden boxes. We welcome constructive feedback so that we can make any improvements that will make our guests' stay any more enjoyable. We very much prefer this feedback directly, as apposed to reviews so that we can better understand and remedy any issue that may come up, without unnecessarily alienating others. We try to be fully transparent about the apartment so that you can best make your booking decisions well informed.

About April Levin

We are a family of 4 who live in the main part of the house with our pug Maggie, our cat Monroe, and our 2 Holland Lops. Matt owns an advertising agency downtown and is their creative director. He is also a fine artist and graphic designer. I am a writer and musician. We met in San Francisco and moved to Asheville in 2004 when I was pregnant with our first child. Our boys play soccer and love to go camping. We love Asheville and enjoy sharing it with visitors. Let us know if you would like restaurant or activity tips!

Why April Levin chose Asheville

We love historic homes and this one has a lot of charm and is quite close to downtown Asheville in a neat neighborhood.

What makes this apartment unique

Some of the fun things about this house is that there are some original details like the original ceramic tub, hardwood floors, and bathroom tiles, as well as interesting windows, built-in ironing boards and crown molding. The property is walking distance to downtown and UNCA. Since it is an old house, please note that it is a bit quirky, and rustic, but very clean.

Cozy, Clean, Beautifully Decorated

  • 5 of 5

April couldn't have been a more genuine hostess. She made everything comfortable and cozy in the apartment. The personal touches were so nice! Fresh cut flowers, chocolates left on the bedroom end table, cute packs of slippers for extra comfort by the front door left us feeling welcome & right at home. We appreciated how clean the apartment was! And she doesn't use chemicals, so my sensitive nose & body weren't assaulted as soon as I arrived as it has been at other rentals due to use of conventional cleaners. :) Each morning we watched squirrels, ducks, and a bunny frolic outside from the many windows as we sipped our coffee and enjoyed the quiet ambiance. We made fast friends with Roe, the owners' sweet kitty. This enchanting little place is about a 20 minute walk from downtown Asheville. The hills make for a great workout to offset the amazing eats found in city center. I highly recommend lodging at rental 653118. You won't be disappointed! We look forward to booking more stays there!

Charming, comfortable, convenient

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect place to stay in Asheville. Close to downtown, but in a quiet neighborhood. Everything was perfect, down to the fresh flowers in every room. The stairs to the front door were a bit steep, so could be tough for anyone with trouble walking.

Great rental in Asheville!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for a friend's wedding in the area. It was the perfect location and very close to everything you'd want or need in the area. We had only a short drive to downtown. Everything in the rental was clean and in great condition. The bed was extremely comfortable (and I'm a total snob about this). We only used the kitchen to make coffee in the mornings, and it didn't look like somewhere you could prepare a huge meal; but, with so many restaurants in Asheville, who'd want to stay in anyway? :) I will say the steps up to the rental are extremely steep so keep that in mind. Also, the alley way to get to the parking area is extremely narrow, so if you have a huge gas-guzzler you might want to keep that in mind. I would definitely stay here again.

Place was very well taken care of and had everything we needed. They left a note with instructions for the pull out sofa and wifi password, as well as chocolate. Such a cute place.
